Vivian walked out of the city gates. His steps were slow, unsteady. After a few moments, he stopped and looked back.

The city stood there, silent and familiar. He let out a long sigh.

This would be the last time he saw this place.

He didn’t know if he would ever return.

But one thing was certain, if he did come back, he would most likely be a dead man by then.

That thought passed through his mind as he turned around and started walking again.

His body shook violently. He hurried to the side of the road and leaned against the wall.

The coughing grew worse.

With each cough, his face became paler, and a sharp pain tore through his chest, as if it were being crushed from the inside.

The coughing finally stopped.

Vivian looked at the blood and gave a bitter smile. This was the third time today.

And it wasn’t even noon yet.

He wiped his mouth with his sleeve and let out another tired sigh. Slowly, he pushed himself up and turned around to leave this place when—

He went to the red-light district so Charlotte would hate him. He wanted her to turn away from him.

“Go do your own work,” Vivian said, forcing his voice to stay calm.

“This is pointless,” Vivian said quietly. “I’m not your belonging.”

For a brief moment, her smile froze.

“Then whose belonging are you?” she asked.

“No one’s,” Vivian replied. “Now go back to the capital. I have other things to do.”

“What other things?” she asked, her eyes narrowing.

“None of your business. Now go,” he said.

Instead of walking out of the city, she turned around and walked straight inside.

Vivian froze for a moment, then hurried after her. “Where are you going?”

“None of your business,” she said flatly.

Vivian let out an irritated breath. “Ahh… fine. Do whatever you want.”

“Okay,” she replied.

She took only a few steps forward. Then, as she walked, a ball of fire formed in her hand. Without slowing down, she threw it toward the people ahead.

Boom!

An explosion shook the street. Smoke rose into the air. People screamed and ran in panic.

But she didn’t stop.

Another fireball began forming in her palm.

“This lunatic…” Vivian cursed under his breath.

He rushed forward, ignoring the pain in his body. He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her back with all the strength he had left, dragging her out of the city gates.

Her fire spell faded as they crossed outside.

Vivian was breathing heavily, his chest burning, but his grip didn’t loosen.

“Are you insane?” he said through clenched teeth.

The city behind them was in chaos, and he knew…letting her stay there for even one more second would have turned everything into a bloodbath.

He hurried away from the city and didn’t stop until they reached a place where no one was around.

Only then did he let go. He sat her down roughly and spoke in a raised voice.

“Okay! I didn’t sleep with anyone! Now go!”

She smirked at him. “You think I don’t know that?”

She stepped closer, grabbed him by the collar, and pulled him toward her. “Then what was all that for?” she said coldly. “Drinking? Acting like a delinquent?”

“None of your—”

The sharp sound echoed in the empty space.

Vivian’s head snapped to the side. His jaw screamed in pain, as if it had cracked. Before he could even process it, she pulled him into a tight hug.

“You think I don’t know what you were trying to do?” she said, her voice shaking. “Idiot. You wanted me to hate you.”

Vivian said nothing. His eyes wavered.

“If you hadn’t said those words to me,” she continued quietly, “we could have lived together for a few more years. Idiot.”

Hearing that, Vivian’s eyes trembled. For a moment, something almost broke inside him.

Then his gaze hardened.

“I don’t like you,” he said.

She pulled back slowly and stared at him.

“And I hate you,” Charlotte replied.

The words hung between them, heavy and final, as the silence swallowed everything else.

“And whether you like it or not,” she said coldly, “you will spend the rest of your life with me. And when you die, your body will stay with me until I—”

She stopped mid-sentence. A sudden thought crossed her mind, and her words died in her throat.

Hearing all this, Vivian’s eyes wavered. There was bitterness in his voice when he spoke.

“I don’t have much time left…”

“But you can spend that remaining time with me, can’t you?” she said softly. Her voice had lost its sharp edge.

“I didn’t want to cause you pain after I die,” Vivian replied. “That’s why it’s better if you leave me alone.”

She stepped closer, her eyes narrowing. “You’re really asking for a beating, aren’t you?”

Before Vivian could say anything else, she raised her hand. A spell activated instantly. Countless chains shot out of thin air and wrapped around his body, binding him tightly.

“Charlotte, release me!” he shouted in panic.

She only smirked. Stepping closer, she gently traced his lips with her finger.

Then she snapped her fingers.

The ground vanished beneath them as both of them rose into the air.

Vivian’s heart pounded wildly. He wasn’t used to flying, and the sudden height made his head spin.

While floating, she looked at him and said calmly, “When you first saw me… you thought I was a witch, didn’t you?”

Her words echoed in his ears.

Vivian swallowed hard. It had been a long time ago. He didn’t expect her to remember that.

“No,” he said quickly. “I didn’t say that.”

Charlotte smiled faintly, as if she already knew the truth.

“Now, now, there’s no use hiding,” she said as she moved closer.

Her long hair fluttered in the air. As she drew nearer, Vivian caught her familiar scent. It made his chest feel tight.

She leaned in and spoke softly, almost playfully.

“Even if I wasn’t one in the past, I’ll become one now.”

Her lips curved into a wild smile.

“When I use you to have a child.”

She burst into loud laughter.

Vivian’s face turned pale. Fear filled his eyes.

Yes…..fear. Fear of this lunatic.

He swallowed hard. His throat felt dry.

Charlotte raised her hands and laughed again.

“Now then,” she said. “Father of my future child…..give me a child right now.”

“Charlotte,” Vivian said quickly, his voice shaking, “you’re not in the right state of mind. Release me. Let’s get to the ground first. We’ll talk.”

She didn’t listen.

She moved even closer, her eyes shining with madness.

“Don’t worry,” she said calmly. “Our child will be perfect. It’ll only take a little effort.”

Panic rushed through his body.

“Charlotte!” Vivian shouted.

The chains around him tightened as the air trembled, and for the first time, he truly felt trapped, with no place left to run.
