Some had already left for home in their carriages under the cover of night.

Outside in the cool night air, only four people remained near the main gates.

The queen stood tall with her arms crossed, her face calm but her eyes sharp as she looked toward the dark sky in the distance.

Beside her stood Salena, her face was filled with worry too.

Raon leaned against a stone pillar, arms folded, staring at the same direction with a small frown on his face.

“I hope he is okay,” she murmured under her breath. She looked down at the ground, at her own shoes, as if the answer might be written there.

Salena let out a soft sigh. Her chest felt tight with worry. Vivian had come all this way because of her.

If something bad had happened to him tonight, she didn’t know how she could ever face Edward again.

“Brother… please be alright,” she whispered. Her eyes stayed fixed on the distant sky.

The night sky was completely dark. Thick clouds covered everything. Not a single star or moonlight could be seen.

But as Salena kept staring into the blackness, a tiny light appeared far away on the horizon.

At first it was just a small dot. Then, in the blink of an eye, the light shot forward and appeared directly above them.

Everyone stood up at once. Their faces lit up with hope.

“Brother…” Salena breathed out, almost not believing her eyes.

Vivian’s figure slowly became clear in the glowing light.

He descended gently from the sky, landing softly a few steps away. He looked around at the group with calm eyes.

First he looked at Marinate, who had jumped to her feet.

Then at Raon. Finally he stepped closer to them and gave a small, respectful bow.

“I’m sorry,” he said quietly. “I know this marriage was important to you both, but…”

He didn’t finish the sentence. He didn’t need to. They all understood what he meant.

Raon gave an awkward smile and rubbed the back of his neck.

He was the groom, after all. He had no idea what to say in a moment like this.

But Marinate didn’t hesitate. She walked straight up to Vivian with a warm smile.

“No problem at all,” she said brightly. Then she gently nudged Raon with her elbow.

“He didn’t even want to get married right now anyway.”

“Yeah… right…” Raon mumbled. The awkward smile stayed on his face.

Vivian looked at Marinate and returned a small, genuine smile.

“Please visit Charlotte sometimes,” he said softly. “She doesn’t go outside much, so she can’t meet many people. It would mean a lot to her if you came by once in a while.”

Marinate met his eyes. She looked at him deeply for a moment, then nodded with a gentle smile.

“I will,” she promised. “I’ll make sure to visit her.”

Vivian then turned to the queen next. He gave her a small, respectful nod.

“Mother-in-law,” he said in a calm voice, “how about you come with us? It’s late, but the road back home is safer if we travel together.”

The queen looked at him for a moment.

Her face stayed calm, but her eyes showed a hint of warmth. She shook her head slowly.

“Thank you, Vivian,” she said. “But I have some matters to take care of here. I will stay until tomorrow and leave after everything is settled. You go ahead. Don’t worry about me.”

Vivian did not push her. He simply bowed his head again.

“As you wish,” he replied.

Then he turned to Salena. She was still staring at him, her eyes shiny with unshed tears of relief.

She had not moved from her spot since he landed.

“Salena,” Vivian said gently, “we will leave tonight.”

Salena took a quick breath. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand and nodded.

“Yes, brother,” she said, her voice soft but steady.
