“A child?” Vivian asked, his brows knitting together as he looked at her in confusion.

She met his gaze without backing down.

Seeing her expression, Vivian fell silent for a moment. He thought carefully before speaking again.

“Are you certain?” he asked at last.

He truly disliked parties and loud celebrations. If it were up to him, he wouldn’t even tell anyone at all.

“But—” Charlotte spoke again, frowning slightly.

“What about the nobles? They’ll call us stingy. They’ll say, ’Hmph, the princess and the heir of Zenithara? So stingy they can’t even hold a celebration.’”

She even copied their voices, puffing out her cheeks and imitating the tone of those big-bellied nobles.

“Did something happen to him?” he asked again, worry finally showing on his face.

Charlotte slowly shook her head. “I can’t tell you,” she said softly. “Your mother won’t tell you either. Neither will Grandfather.”
