Chapter 20: Chapter 20: I’m Only Afraid of What’s in This Wine

After going downstairs, Clara Grant had barely answered her phone when she was surrounded by several men.

When she saw that short, fat slob from upstairs—the one who had been harassing her—standing in front of her reeking of alcohol with a lecherous grin, she immediately understood.

’So this fatty hadn’t given up after all. He actually chased me downstairs and even brought backup!’

Clara Grant’s expression turned icy. ’So, what’s the plan? Use being drunk as an excuse to go wild? Is he not going to stop until he gets his hands on me?’

After her recent “battle” with Seth Quinn upstairs, her mood was low, so she was in no mood to “play along” now.

Without even glancing at the fat man, Clara Grant parted her lips and coldly spat out two words: “Step aside!”

“Well now, sweetheart. Are you some kind of shapeshifting vixen? Upstairs you were fiery and passionate, but now you’re as cold as ice!” The man was clearly not going to be so easily dismissed. He just kept grinning and leaning toward her. “But, no matter which version, I… I like them both! HA HA HA…”

A chill went down Clara Grant’s spine. She subconsciously recoiled, but after only a few steps, she bumped into someone.

Before she could even turn around, a sleazy, giggling voice came from behind her. “Hey, girlie, it’s your honor that our President Lee has taken an interest in you. Why don’t you just be a good girl and come upstairs with us to, uh, have some fun with him?”

Clara Grant couldn’t even be bothered to turn around. She just frowned in disgust. With them blocking her front and back, it seemed escaping would be difficult.

While she was distracted, the fat man they called President Lee leaned in close again—so close that his breath sprayed across her face. The stench of alcohol mixed with his foul breath almost made Clara Grant vomit.

But President Lee paid no mind, his lecherous eyes roaming up and down her body. “Sweetheart, I told you upstairs, name your price. I can afford anything. Just spend one night with me, and if you make me happy… really happy… how about a hundred thousand!”

“President Lee, is it? That’s not very impressive. My starting price is five hundred thousand,” Clara Grant said with a sidelong glance, then tried to move past him and escape.

But President Lee and his men were no pushovers. Before she could even take a step, they had blocked her path again.

“Get out of my way!” Clara Grant had clearly lost her patience. Her mind couldn’t help but flash back to the things Seth Quinn had said to her, and her tone grew even more hostile.

’Sweetheart, sweetheart… Sweetheart my ass! Who does he think he is, Romeo?’

“My, my, sweetheart, you really drive a hard bargain.” Faced with his delectable prey, President Lee was clearly getting impatient. “How about this? You drink a glass of wine with me, and I’ll let you leave. What do you say?”

As he spoke, he gave a look, and one of his men immediately came forward with a bottle of red wine and a glass. The man poured a glass and handed it to him.

President Lee took it and held it out to Clara Grant. He said nothing, simply staring at her with hazy, drunken eyes filled with lust.

Clara Grant glanced at the glass. ’One drink is nothing to me. I’m just afraid there’s something in it!’

’Looking at the way President Lee seemed ready to devour her on the spot, how could he possibly let her go after just one drink?’

Naturally, Clara Grant had no intention of drinking it. She just gave the glass a cool glance and said, “Sorry, I don’t drink.”

“Are you afraid there’s something wrong with the wine, sweetheart?” President Lee chuckled sleazily, then downed the entire glass that was meant for Clara Grant without spilling a drop. He turned the empty glass upside down. “How about it? Still have any concerns?”

Clara Grant’s expression remained impassive. She neither agreed to drink nor refused.

“Well, it seems our sweetheart doesn’t want to show me any respect. You won’t drink, and you won’t come upstairs… so what are we to do?” President Lee handed the glass to one of his men, his impatience obvious.

With that, emboldened by the alcohol, he lunged directly at her. “I don’t mind devouring you right here and now…”
