Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Who Told You I’m the One Marrying into the Grant Family?
“Keep in mind, Seth is the next Family Head of the Quinn Family, so the choice for his wife must be made with the utmost care. Chloe Grant may be the current young lady of the Grant Family, but she was only officially acknowledged recently. Before that, she was raised on the outside. That background is more than a little disgraceful…”
“Sis,” Jenna’s words were cut short by Seth’s confused voice. “Who told you I was the one supposed to marry into the Grant Family?”
Jenna froze. “Huh? It’s not?”
’Seth is the oldest male heir in the Quinn Family and the future Family Head. When it comes to marriage, it should naturally be the eldest before the youngest. Shouldn’t his marriage be the first one on the table?’
“Of course not.” Before Seth could even open his mouth, Sienna Hale quickly explained, “How could it be Seth? Besides, Chloe Grant has her eyes on Miles.”
“Miles?” Jenna asked again, seeking confirmation. “Seth isn’t even married, but Miles is getting married before his older brother?”
“It’s not a big deal, really. People don’t care much about that sort of thing anymore. It’s common for younger siblings to get married before their older ones, so you don’t need to worry about it.”
Jenna let out a dry laugh. That wasn’t what she was concerned about; she was embarrassed that she’d completely misunderstood, thinking Seth was the one slated for the marriage alliance with the Grant Family.
Ever since she’d investigated the Grant family’s young lady, Chloe Grant, she had disliked the woman from the bottom of her heart.
But the Quinn Family’s marriage partner this time absolutely had to be someone from the Grant Family.
That was why she had resorted to “any means necessary” to put the former young lady of the Grant family, Clara Grant, in front of Seth, hoping he would take a liking to her.
If Seth took a liking to Clara, then the marriage candidate could be switched from Chloe Grant to Clara Grant!
She wasn’t just doing this for Seth, but for the entire Quinn Family. The future wife of the Quinn Family Head had to be Clara Grant.
After all, wasn’t Clara Grant far superior to Chloe Grant in every way, from her looks and character to her personality?
Even though Clara Grant’s mother, Skylar Hayes, and her father, Cedric Grant, were divorced, she was still Cedric’s biological daughter. That status was undeniable. Even if she had left the family with nothing, she was still a Grant.
Therefore, if Seth were to marry Clara Grant, it would still count as a marriage alliance between the Quinn and Grant families.
But she had never, ever imagined she had the wrong person.
If she’d known it was Miles and not Seth, she wouldn’t have been in such a hurry to return to the country with her son. And she wouldn’t have, in a desperate attempt to create a meeting between Clara and Seth, come up with that ridiculous plan to stuff her son in a suitcase and have Clara deliver him to Seth as a gift!
Still, no real harm was done. It would be best if Seth took a liking to Clara, but if he hadn’t yet, that was fine too. There was no rush, after all.
At this thought, Jenna patted her chest and breathed a sigh of relief. “As long as it’s not Seth, that’s fine.”
Miles Quinn, however, was not pleased. He scoffed, “What’s that supposed to mean, Sis? So our older brother can’t marry Chloe Grant, but it’s no big deal if I marry her?”
“Well now, Miles. From the sound of it, you don’t like this Chloe Grant either, huh?” Jenna said with a grin, reaching out to shake her little brother’s hand. “Great minds think alike!”
Miles Quinn gave her a knowing look with his handsome, charming eyes, then turned to Theodore Quinn. “Dad, I never agreed to marry Chloe Grant. And like my sister just said, our older brother isn’t even married yet. My turn shouldn’t come until after he’s tied the knot.”
Seth glanced at him and nonchalantly uttered, “I’m not in a rush.”
“Then I’m in even less of a rush.”
Theodore Quinn, who had been sitting silently this whole time, whipped his head around to glare at the two brothers. He boomed, “Insolence! Do you think you can simply decide not to be in a rush just because you say so?”
