Chapter 116: Episode 116: Fight Between Beasts

“I am angry.” He admitted.

Zarek’s eyes traveled over her. He looked at every inch. He looked at the bites on her breasts. The bruising on her hips where Syris’s hands had gripped her too tightly.

He looked at her stomach, which was slightly swollen, though Roxy hadn’t noticed yet.

His jaw clenched so hard that Roxy thought his teeth might crack.

He reached out, his thumb brushing over a particularly dark bite mark on her shoulder.

“He marked you everywhere,” Zarek whispered. It wasn’t a question. It was an accusation. “There isn’t an inch of you that doesn’t taste like him.”

“It’s the Season, Z,” Roxy said softly, shivering. “You also did the same when you were having yours.”

“I know,” Zarek snapped. “I know he is your mate. I know I have no right to be angry.”

He began to wipe her arm, scrubbing at the skin with firm, almost rough strokes. He wasn’t hurting her, but he was erasing the scent.

It made his hair stand on end because, although he doesn’t say it often anymore, he wants to be the only one who branded her scent on her.

Too bad.

“I hate it,” Zarek muttered, scrubbing her neck. “I hate that you smell like the earth. I hate that you are trembling because of him. I hate that I was in the kitchen chopping carrots while he was breaking you.”

He stopped scrubbing. He dropped the cloth into the rising water.

He placed both hands on the rim of the tub, trapping her between his arms, leaning in until his nose was an inch from hers.

Roxy looked into his eyes. She saw the dragon there, possessive, greedy, and deeply hurt.

She was tongue-tied for a second before she finally found her words.

“I will spend more time with you, okay?” She promised, and his eyes immediately twinkled in satisfaction.

Now, who was the big dog here between him and Kaelen?

While Zarek was in the bathroom playing the role of the brooding, possessive nursemaid, the living room was finally quiet.

Kaelen sat on the oversized bear-skin rug, surrounded by a fortress of pillows he had constructed to corral the children.

He was currently holding a wooden spoon and pretending it was a wand to entertain Iris.

“And then,” Kaelen whispered, his voice grave, “the brave wolf howled at the moon, and the moon blinked.”

Whatever that meant.

Iris giggled, clapping her hands. “Moon!”

Axel and Onyx were less impressed by the story and more interested in wrestling each other in a pile of blankets, while Drax was trying to balance his stuffed wolf on Kaelen’s head.

Everything looked normal.

Until the bedroom door opened again.

Kaelen stopped his story. And stared Syris, who had slithered out, in half-human, half-snake form.

If Roxy had looked wrecked, Syris looked like he was behaving at the time of his life.

His skin, fresh from the molt, was flawless, pale, and glowing with a faint greenish hue in the dim light.

His muscles were defined, rippling with the lazy power of a predator who had just spent five days feeding his soul.

He stretched, his spine cracking audibly, a satisfied groan rumbling deep in his chest in satisfaction. He didn’t think Roxy would spend so much time with him, but he was so happy, his blood was pumping south.

He walked into the living room, intending to head to the kitchen for water.

But his path was blocked.

Torian stood in the center of the room.

The Tiger King had finally picked himself up off the floor after he regained himself. He had straightened his robes, though they were still rumpled, his hair was tied back, but his eyes still looked wild.

The snake had the audacity to come out after what it had done.

Syris expected him to move, but Torian didn’t move. So he tried to walk around him, but Torian stood directly in Syris’s path, his arms crossed over his chest, his jaw set in a line of granite.

Syris stopped. He looked at the Tiger, and a slow, lazy smirk spread across his lips.

“Move, Cat,” Syris said, his voice raspy and deep. “I am thirsty.”

“You should be,” Torian spat, his voice trembling with suppressed rage. “You drained yourself dry. Do you have any dignity left? Or did you leave it all on the sheets?”

Syris chuckled. It was dark and challenging. “Dignity? I left nothing but satisfaction, Torian. She was… magnificent.”

Torian flinched. His hands curled into fists at his sides. “Do not speak of her.”

“Why not?” Syris stepped closer, invading Torian’s personal space. The height difference was very visible, but Syris didn’t back away. “I know every inch of her. I know the sound she makes when she breaks. I know how she tastes when she begs.”

He leaned in, his neon-green eyes boring into Torian’s blue ones.

“And I noticed something interesting, Torian.”

“What?” Torian hissed, his canines extending slightly.

“Her skin,” Syris whispered, his voice dripping with mock pity. “I mapped her body with my tongue for five days. I found the Wolf’s bite on her neck, the Dragon’s wings on her womb. And I placed my own claim down her spine.”

Syris tapped Torian’s chest with a long finger.

“But I found nothing from you.”

Torian went rigid. His mind went black, and the only thing he could see was red.

“You are nothing on her skin,” Syris taunted, his smirk widening. “You buy her silk. You buy her wine. You act the part of the King. But when she is naked… when she is writhing in the dark… There is no proof you ever touched her. That is pathetic.”

The sound of fist meeting jaw echoed in the living room. Kaelen gasped.

Torian didn’t warn him; his fist just connected with Syris’s cheekbone, snapping the Basilisk’s head to the side. He snickered, finally feeling good for himself for what happened.

Kaelen sighed from the floor, covering Iris’s ears. “Here we go.”

Syris touched his jaw, feeling the bruise already forming. He spat a mouthful of blood onto the floor. He looked at Torian. The smirk was gone. In its place was the cold, flat stare of a reptile.

Torian could defeat him. But after staying with Roxy for those days, he finally felt like the man she needed.

He was not going to stand there and let another male bully him.

“You want to fight?” Syris asked softly. “Fine. Let’s see if your claws are as sharp as your jealousy.”

There was a wet, tearing sound as Syris shifted into a massive, forty-foot Basilisk. His emerald scales scraped against the ceiling beams.

He hissed, a sound that rattled the windows.

Torian didn’t back down. He also shifted into his tiger form, wanting to teach the stupid snake a lesson.

“Children,” Kaelen announced calmly, picking up Iris and grabbing Axel by the back of his shirt. “To the long chair.”

He moved the kids out of the chaos just as the Titans clashed, and it wasn’t a graceful fight.

The Tiger lunged, his massive paws slamming into the Basilisk’s coils. Syris whipped his tail, smashing Torian into the heavy iron-wood dining table, reducing it to splinters in seconds.

Wood flew everywhere. A chair disintegrated against the wall.

“Wooooo,” Axel cheered, bouncing on the sofa. He was barking excitedly, treating the battle of apex predators like Saturday morning cartoons.

“Go snake!!” Drax yelled, confused about which dad had which power. “Use the venom!”

Kaelen rolled his eyes, but seriously, he was enjoying this; it reminded him of when he and Zarek fought.

Iris watched with wide, awed eyes, giggling as Syris’s massive tail knocked a row of wooden plates off the shelf. “Crash!” she squealed happily.

Nobody knew if she was happy because the kings were busy destroying the house.

Torian sank his claws into Syris’s scales, trying to find purchase. Syris hissed in pain and coiled around the Tiger, squeezing. They rolled across the floor, knocking over the coat rack, the bookshelf, and crushing the rug.

Kaelen sat on the armrest of the sofa, watching a piece of debris fly past his head. He caught it, a piece of a table leg, and tossed it aside.

He didn’t intervene. Alpha males needed to sort out their hierarchy, and frankly, the furniture was already doomed.

“Watch the left hook,” Kaelen critiqued dryly as Torian swiped at Syris’s head.

The fight escalated. Torian, fueled by days of pent-up frustration and Syris’s cruel words, launched himself with reckless abandon. He leaped off the remains of the table, tackling the snake’s head.

Honestly, it was funny to watch, because if Torian wanted to kill the snake, he would have, but.

But Kaelen didn’t know that Torian was indeed having problems. He always thought of Roxy and how she would react, but the more they fought, the more he was determined to kill this snake.

The snake had become stronger.

Syris thrashed. His massive body whipped around, slamming into the outer wall of the cabin.

The wood groaned, splintered, and then gave way.

A massive hole, about four feet wide, punched through the logs. The cold winter wind and a flurry of snow instantly blew into the living room, swirling around the combatants.

They didn’t stop. Torian was snarling, biting at Syris’s neck. Syris was trying to crush Torian’s ribs.

Just then, the bathroom door slammed open, and Roxy stepped out.

They didn’t notice her.

She was clean. She was warm. She was wearing one of Zarek’s oversized black robes that pulled down her feet. Her hair was damp and combed. She felt human again. She was hungry.

But the thing she walked into was her house in disaster, and two beasts were chewing into each other.

Like, what the hall is really going on?

Tf?

She looked at the splintered remains of the dining table. She looked at the bookshelf spilling books onto the wet floor. She looked at the gaping hole in the wall where snow was currently piling up on her favorite rug.

And then she looked at the center of the chaos: A giant White Tiger and a giant Green Basilisk locked in a death roll, destroying everything she owned.

The boys were cheering. Kaelen was just watching with a bored look on his face when he finally noticed Roxy. He straightened immediately.

Something inside Roxy snapped.

She walked straight up to the writhing mass of muscle and scales. Torian was just preparing to bite Syris’s tail. Syris was winding up for a strike.

Roxy reached out.

With her left hand, she grabbed the thick, scaled girth of the Basilisk’s body, right where it narrowed near the tail.

With her right hand, she reached out and grabbed Torian’s ear.

“ENOUGH!” Roxy bellowed. Everyone was silenced immediately.

Torian froze mid-growl. The pain in his ear was sharp and humiliating.

Syris stiffened, realizing a very small, very angry hand was gripping his sensitive tail scales.

They both stopped moving. They looked at her.

Roxy stood there, barefoot, holding two apex predators like misbehaving puppies. Her eyes were blazing with a fire that scared them more than any enemy would.

She squeezed Syris’s tail hard, making the snake thrash around in pain.

“I leave for twenty minutes to wash your scent off me, and you destroy my house?”

She looked from the giant snake head to the giant tiger head.

“What the fuck are you guys doing?!”
