“I cannot allow that.” Zarek spat out in a gruff tone, and Roxy rolled her eyes.

He carried Roxy back to the sofa, depositing her among the cushions like a precious, fragile gem.

“You cannot keep doing this,” Zarek rumbled, crossing his massive arms over his chest. His golden eyes burned with frustration, not at her, but at the situation. “You are carrying a child that drains your strength. You just stood in the snow screaming. You need to rest, Roxy. Leave the governing to us.”

“I agree with the lizard,” Kaelen grunted, walking back into the room. “The pack can wait. You need to rest until that baby is out of you.”

“And let Jareth sell his sister next?” Roxy countered, rubbing her throbbing temples. “We opened Pandora’s Box, boys. If we don’t set the rules now, while the coin is still new, the strong will exploit the weak. By next week, we’ll have a slave trade and a monopoly on grain. I won’t have that blood on my hands.”

She looked up at them, her expression leaving no room for argument.

“I don’t have a choice. We need to regulate this across the board. Not just for the Wolves, but for everyone.”

Torian sighed, smoothing his silk robes. “So, you wish to travel? In your condition? Absolutely not.”

He thought she wanted to see every species, but Roxy was not suicidal to do that.

“No travel,” Roxy said, shifting to find a comfortable spot for her belly. “We bring the mountain to Muhammad. We will have the meeting here.”

“Here?” Syris asked from his armchair, raising a skeptical eyebrow. “This cabin is… cozy. You intend to host a summit in your living room? Wasn’t that too small?”

Roxy nodded her head. It was indeed small, but it was warm enough and still large enough to allow everyone to have breathing room.

They just had to clear some things.

“It’s neutral ground,” Roxy insisted. “And it’s warm. And I’m not leaving my sofa.”

She pointed a finger at Kaelen.

“Kaelen. Go get Vorn, Mara, and the key Wolf Elders.”

Kaelen looked at the door, then back at her. He didn’t like leaving her, but he knew the look in her eyes. The Luna had given an order.

And Roxy was darn stubborn.

“Fine,” Kaelen growled.

He grabbed his fur cloak and stormed out.

Roxy turned her gaze to Torian. The Tiger King was watching her with a mix of worry and curiosity.

“Rian,” she said softly.

“I am here,” he stepped closer.

“I need you to contact the Citadel,” Roxy said. “Call for your Regent. And tell him to bring his mate.”

Torian froze. His ears twitched. “My Regent? Tigar? Why would you summon him? He manages the gold supply; he has no business with laws.”

“It’s not about the laws for him,” Roxy said, her voice dropping to a whisper. “It’s about… the problem.”

Torian went very still. “The problem?”

“The emptiness in the nurseries,” Roxy clarified gently. “The reason the Tiger population is dwindling. Remember, I told you I had a solution?”

More like the system had a solution.

Torian’s eyes widened.

The low fertility rate of the High-Tier beasts, especially the Tigers and Dragons, was a plague on their kind. It was why he had been so desperate to claim Roxy, who had given birth and helped the dragons.

He wanted to ask. But then clipped his tongue.

“I will summon him,” Torian said, his voice trembling slightly. “If you can fix that, Roxy… you will be more than a Queen to them. You will be a Goddess.”

He bowed low, a gesture of profound respect, and turned to leave.

With the Wolf and Tiger dispatched, Roxy looked up at the Dragon King.

“Zarek,” she said.

Zarek turned to her, giving her a gentle look. “You want me to go to the peaks?” he guessed.

“I want Malcor,” Roxy nodded. “Tell him to come with Vorian and Lyra, since she gave birth, I didn’t have the chance to see if they had hatched.”

“Malcor does not like tight spaces,” Zarek truthfully replied. “And he does not respect laws.”

“He respects you,” Roxy smiled weakly, touching his cheek. “And he likes shiny things, he would be very helpful. Fly fast, Z. I need you back before lunch.”

Zarek leaned in and kissed her hard. “Do not move from this spot,” he commanded. “I will return soon.”

Roxy nodded with a small smile.

He walked out of the cabin and launched himself into the sky, shifting into his massive black dragon form mid-air.

Suddenly, it was quiet.

The house was empty, save for Syris and Roxy.

Syris sat in his armchair, his injured tail carefully coiled on a pillow. He looked at the door where the others had left, the strong, able-bodied Kings off on important missions. Then he looked at his own bandaged form.

He didn’t know why he had not fully healed yet. This injury was making him very useless.

“Syris,” Roxy called out softly.

He snapped his head toward her. “Yes? Do you need water? Is the pain returning?”

He started to rise, wincing as his tail muscles contracted.

Roxy chuckled and patted the empty cushion beside her on the sofa.

“Come here,” she said, her eyes warm and inviting, as she waved him over.

Syris slithered to the sofa and sat down carefully, arranging his limbs so as not to disturb her.

Roxy immediately leaned into him, resting her head on his shoulder. She grabbed his hand, the one with the long, elegant fingers, and placed it on her belly.

“Right there,” she sighed. “The baby likes your cold hands.”

Syris felt the tension leave his body. He no longer felt useless again with Roxy behaving this way. He wrapped his arm around her, resting his cheek on her hair.

“I can do that,” he whispered. “I can hold you.”

They sat like that for a long time, the silence of the cabin wrapping around them. Until they came along.

“MAMA!”

The nursery door banged open. The triplets had awakened.

Axel led the charge, his hair sticking up like a dandelion. Onyx followed, dragging his blanket. Iris was in Drax’s arms as they followed behind Axel and Onyx.

“Hungry!” Axel declared, climbing onto the coffee table.

“Food!” Onyx agreed.

“Nom nom?” Iris asked hopefully, as she leaned into her brother’s arms.

Drax, like a big brother he was, didn’t even feel Iris’ weight as if this was not the first time he was carrying.

Roxy was not surprised. He was half dragon after all.

She groaned, trying to sit up. “Oh god. The locusts are awake.”

She looked at the clock on the System interface. It was past breakfast time. Her stomach gave a treacherous growl, agreeing with the children.

“Okay,” Roxy said, bracing her hands on her knees to push herself up. “Breakfast time. I need to make porridge. And maybe eggs. And then I have to bathe three toddlers before the Dragon Lords arrive.”

She winced as a sharp pain shot through her lower back.

“Do not move,” Syris said, his hand tightening on her shoulder to keep her down.

“But they’re hungry,” Roxy argued. “If I don’t feed them, Axel will start eating the furniture.”

“I will handle it,” Syris stated, standing up.

Roxy looked up at him. “You?”

“Yes,” Syris said, smoothing his tunic. Staring back at her.

“You know how to cook, Syris?”
