Chapter 55: The Death of Greymane

Roy held Jane down, and they both watched as Chris grabbed Pierre but the neck and threw him across the room.

Jane screamed for Pierre.

Roy watched as tears streamed down the corner of Chris’s eyes as he grew in size and might, all the while roaring like a wild beast coming out of hibernation.

’Chris is also an Irregular?!’ Roy’s mind raced, and he looked around at the frightened and fearful gazes of their classmates as they ran out of the classroom screaming for help.

Jane ran out of Roy’s grip to tend to Pierre. Ignoring the tinge in his heart, Roy stood up and screamed at Chris.

Chris dashed to the class door, flipping tables and breaking chairs. Reaching there, he swiped his arm, flinging a boy and a girl away, and blocked the exit.

“ALL OF YOU MUST PAY!!!”

Chris screamed. The thick red and black veins bulging on his face, neck, and arms made him look like something out of the abyss.

“Chris! What are you doing?! Stop!” Roy screamed.

The students screamed and cried in worry for their lives when Chris rushed to Jane and grabbed her neck.

“Ack! Ack!” She struggled, tiptoeing in an attempt to touch solid ground, but her legs just flailed in the air.

“This bitch! This bitch! I always hated this bitch!” He said in a more controlled voice. His eyes were bloodshot red, and Jane stared at her reflection in his cold pupils.

A dog-like creature barked and jumped on Chris, biting down on his neck, causing him to release Jane.

“Jane!!!” Roy screamed and caught her after she plopped down to the ground.

She coughed profusely as she tried to catch her breath, but still managed to squeeze out, “Pierre—”

“Not now!” Roy growled and carried her away from the front of the classroom, where Greymane fought with a crazed Chris.

Chris grabbed the soulhound and wrestled it off him, then threw it to the back of the class, where the students his under desks.

Greymane landed with a loud crash, and Chris looked down at Pierre, who was struggling to crawl away, but blood ran down his head, and his back ached like hell.

Chris laughed thunderously and stepped on Pierre’s leg, eliciting a loud groan from the bastard.

“Pierre, the ladies’ man. I hated you, but I always wanted to be you. I liked Jane too, you know, but you’re better than me, I guess. More handsome. I am so invisible to everyone. You all always treated me like trash. Now who’s the trash?”

He grabbed Pierre’s head and pulled backward with his herculean strength, while his foot still held down Pierre’s leg.

“Aaaahhh!” Pierre screamed in agony. His spine was literally being stretched, and his head was held in a vice.

Chris continued stretching him. “I’m going to break you. Ruin your pretty face. I always wanted to.”

Greymane charged and bit down on Chris’s hand. Chris groaned and let go of Pierre to face the strange beast.

“Chris, what is happening to you?” Roy asked as he grabbed Pierre and pulled him back.

“I feel… ALIVE!”

A few students used the distraction to crawl out of the classroom, but Chris threw Greymane over there, and that made the door close.

Chris then threw the broken desks there, but Greymane dodged. However, this barricaded the doors, and Chris knew this.

Chris, at one point, was pressed down by Greymane, but held the dog by the neck to stop its teeth from biting down on his face.

Chris monologued.

“Roy, you always saw me as a fat loser, didn’t you? How long have you had a system? You even have an abyss soul, and you didn’t tell me. Now everyone is talking about you. They fear you. I’m jealous. I’m so damn jealous!”

The veins bulged, and his muscles grew again, then he punched Greymane!

Roy worriedly called out for it, but Chris caught the strange beast and hammered blows on it.

“I HATE YOU, ROY! I HATE YOU ALL!!!”

As Chris got angrier, his muscles bulged even more, and his blows struck Greymane harder. The Strange Beast was just as strong as him, but he had thumbs, and it only had a paw. Of course, Chris’s face, neck, and body were marred with scratch marks, but that only served to fuel his anger more.

’He’s getting bigger and stronger by the second,’ Roy thought and screamed at everyone.

“Block your ears!”

He said to the students and let Greymane use his [Beastly Howl] on Chris, which it then did.

Chris groaned and plopped to the ground. Blood streamed down his ears, but he charged at Greymane and caught its mouth.

Like Samson, he grabbed the upper and lower parts of its mouth, aiming to tear the creature in half.

Roy, unwilling to lose his abyss soul, called it back into his system. But he was too late.

“Greymane!”

Chris tore the strange beast in half, drawing screams from Roy and the other students.

[Host, your Abyss Soul has been destroyed.]

“NO!!!” Roy wanted to run forward, but someone held him back.

Chris stood amidst the blue blocks of Greymane’s destruction and turned to the remaining students.

Roy felt the anger rise from his stomach.

He breathed heavily and put his hand in his pockets, and absorbed the energy crystals that were inside.

’Always carry energy crystals with you,’ Roy repeated his mentor’s words. He looked back at the scared faces of his classmates.

Jane held onto Pierre, but the handsome bastard brought an apple at some point and ate it, healing himself. The students who noted the pink blocks that the item materialized in figured out his secret, but were too preoccupied with keeping themselves alive to care enough to ask.

’This is all the bastard’s fault! Why did he have to trigger Chris?! Why?! Now the bastard killed Greymane!’ Roy angrily thought and used his [2x Multiplier] skill.

With legs coursing with renewed energy, Roy entered a standoff with Chris.

’He doesn’t have any experience in fighting. He had just been throwing hands like an angry fat child. I can do this!’

Roy let out a roar like a warrior delving into an army of three hundred.

BAM!

Sometime later, Roy heard the sound of an ambulance, and his eyes tickled open tiredly. The left side of his vision was obscured.

“Wh-What happened?”

“You suffered a head trauma. Don’t worry, it’s alright now. You will be fine,” the first respondent said.

But Roy could only think of one thing:

’Greymane. I… lost, right?’

His vision blurred as tears welled up in his eyes.

A hooded figure stood across from the school gate right when an ambulance drove out.

A small crowd had formed to understand what was happening.

“Well, that was fun,” they whispered.

“I told you not to be too harsh, Arlen,” their shadow spoke.

“I wasn’t,” said the hooded person, Arlen. “I wanted to see why Mr. Cross can’t shut up about him.”

“…”

“Heh. I’ve decided. I will take the Entrance Exam too.” Arlen smiled devilishly. “Ah, I can’t wait. I’m going to break his new toy.”
