Chapter 121: The Knight Order Guild.
“He killed them!”
“He killed them all!”
A young man clad in a long black robe muttered to himself as he fled deeper into the Uncharted Territory.
His face was pale, twisted with dread, and his breathing came in ragged gasps.
Sweat drenched his back despite the cold wind that swept across the barren land.
Again and again, he glanced over his shoulder, as if expecting a legion of undead to rise from the ground behind him.
“How could anyone control so many undead? It’s impossible…”
“How did he manage that?”
“No one should be able to control so many undead at once!”
“Why has he not gone mad?”
The words tumbled out of his mouth in a frantic stream, disjointed and trembling. He sounded like a man on the verge of losing his sanity.
His eyes were bloodshot, wide with disbelief and terror.
The more he replayed the scene in his mind, the more his thoughts spiraled out of control.
The image of the silver-haired boy standing calmly amid an army of undead refused to fade.
An entire beast tide.
An Iron Roar Komodo.
All turned into obedient servants.
His mind felt as if it were cracking under the weight of that realization.
As he ran deeper into the Uncharted Territory, he encountered several powerful beasts.
Massive creatures lurked behind jagged rocks, and shadows shifted between twisted trees.
Yet when those beasts sensed him, they stiffened.
Their eyes widened.
Then they retreated.
Some slunk away into the darkness. Others lowered their bodies and silently withdrew, as if avoiding a predator far more dangerous than themselves.
It was as though he carried the presence of something terrifying.
And yet, on the surface, he was merely a Level 15 Beast Tamer in his early twenties.
Nothing extraordinary.
Nothing imposing.
However, those with keen perception and strong Spirit would have sensed the strange aura radiating from his body.
It was not an ordinary aura.
It was ancient.
Oppressive.
Wild.
It was an aura that caused beasts to tremble instinctively, as if facing their natural superior.
“I need to report this…” he muttered, his scattered thoughts gradually regaining focus.
The fear in his eyes did not disappear, but it was replaced by something else, fanatical determination.
His pupils burned with intensity.
He increased his speed, boots striking the earth in rapid succession. His heart pounded violently against his ribs.
Discovering such a secret made his blood run cold.
The existence of that silver-haired boy was a threat.
A catastrophic threat.
If left unchecked, he would become an obstacle to their cause.
And obstacles had to be eliminated.
Meanwhile, Thoren sat calmly on the back of the Undead Mad Dog Mistveil. His silver hair streamed wildly behind him in the wind, but his expression remained indifferent.
The Undead Mad Dog Mistveil sprinted across the remnants of the basin and soon entered a vast grassland.
The plain was covered in yellowish flowers that stretched as far as the eye could see. The blossoms swayed gently under the breeze, creating a tranquil and almost picturesque scene.
At first glance, it looked peaceful.
Serene.
But Thoren did not slow down.
He knew better.
Beneath that endless sea of yellow flowers lurked numerous Level 13, Level 14, and Level 15 beasts, hiding patiently in the shadows.
Some burrowed beneath the soil. Others concealed themselves within dense clusters of vegetation.
The beauty of the field was nothing but a disguise.
A hunting ground.
Thoren had deliberately released a trace of his aura to prevent the beasts from attacking.
Though he wished to grow stronger as quickly as possible, he had no interest in wasting time on prey that posed no challenge.
Those beasts were too weak for him now.
If he wanted to grow, he needed stronger opponents.
Level 17.
Level 18.
Level 19.
Those were his targets.
Anything below that was not worth his effort.
As the Undead Mad Dog Mistveil raced through the sea of flowers, Thoren’s ears twitched slightly.
A faint frown appeared on his face.
“That’s the sound of battle…” he murmured.
He turned his head toward the southeast.
From that direction came the distant clash of metal and the rumbling roars of enraged beasts.
The sound carried faintly on the wind, but it was unmistakable.
He hesitated briefly, weighing his options.
“The direction still aligns with my route,” he whispered.
Ever since discovering that someone had been observing him, he had no intention of letting that rat escape.
He had already lost the trace of Dark Tide energy once due to an ambush.
He would not allow history to repeat itself.
He was decisive.
The moment he resolved to investigate, he commanded his mount to change direction.
The Undead Mad Dog Mistveil veered southeast without hesitation.
They shot through the sea of flowers like an arrow released from a drawn bow. The farther they traveled, the clearer the sounds of combat became.
Roars.
Shouts.
The ringing clash of steel against claw.
Soon, the Undead Mad Dog Mistveil ascended a small hill.
From the top, Thoren looked down.
His eyes narrowed slightly.
“The Knight Order…” he whispered.
Between two hills stood a large formation of armored figures. The Knight Order Guild engaged in fierce combat against an overwhelming beast tide.
Compared to the beast tide Thoren had encountered earlier, this one was on an entirely different scale.
It stretched beyond what the eye could measure.
Thousands of beasts surged forward in relentless waves, their howls shaking the air.
Yet the Knight Order held their ground.
Their formation was tight and disciplined. Shields locked together. Broadswords rose and fell in swift, clean arcs.
Every strike was precise, every movement coordinated.
They did not falter.
The Knight Order was known as the strongest guild within the Abyss.
Every single one of their members was a knight. They never recruited from other professions. Their unity of class created unparalleled synergy in battle.
Watching them fight, Thoren felt genuine respect.
He had learned from Arin that the Knight Order Guild was renowned for its righteousness.
They abhorred evil and fought tirelessly for the protection of humanity.
Their sole mission was to end the Abyss.
For that mission, they never compromised—even in death.
That was why they were deeply respected on the surface. Many wished to join their ranks, but few were given the opportunity.
To join the Knight Order, one had to be a knight and possess at least a C-Rank Talent.
Even then, acceptance was not guaranteed.
Thoren also remembered what Arin had told him about the tension between the Knight Order and the Federation.
They were like fire and water.
More than once, the Federation had attempted to suppress the Knight Order’s growth from the shadows. That alone revealed how corrupt the Federation had become.
To continue pursuing their mission without interference, the Knight Order had distanced themselves from the Federation.
Unless there was a major crisis threatening humanity, they refused to involve themselves in the Federation’s internal affairs.
As Thoren observed the battle from the hilltop, his expression remained calm.
However, he was not the only one watching.
Several knights within the formation had already noticed him.
Their gazes lifted toward the hill.
And for a brief moment, amid the chaos of roaring beasts and clashing steel, their eyes met his.
