Chapter 257: Three Goddesses at the Tower of Ascension
The battle in the western district of the city had finally come to an end. After everything settled, Ethan took to the sky while still relying on Sera’s power.
He flew steadily, holding Luna securely in both of his arms. Her body was light, unconscious, and completely still.
Behind them, Sera followed closely, her presence calm yet alert, making sure nothing unexpected happened during their return.
Several people on the ground stopped what they were doing and lifted their heads toward the sky.
Their eyes widened as they clearly saw Ethan flying through the air. It was a sight none of them had ever witnessed before.
Some pointed upward, others whispered among themselves, unsure whether what they were seeing was real.
For most citizens, flight was something that only existed in legends or high level abilities they had never encountered directly.
Traveling through the air was far faster than moving on foot. In just a matter of minutes, Ethan arrived at the front courtyard of LionArk Headquarters.
He descended smoothly and landed without error, his feet touching the ground with controlled precision.
The worry that had been weighing heavily on Ashley’s heart immediately faded the moment she saw Ethan arrive safely.
Relief replaced anxiety as she hurried forward and stopped right in front of him. Her eyes moved to Luna, who remained unconscious in his arms.
“What happened?” Ashley asked, her voice tense with concern.
“Her power calmed down,” Ethan replied.
“She’s stable now.”
Ashley let out a quiet breath she did not realize she had been holding.
Ethan quickly called over several guild members and instructed them to carry Luna to her room.
They nodded in understanding and carefully placed Luna onto a stretcher, lifting her with caution as they carried her inside.
The aftermath of the battle was not without consequences. The clash had caused damage to parts of LionArk Headquarters and several nearby homes belonging to the city’s residents.
Cracked walls, shattered stone, and collapsed structures were clear evidence of how intense the fight had been.
Ethan turned his head and surveyed the surroundings. Sections of the headquarters wall were destroyed, and several houses near the compound had suffered severe damage.
“Cover all their losses,” Ethan said firmly.
“I will take responsibility for everything.”
“I already took care of that,” Ashley replied calmly.
This battle had drawn significant public attention. Some people were worried, others frightened, and many confused by what they had witnessed.
Ethan stepped forward and addressed the crowd, reassuring them that the core issue had already been resolved and that there was no longer any immediate danger.
He also ordered the city security authority to actively work on maintaining stability throughout the city.
Ethan was concerned that moments of chaos like this could be exploited by those looking to create disorder.
Many guild members followed his commands without hesitation. They were dispatched in groups of three to areas known for criminal activity, while the remaining members were assigned to guard the headquarters itself.
Ethan felt relieved as he saw order gradually being restored. With the situation stabilizing, he instructed Sera to remain close to Luna at all times.
If Luna were to lose control again, Sera would be there to stop her immediately.
Once everything outside LionArk Headquarters was under control, Ethan headed inside and climbed to the second floor, where Luna’s room was located.
Ashley walked alongside him, both of them curious and concerned about Luna’s current condition.
The door to the room was open. A priestess turned toward them and calmly explained Luna’s condition.
“Her vital signs are stable,” the priestess said.
“There are no serious injuries.”
“In a few hours, she should recover fully thanks to her regenerative ability,” she continued.
“Regenerative ability?” Ashley asked in surprise.
The priestess nodded. She could sense that Luna possessed strong regenerative powers, but for reasons she could not yet identify, the recovery process had been unusually slow.
Further examination would be required to determine what was interfering with it. She explained this to both Ethan and Ashley.
Luna was the Goddess of the Night. Sera also clarified that Luna’s powers weakened during the daytime.
There was a strong possibility that Luna’s regeneration would become more effective once night arrived.
“Alright. Thank you for your hard work. You may go,” Ashley said.
The priestess nodded and left the room along with the rest of her team, leaving only Ethan, Ashley, and Sera behind.
The three of them remained quietly by Luna’s bedside, observing her condition.
“I never imagined someone like her would be a goddess,” Ashley said softly.
“How did you even meet her?” she asked.
Ethan was silent for a moment. His gaze remained fixed on Luna as she slept peacefully on the bed.
The crescent mark on her forehead was clearly visible, glowing faintly under the dim light.
After a brief pause, he lifted his head and began telling Ashley everything that had happened.
Ashley listened in silence, fully focused on his story.
She was stunned to realize that the rewards from events felt insignificant compared to the rewards from the Limited Side Quest Ethan had completed for Luna.
She also understood something important. Luna, as a goddess, was one of the most sought after entities by players who wished to escape the game.
Yet after witnessing Luna and Sera’s power firsthand, Ashley knew that no player currently alive possessed abilities capable of matching either of them.
“So you’re going to protect them?” Ashley asked.
“Yes,” Ethan replied without hesitation.
“They’re important to me now. Of course I’ll protect them,” he continued.
“LionArk will provide everything Luna needs while she stays here. I’ll make sure her secret doesn’t leak outside,” Ashley said.
“Thank you, Ashley,” Ethan replied sincerely.
After that, Ashley excused herself to continue her duties, leaving Ethan alone with Sera as they watched over Luna.
Ethan pulled a wooden chair closer and sat beside Luna’s bed. His eyes traced her calm expression, her navy blue hair, and the crescent mark on her forehead.
She looked completely different from Sera, both in appearance and presence.
“Lunareth, Seraphelis,” Ethan said quietly.
“So who is the third one?”
“Thalmera,” Sera answered, turning her head toward him.
Ethan narrowed his eyes slightly, trying to recall where he had heard that name before.
He searched through his memories carefully. After some time, realization struck him.
“The Telmarian Tribe mentioned Thalmera before,” Ethan said.
“I don’t know much about that,” Sera replied.
“But Thalmera has always been associated with nature. She is the Goddess of Nature.”
Ethan fell silent. Luna’s situation was not fully resolved yet, and he had no desire to go searching for Thalmera at the moment.
His priority was restoring Luna to her normal state and ensuring that the power within her body remained stable.
For some reason, Ethan felt confident that Luna would not lose control again. The thousand Moon Fragments had already merged completely with her body.
The Limited Side Quest tied to Luna had been completed, and he had already received his reward. There was no clear reason for Luna to rampage again.
Throughout the day, Ethan remained in Luna’s room, watching over her and making sure her condition remained stable.
Day gradually turned into night. The moment the sun set beyond the horizon, a deep navy blue aura slowly began to emanate from Luna’s body.
The sudden change startled both Ethan and Sera, causing them to tense up immediately.
However, their concern quickly faded when they realized the aura was Luna’s regenerative power activating.
Ethan could clearly see her wounds healing. Bruises faded away, her complexion regained its glow, and her breathing became steady and strong.
The regeneration taking place at night was far more effective than during the day.
“No doubt about it,” Ethan murmured.
“She truly is the Goddess of the Night.”
Several hours after the regeneration process began, Luna’s eyes slowly opened. The first person she saw was Ethan.
“Brother… Ethan?” Luna asked weakly.
Without thinking, she sat up and wrapped her arms tightly around him. She pressed her face against his chest, her tears flowing freely as if all the fear and pain she had been holding back finally poured out.
“Thank you for helping me regain my senses,” Luna said through her sobs.
Ethan smiled gently. He raised his hand and softly stroked Luna’s navy blue hair, calming her emotions little by little.
“You’re important to me,” Ethan said.
“Just like Sera is. Of course I would save you.”
“I’m glad you’re safe now. Tonight, focus on recovering. Sera will stay here with you,” he added.
Luna wiped away her tears and smiled, her sadness slowly replaced by warmth and happiness.
“Thank you, Brother Ethan,” she said softly.
I was afraid I would lose everything, but he was there. He always is.
Ethan watched her smile and felt a quiet sense of relief settle in his chest. For now, everything was calm. And for him, that was enough.
After making sure Luna was okay, Ethan left the room and headed to his office.
He needed to focus on handling matters after the fight, preventing the chaos from being exploited by a group of criminals.
