After a few more minutes, all the unpacking had finally been finished, and Evelina’s carriage was now ready to be boarded, her guards already gesturing for her to enter.

“That took a while…”

She tapped her arm, already planning to enter, until I stopped her.

“Do you wish to arrive sooner in the academy?”

I offered, surely someone like her wouldn’t want to waste time on a simple trip; it was better if she could wait in the academy for her entourage to arrive and do something productive.

“I’m well aware that you’re skilled, but moving two people at once would require intense mastery.”

Evelina looked at me with a confused expression; it was clear that even she didn’t think I was able to execute something like that.

And I don’t blame her, at this point, only the professors should be skilled enough to execute something like that.

The sheer mental overload of teleporting two people at a distance like that would nearly make any new student pass out.

Even S-Ranks, and that was still just a title, we were S-Ranks in potential, not full-blown S-Ranks yet.

“I can do it.”

I said confidently, Chaos step was far simpler than Shadow step after all.

Evelina didn’t answer yet, giving my idea some thought, but in the end, accepted my deal.

If anything were to go wrong, it would only harm me, the caster, and the worst it could do was make me pass out due to the mental overload; it wasn’t a permanent crippling condition.

She was willing to risk it.

She answered, calling one of her servants and ordering him to let the carriage go on without her.

Even if my spell was a failure, she could always just take the steam train to school.

She stepped closer to me, enough that our bodies were inches apart. “Go on, don’t keep me waiting.”

I spoke, then just like that, activated my spell that sucked the two of us into the ground.

And without even a second later, we reappeared in front of the academy’s dormitory building, and luckily enough, it was still fairly early, and nearly no students were there to see it.

“T-That…” Evelina muttered under her breath.

“You used chaos magic…?”

At this point, Evelina was already a practitioner of demonology, subtly imbuing it into her spells through various contracts with weaker demons, effectively turning them into pawns by locking them into a losing contract.

“Nothing less, nothing more,” I replied.

Evelina blinked once, then laughed. She hadn’t expected another person would be just as crazy as her for dealing with demons.

“But… yours is definitely impressive. What deal did you make?”

“I made a deal with a demon prince, a name for his power.”

Evelina narrowed her eyes. Demon prince? Even she couldn’t believe that… not until she noticed an extra ring on my fingers beside hers.

“You’re insane… You know that, right?”

“I do it all for you…” I replied.

“And… shameless,” Evelina added, pinching the bridge of her nose.

“But I guess that separates you from the rest of the insane power-hungry students here… you actually know what you’re doing.”

Evelina placed a hand on her hip, clearly in thought.

’He’s stronger than me… but even more than that, also weirdly loyal.’

Evelina thought, having a hard time comprehending my goal or motivations for serving her, the only reason she knew about was that I fell in love with her, but no way she believed that was the only reason.

But if that was the only thing she had to keep me in check.

’Guess I’ll use that to my advantage.’ She sighed, then she’ll absolutely use it to her advantage.

She had never gotten such a complicated pawn before.

“Follow me, we need to talk about something.”

Evelina walked inside the dormitory building, heading to the fifth floor to where her room was located.

Despite her furniture or belongings still not arriving, it was already good enough to be a room, the benefits of being an S-Rank also providing a pretty furnished room without needing any modification.

“Is there anything you need from me?”

“Yeah… I need to test your loyalty.”

She glared at me. I was definitely her most useful servant, but my loyalty was still confusing.

She needed to ensure she would be able to keep me on a proper leash and ensure I wasn’t going to backstab her once I got what I needed.
