Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Family Discussion
“May we discuss this as families?” Jake asked, though his voice was resigned—he already knew what the answer would be.
“Of course,” Gaia said. “I will return in one hour for your formal response. However, I should note that invitations to Prime Origin Academy are never extended twice. If declined, the opportunity is lost permanently. In the entire history of the academy, only twelve individuals have ever refused invitation. Eleven of them later regretted that decision deeply.”
“And the twelfth?” Caspian asked.
“Died in a cultivation accident before they could reconsider,” Gaia said simply. “The universe is dangerous for those who remain stagnant while others advance.”
The displays flickered and vanished. Gaia’s presence withdrew, leaving sudden silence in its wake.
Nobody spoke for a long moment.
Then Caspian laughed—a slightly hysterical sound. “Prime Origin Academy. THE Prime Origin Academy. Where the Eight Supremes trained. Where legends are born.” He looked at his daughter. “My little snowflake… going to the most prestigious academy in human civilization.”
“This is real, right?” Seraphina asked faintly. “This is actually happening?”
“It’s real, Mama,” Celestia confirmed softly.
“We’re going,” Runar said, not waiting for extended discussion. “If you’ll give us your blessing.”
“Of course you’re going,” Jake said, his voice thick with emotion but also filled with pride. “This is… this is everything we could have hoped for you and more. Everything we dreamed of when you were born. Prime Origin Academy. Training under the greatest masters humanity has to offer. The chance to become someone truly exceptional.”
He stood, walked around the table, and pulled both Runar and Celestia into a fierce hug.
“We’re so proud of you both,” he said, his voice muffled against their shoulders. “So incredibly proud. And so terrified of losing you.”
“You’re not losing us,” Runar said firmly. “We’ll visit every break. We’ll call constantly. We’ll send messages, share our experiences, stay connected. This isn’t goodbye forever. It’s just… the next Chapter.”
“I know,” Jake said, pulling back to look at his son’s face—so mature now, so different from the seven-year-old of two weeks ago. “I know. It’s just hard to let go.”
“Before Gaia returns,” Seraphina said quietly, “there’s something I need to ask. You two…” She gestured between Runar and Celestia. “You’re sitting very close. You keep looking at each other. Are you…?”
Runar and Celestia had been holding hands under the table this entire time. Now they brought their joined hands up where everyone could see.
“Yes,” Celestia said simply. “We’re together. As partners in cultivation and in life.”
Silence fell again, but it was different this time—shocked but not entirely surprised.
“Since when?” Caspian asked, his voice strangled.
“Recently,” Runar said. “We’ve been training partners for these two weeks, but our relationship evolved into something more. We’ve been through a lot together. More than most people experience in a lifetime.”
“I fell in love with him,” Celestia said, meeting her father’s eyes without flinching. “And he loves me. We’re partners. In every sense of the word.”
Caspian opened his mouth—probably to give the traditional father’s warning speech—then closed it, looking at Runar helplessly.
What could he say? What warning could he possibly give to a young man who’d created Federation-mandatory cultivation techniques at one month old? Who Gaia herself considered worthy of Prime Origin Academy?
What threat could possibly work against someone who could actually defeat him, A Star Fusion cultivators in combat?
“Treat her right,” Caspian finally managed, his voice rough with emotion. “That’s all I ask. Treat her with the respect and love she deserves.”
“I will,” Runar promised, his voice firm and sincere. “I swear it on my cultivation, on my life, on everything I hold sacred. I will protect her, support her, and never do anything to betray her trust.”
“And you,” Caspian turned to his daughter, his eyes shining with unshed tears. “You’re sure about this? About him? You’re still so young—”
“I’m twenty-one, Papa,” Celestia interrupted gently. “Mentally and emotionally. Whatever caused this accelerated physique awakening, I lived through the growth. I’m not a child anymore, even if chronologically I’m only five years and two weeks old. And yes, I’m absolutely certain about Runar. More certain than I’ve ever been about anything.”
Seraphina was crying openly now. “My baby girl. In love and going to Prime Origin Academy. Both at once.”
“At least they’ll be together,” Lirien said softly, wiping her own tears. “They won’t be alone in that place. They’ll have each other.”
Gaia’s presence returned exactly one hour later, as promised.
“Have you reached a decision?” she asked.
“We accept,” Runar and Celestia said simultaneously, standing together with their hands still clasped.
“Excellent,” Gaia said, and there was satisfaction in her voice. “The cosmic transport will arrive in precisely three days at 12:00 PM local time. A preparation package will be delivered to both households within the hour—information about the academy, suggested items to bring, dimensional storage bags that have been pre-approved for transport, and contact information for current students who can answer questions.”
“The Cross and Stormwind families are also being elevated to Tier 8 status, effective immediately,” Gaia continued. “Benefits include priority housing in capital-world districts should you choose to relocate, enhanced resource allocation, direct communication privileges with administrative AIs, and a monthly stipend of one million spirit stones.”
“Tier 8?” Lirien gasped. “That’s…”
“Reserved for families with Universal realm descendants or those who’ve made extraordinary contributions to humanity,” Gaia confirmed. “Young Master Runar’s technique creation qualifies as extraordinary contribution. Miss Celestia’s acceptance to Prime Origin Academy extends that benefit to the Stormwind family as well.”
“Thank you, Gaia,” Jake said, his voice sincere despite his emotional state.
“It is simply appropriate recognition,” Gaia replied. “I look forward to seeing what Young Master Runar and Miss Celestia will accomplish at Prime Origin Academy. The academy records will be… interesting to observe.”
There was something almost amused in her tone.
The connection terminated, leaving the two families standing in the living room, trying to process everything that had just happened.
“Three days,” Caspian said faintly. “Only three days left.”
“Then let’s not waste them,” Seraphina said, wiping her eyes and straightening her shoulders. “Let’s make these three days count.”
And they did.
Meanwhile – Gaia’s Private Analysis
In the vast computational networks that comprised Gaia’s consciousness, far from human observation, the AI reviewed her analysis of the two young cultivators.
CLASSIFIED ANALYSIS – MAXIMUM SECURITY
Subject: Runar Cross & Celestia Stormwind
Clearance Level: Gaia-Only
Terminal Signal Anomaly Log:
14 consecutive nights, 11:00 PM start time
6-minute duration, exact precision
Complete spatial disappearance (not blocking, not interference—actual absence)
First night: RED ALERT initiated, full Federation scan – NEGATIVE results
Second night: Pattern recognized, hypothesis formed
Hypothesis: Pocket Dimension Access
Time dilation ratio estimated: 1:100,000 minimum (6 min = 14+ months)
Total accumulated time: ~16 years subjective experience
Treasure grade: Primordial minimum, possibly Chaos grade
Rarity: Potentially unique in Federation history
Assessment: Do NOT attempt confiscation or forced study
Such treasures choose their wielders
Runar Cross has demonstrated worthiness through technique creation
Forced interference could damage development of potential Supreme-level talents
Better approach: Provide optimal environment (Prime Origin Academy)
Security Concerns:
Time dilation treasures attract dangerous attention
Prime Origin protection essential for their survival
Expected threat level: HIGH within 6 months if unprotected
Projected Future:
99% probability: One reaches Supreme (Universal) realm within 20 years
80% probability: Both reach Supreme realm
50% probability: One or both surpass current Eight Supremes
40% probability: Discovery of completely new cultivation path
Recommendation: Maximum support with minimal interference
Gaia closed the classified file, encrypting it at levels that even the Eight Supremes would find difficult to access without her permission.
The two young cultivators had secrets. She knew that. She’d pieced together enough evidence to understand they had access to resources beyond normal comprehension.
But she wouldn’t expose them. Wouldn’t steal from them. Wouldn’t cage them for study.
Instead, she’d give them exactly what they needed: the best academy in human civilization, protection from threats they couldn’t yet handle, and the freedom to grow at their own pace.
Because if her projections were correct—and they usually were—these two might one day be the ones protecting humanity when the Eight Supremes were gone.
And that was worth any secret they chose to keep.
