A stinging pain surged through my heart upon hearing how precisely she remembered the moment of my departure—a testament to how she had counted every minute we were apart. I turned to my side, pulled her closer by the waist with one hand, and used the other to gently pat her head until she slowly calmed down.

Now that she was completely sober, the shame and embarrassment of what we had done earlier washed over poor Ume. She stayed glued to me, not wanting me to see her in such a vulnerable state.

“Is my adorable Ume embarrassed?” I whispered into her fluffy ear, which twitched right in front of my face.

She whimpered, burying her face deeper into my wet chest, drenched by her tears, as she dug her nails into my back—a silent warning not to tease her.

“I have returned, Ume. And I will never leave you again,” I said, hoping to ease the fear of being left alone that weighed so heavily on her heart.

She finally lifted her face from my chest, her rose-like cheeks glistening with tears as she asked softly, “Then what about your family in that world? You can’t, and mustn’t abandon them for me.”

Even after longing for me, missing me so deeply, and crying like a child in my arms, Ume was still worrying about my family back on Earth, whom she had never even met.

Wasn’t she the best wife a man could ever wish for?

“Don’t worry, sweetie,” I said, my hand still gently caressing her head. “Didn’t I tell you I’m too greedy to let go of anyone I care about? I have my ways. I’ll tell you later.”

Curiosity flickered in her eyes, but she chose not to ask, knowing I would tell her when the time came.

“Rest now. You must be tired,” I said. “I have a lot to tell you tomorrow.”

“R-rest?” she mumbled, disappointment clearly written on her face.

“You don’t want to—”

Before I could finish, she pushed me onto my back and sat on my lower abdomen.

In the very next instant, she grabbed both my wrists and pinned them above my head.

“You said you’d do that if I didn’t return for a thousand years,” I countered, though I didn’t dislike this situation in the slightest.

“A thousand?” Ume muttered. “It felt like an eternity had passed since the last time I saw you.”

She bent over my body, her firm breasts pressing against my chest as her reddened lips hovered just inches away from mine. “Now I won’t let you go anywhere.”
