Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Here It Begins… The Villainous and the Weakest Hero
Diana snapped back to her senses.
In an instant she was right in front of me. Her hand grabbed my collar again. Same move as before. But this time her eyes were burning.
“What have you done?”
I kept my voice light. Playful even.
“What? I just saw she was about to hurt me. My instincts did the rest.” I shrugged as much as someone being held by the collar could shrug. “Wasn’t it just self defense?”
She hissed through her teeth. “I told her to do it.”
“Yeah.” I nodded casually. “I know.”
That threw her off for a second.
“Then why are you still standing here?” Her voice cracked slightly. “Why don’t you just give up on this stubbornness and leave? Why do you have to treat everything like some game? Why are you—”
She was breaking. Right in front of me.
I spoke before she could spiral further. “Diana. I don’t think of this as a game. Or some fun little adventure.”
My voice came out different. Quieter. More serious than I usually let myself sound.
“I know exactly how dangerous this is. Because it already broke someone. Someone I’m looking at right now.”
Her grip loosened just a fraction.
“Look. I’m not that simple to read. You’ve only seen one side of me. The side I enjoy showing the world. The unfiltered asshole who doesn’t take anything seriously.”
I met her eyes directly.
“But there’s another side. A more dangerous one. One that even I’m scared of sometimes. Because I don’t know where it’ll take me.”
She was listening now. Really listening.
“It’s what happens when my playful side merges with my ego. And right now? That ego has already decided the outcome. It’s already picturing the shocked faces of those four bastards who want you dead.”
I let that sink in.
“I didn’t knock out your professor for fun. Or to show off. I did it because I’d already made the decision. The moment I chose to help you, I chose to enter this tower. Enter that world. And leave it after making it mine.”
Her hand fell away from my collar completely.
She stepped back. Her face hardened again.
“You think too highly of yourself. You’ll die with that attitude.” Her voice was cold but shaky. “And I won’t let that happen. I’m going to knock you out and teleport you away from here. Away from my sight.”
She raised her hand to summon.
I dropped my axe.
CLANG.
It hit the white void floor. I walked toward her. Empty handed.
“You can knock me out. Send me away. But know this.”
I stopped right in front of her.
“When my eyes open again, I won’t wait. I’ll come right back here. Again and again. Until you give up.”
Her hand froze mid-motion.
“I know you can’t leave this place without entering that floor. And I know you can’t enter Floor 80 alone unless there are two people.”
I spread my arms.
“So in this cycle of helplessness, the only help you’re gonna see is me. Crawling back every single time after taking your beatings.”
Something in her finally cracked.
Her shoulders dropped. Her cold mask crumbled. For the first time since I’d met her, real emotion showed on her face. Tears were forming at the corners of her eyes.
“Why are you doing this to me?”
Her voice was small. Broken.
“I just want to save your life. You have a whole life ahead of you. Things to enjoy. People waiting for you back home.”
I cut in before she could continue. “And so do you.”
She flinched.
“I’ve seen it. Every single person in that mansion prays for you. Doesn’t matter how cold you are to them. How harsh. They’ve never hated you. Not once.”
I stepped closer.
“And it’s not because they’re scared. Not because it’s their duty. They love you, Diana. Actually love you.”
Her tears were falling now.
“You said people are waiting for me. Said you can’t let yourself put my life at risk and carry their grief if I don’t come back.”
I jabbed a finger at her chest.
“But it’s the same for you. Every person in that mansion is waiting. Waiting for the girl they used to know. The one who lit up their lives with a single smile after a long day of work.”
My voice softened.
“They’ve been waiting for her for years now. And you know what? Those stupid people still believe she can come back.”
I pulled my hand away.
“Poor fools don’t realize that girl won’t show up. Because she chose to hide. She keeps telling herself that Floor 80 swallowed her whole.”
I shook my head. “But the truth? She swallowed herself.”
Diana stood there silently. Tears running down her face. Not even trying to hide them anymore.
I scratched the back of my head.
“Look. I’m not gonna meddle in your personal stuff. That’s your business. But let me be clear about one thing.”
My voice turned hard.
“I won’t let myself get killed. I’m the greediest bastard you’ll ever meet. When it comes to my own survival, I’ll do whatever it takes.”
I paused. “Even if that means killing you. If there’s no other choice.”
Her eyes went wide with shock.
I rubbed my head awkwardly. “The chances of that are pretty low though. So don’t take it to heart.”
For a moment nothing happened.
Then her lips twitched. The faintest hint of a smile.
“You’re completely opposite to my brother.”
I shrugged. “Because I’m not him.”
I walked back to where I dropped my axe. But instead of picking it up, I just laid down on the floor. Staring up at the endless white nothing above us.
“Tell me when you change your mind. I’ll be here.”
Her voice came from somewhere above me.
“You’re too stubborn. I hate that.”
I grinned at the void. “Oh dear headmistress. I think you just stole my line. First time I’ve seen a teacher copying a student.”
Silence stretched between us.
Minutes passed. Maybe longer. Hard to tell in this place.
Then finally.
“Get up.”
I sat up and looked at her. She wasn’t crying anymore. Her face had settled into something calmer. Not the cold mask from before. Something different.
Acceptance maybe.
I grabbed my axe and followed her toward the massive gate. I didn’t like as she didn’t say more words apart from that.
When we reached it, she stopped and spoke. But not to me.
To the gate itself.
“Oh Tower of Unwritten Endings, heed my call. I, Diana Termina Winter, command you to take me to Floor 80.”
The gate answered.
Its voice was deep. Horrifying. Like something ancient and wrong had just woken up.
“THE TOWER HEARS YOUR CALL AND ACCEPTS YOUR REQUEST.”
The surface of the gate rippled.
“THE TOWER HAS CONNECTED TO THE WORLD OF HELDA. A WORLD WHOSE END LIES ON TWO SOULS.”
The voice continued.
“DECULEIN FAL ORENIS. ONE OF THE FOUR HEROES. AND ARIA HALLOWAY. THE VILLAINESS.”
“PLAYERS WILL SHARE THE MEMORIES OF THESE TWO. EVERY ACTION YOU TAKE DETERMINES THE FALL OR SALVATION OF THIS WORLD.”
A pause.
“WARNING. AVOID SYNCHRONIZATION WITH YOUR HOST. IF YOUR SOULS BIND COMPLETELY, THE HOST WILL TAKE CONTROL. THE UNAVOIDABLE CYCLE WILL COMPLETE. THE WORLD WILL BE DESTROYED.”
“FIND THE MYSTERY BEHIND THIS WORLD. PREVENT THE APOCALYPSE.”
The inside of the gate shifted. Colors swirled to life where there had been nothing before. Like someone had breathed existence into emptiness.
Diana was about to step through when I shouted.
“Wait!”
She turned.
“At least tell me something about what’s in there. You’ve been to this world before. That’s gotta be worth something, right?”
She shook her head.
“Like I said before. You’ll understand better once you enter. When you share your host’s memories, you’ll learn about the world. When the system guides you, you’ll figure out the apocalypse on your own.”
I clicked my tongue. “So I was right. Even a damn robot is more helpful than you.”
She glared at me. But there was no real heat in it.
“Your role and mine are different. We have different identities in this trial. Your host’s trauma is yours to bear. Mine is mine.”
Something flickered across her face when she mentioned trauma. Pain. Old and deep.
That was why she didn’t want to enter again. Not the danger. The memories.
Then she added one last thing.
“If you want advice, here’s the only one I can give. Don’t do something stupid at the start that gets you disowned by your family.”
She paused.
“I heard that my brother was disowned by the Duchess of the North for making that exact mistake.”
Without another word, she stepped into the gate and vanished.
I stared at the swirling colors.
Disowned by the duchess? Why the hell would I do that?
I had a sugar mommy waiting on the other side. Only an idiot would throw that away.
I stepped through.
No pain. No tearing sensation. Nothing like I expected.
One moment I was in the void. The next I was staring at an unfamiliar ceiling. Lying in an unfamiliar bed. Surrounded by unfamiliar luxury.
Then it started.
My brain felt like it was being squeezed. Memories that weren’t mine flooded in. Faces. Names. Events. Too much too fast. I couldn’t process any of it.
And then I felt something else.
Tickling.
Something soft brushing against my stomach. Against my… lower region.
I looked down.
A girl was between my legs. But not just any girl.
She had long rabbit ears sprouting from her head. Soft and fluffy. Those ears were brushing against my stomach while she worked.
She was completely naked. Curves that didn’t belong in reality. And she was a demihuman. A rabbitkin.
Her pink tongue was currently running along the base of my cock.
