Chapter 93: Chapter 93: Shit Just Got More Twisted
[Primary Objective: Save the world from calamity]
[Time Remaining: 3 Years]
[Current Goal: Find the 4th Hero and make them Kill the Villainess]
[Time Remaining: 2 Weeks]
[Note: This is the only viable path for Player Eren. No other outcome can lead to both the prevention of apocalypse and survival of both players who entered this floor.]
What the fuck is this?
Isn’t it way too easy for a high floor tower? Just find that fourth motherfucker, make her kill Diana, and we’re done. Diana won’t even resist knowing it clears the floor and frees us both.
Simple. Clean. Done.
But two things made absolutely no sense.
First, how does killing Diana prevent the apocalypse? Why does it specifically need to be the fourth hero doing the killing?
I could walk up to Diana right now with her full cooperation and slit her throat myself. Congratulations, villainess eliminated, world saved by this Hero, and now I own every walking hole in this—
No. That’s too easy.
The tower or whoever designed this trial wouldn’t be that stupid. There had to be a hidden meaning behind this condition.
And second, where the fuck was this fourth hero? Or rather, who the fuck was this fourth hero? Would I even be able to find that rat with only two weeks to spare?
My head was spinning.
And of course, it wasn’t enough. Another notification appeared.
[Quest for Player Diana]
[Choose either path for survival:]
[Path 1: Get killed by the 4th strongest hero within 2 weeks. Failure will result in both players’ deaths and the world’s destruction.]
[Path 2: Kill any three heroes before 2 weeks expire. Note: This path will only eject the host of Aria Halloway from the quest, leaving behind the other player and the world to its inevitable end.]
More brain-fucking information. Wonderful.
The first path was straightforward enough. Same as mine. Fourth hero kills her, everyone goes home happy.
But that second option?
The tower gave her an escape route. If she fails the main quest, she just needs to kill three heroes and save her own ass. She gets ejected safely while I get left behind with a dying world.
Fucking gender favoritism.
But jokes aside, I was now certain of one thing.
This floor was testing far more than I initially thought. This would be one hell of a mystery. One hell of trouble. I could bet my life on it.
Otherwise, it made no sense for Diana to kill her own brother.
Or rather… he would have sacrificed himself for her escape.
Dylan probably figured out the same thing I just did. When the quest got too complicated, when finding the fourth hero seemed impossible, he gave Diana the easy way out.
Three hero kills. Ejection secured. And he was one of those three.
A grin spread across my face.
This game was getting interesting. Looked like I needed to put in more effort. Not just through strength, but with my brain as well.
Then another notification appeared.
[Lucifer has taken a liking to the player.]
Now this world was giving me even more headache.
Lucifer. If I wasn’t mistaken, that would be the fallen angel. Lucifer Morningstar. A powerful entity who could rival even the gods themselves. But as the description suggested, she was once an angel who got cast down for defying the heavens.
[A/N: Yup Lucifer is a Women]
If this was the same entity from legends, then the mystery behind these towers just got a lot more complex.
Lucifer, huh?
Fine then. Let me give you a show worth watching.
My next destination was clear. The Imperial Academy.
—x—X—x—
Next day.
I was walking through the academy halls. Deculein’s memories guided my feet through the corridors like this wasn’t my first time here. Because technically, it wasn’t. His body had walked these paths countless times.
But my mind was still processing the fantasy of actually being inside an academy.
And this place was no ordinary school. It was practically a palace.
The architecture. The interior. The golden trimmings on every corner. Everything about this building screamed one message to anyone who didn’t belong.
Get the fuck out, you filthy peasant.
If commoners were even allowed here, they’d be bullied to death within a week. Guaranteed.
When I reached the main hall, I found a massive crowd gathered. Students packed together, spectating something in the center.
I had arrived late. Afternoon already. Probably lunch time based on the gathered numbers.
It wasn’t my lazy ass that made me late. It was my time management skills that completely failed me this morning.
But somehow, I’d arrived at the perfect moment.
There was definitely a fight going on. Or bullying. The commotion was too loud, the whispers too excited for anything else.
My heart started beating faster. Like I’d just spotted a wet juicy pussy waiting to be claimed.
I pushed through some noble-looking pricks and finally saw what everyone was watching.
Two women stood at the center.
And I recognized both of them instantly.
One was the hero. The other was the villainess.
One was my Diana. The other was my ex-fiancée Charlotte Lombardi.
Seeing the body that Diana now possessed made my heart race even harder. I didn’t know why exactly. Maybe it was that goddamn figure. Curves that could start wars. Hips that could end dynasties. And that royal attire made everything worse.
Black hair cascading down her back. Red eyes burning with cold fury. A crimson dress that hugged every inch of her like it was painted on.
She was the reason men went mad.
Or maybe something else was making me feel this way. Some connection I couldn’t explain.
But I pushed those thoughts aside and analyzed the scene unfolding before me.
Diana. Or rather, Aria Halloway in this world.
She removed one of her gloves with deliberate slowness. Then threw it at Charlotte’s feet.
“I can’t take it anymore.” Her voice was ice. “Your face stinks. Your presence irritates me. So accept this challenge. Accept the wager.”
I was cheering internally.
Yes. Show that bitch her place. Diana was definitely plotting something for the quest. This had to be part of her plan.
Charlotte looked like a scared cat. Hesitant. Unwilling to pick up that glove. She knew she’d lose against Aria in a fair fight.
But then another figure stepped forward.
More regal than the rest. More authoritative than anyone else in this hall. She carried herself like she owned not just this academy, but the entire empire it belonged to.
The Imperial Princess. Angelica Zel Holfort.
She walked to the center, scanned the glove on the ground, and picked it up herself.
“If you truly desire this confrontation,” she said coolly, “then I have no choice but to interfere. Princess Charlotte is my friend. And it is my duty to involve myself in matters concerning the hero’s party.”
She held the glove up.
“So how about this? If you wish to fight her, then add me to your list as well. Make it a double duel.”
Aria’s eyes narrowed. She was hissing under her breath.
“Fine.” Her voice dripped venom. “I accept. I can handle both of you prophecy heroes on my own.”
Angelica’s expression remained cold. Unmoved.
“I’m afraid I cannot allow that. It would be unfair. It would tarnish our honor as heroes and high nobles.”
She paused.
“However, we will not turn down your challenge. You simply need to find a partner for yourself.”
Aria’s jaw tightened. Her red eyes scanned the crowd desperately. Searching for anyone willing to stand beside the villainess.
But every student she looked at immediately averted their gaze. Looked at the floor. Pretended they didn’t exist.
No one wanted to side with Aria Halloway.
A student beside me whispered to his friend.
“And here I thought things would get interesting. But I guess there won’t be any entertainment today. No one’s stupid enough to join that woman.”
Watching this scene, I made my decision.
I stepped forward.
Walking toward the center stage like a final boss making his entrance. Every single eye in that hall turned to me. Whispers erupted. Confusion spread.
The weakest hero. The disowned failure. Walking to stand beside the villainess.
Internally, I told myself I was just helping Diana with whatever she was plotting.
But honestly? This scene was perfect. A grand entrance to academy life. A chance to put a scheming bitch in her place. Two birds, one stone.
I stopped beside Aria and faced Angelica directly.
“I volunteer to join the side of Aria Halloway in this challenge.”
I glanced at the woman beside me. “That is, if she’ll have me.”
Aria turned to me. And her eyes weren’t grateful.
They were furious. “What do you want from me?” She stepped closer, voice low and dangerous. “Tell me your motive. Now.”
I raised my hands in mock surrender. “Relax, Diana. I know you’re probably angry at me for leaving you alone for the past four days, but—”
She cut me off. Her fury somehow doubled.
“What are you talking about?” Her red eyes bore into mine with genuine confusion mixed with rage.
“And who the hell is Diana?”
