Chapter 168: Everyone, listen to me

Dani scrambled out of the cave as if the very air inside was trying to swallow him whole. His heart was a frantic drum against his ribs, but he didn’t stop running. He couldn’t.

The fear of the words Fenric said lingered in his heart and shoulders too heavily.

It wasn’t until he reached the center of the construction site, where Gram was overseeing the work, that he stopped, panting frantically with his heart beating in his ears.

He wanted to make sure there were no flaws, so as not to incur the wrath of the predators.

“Chief! Chief!” Dani tumbled over his own feet, landing in a heap of dust.

Gram hurried over, his brow furrowed with concern.

“Dani? What is it? Where are the Saviors? Did something happen?”

“Father, they… they told me to leave!” Dani wheezed, his ears twitching sporadically. He wondered if his father would be mad at him for not finishing what he asked him to do. “And they said… they said no one can go near the Crystal Grotto. Lord Fenric said—If anyone even lurks near there, they will die! He looked so scary, Father. Like he was going to turn into a real monster!”

The surrounding rabbits stopped their work, whispering in hushed, terrified tones. Gram’s face went pale, but he gripped Dani’s shoulders to steady him.

“Calm down, boy. Tell me exactly what you saw. Why would they say such a thing? Were they angry again?”

“No… not angry. Just… strange,” Dani said, trying to find the words. “Ms. Arinya looked sick. She was so hot, and her face was all red. And then Lord Damar said… he said she was ’in heat.’ What does that mean, Chief? Is it a disease?”

Gram’s eyes went wide. He stood frozen for a long moment, his mouth slightly agape.

“In heat?” he whispered to himself. “Now?” Dani nodded. “That’s bad.”

He knew enough of the world to know what that meant for predators. It wasn’t a disease; it was a biological storm. A female tiger in her estrus, trapped in a cave with another tiger and a serpent—it was a situation of pure, unadulterated power and pheromones.

But then, a look of relief washed over his aged face. He realized that if they were occupied in the grotto, they wouldn’t be in the village. They wouldn’t be judging the construction, sitting on their tribespeople, or getting into jealous fits. They would be hidden away for days.

However, that relief was quickly tempered by the warning.

He realized he needed to see things straight so there would be no victims.

“Everyone, listen to me!” Gram shouted, his old voice cracking with authority. “And make sure to spread the word. The Crystal Grotto is now a forbidden zone! Do not go there to fetch water. Do not go there to pick berries. Do not even look in that direction!”

He turned back to Dani, his expression grim.

“You were right to be scared and heed their words, boy. It wasn’t a bluff. Predators are at their most volatile and territorial during their mating season. Their instincts will be dialed to a razor’s edge. If a rabbit so much as snaps a twig near that cave, they won’t see a weak, defenseless creature; they’ll see an intruder.”

“Until when?” one of the villagers asked, trembling.

“Until they come out,” Gram said, looking toward the distant hill where the grotto sat.

“And may the Great Beast god help us all if we disturb them before then.”

Gram made sure that there were no mistakes. One silly mistake of one tribesman could get the entire village killed so he had a few guards stationed in the patches leading to the grotto and stop any oblivious dimwits from going that way.

It was a tedious job but it was best to be safe and sorry.

While Arinya and her mates were busy doing their mating business, the village returned to its peaceful state.

The tension had completely died down, the construction was finished and for a moment, everyone forgot that predators were living in one of their historical sites, going at each other like horny rabbits.

Soon, a few days passed.

The three who had their bodies entangled for days, giving no rest to each other and not able to get enough of the other were finally on their last round.

’I can never get enough of her.’ he thought and moved his head closer.

He planted his lips on her nape and sucked on her sweat while savoring the taste of her body in his mouth.

It was so much bliss that he did not know what to do with this feeling now that it was over.

He wished to be stuck in that time for a while longer.

’How many days has it been?’ Arinya wondered, her head fuzzy and reality seeming unreal to her. ’How many times have we even done it?’

She had no answer to either of the questions, but it was clear that it had been a few days, and the number of times they did it was uncountable.

The smell of semen and sweat that filled such a beautiful place was evidence enough.

’I feel so sticky. I think… This is the end.’ she thought and closed her eyes. ’Damn, it was fun.’

The only thing they had ingested in that span of five days during Arinya’s heat was the water in the crystal grotto.

If not for that water, one of them would’ve had to go out and get some for Arinya when she asked while devouring their dicks, drinking their semen, and craving more and more each passing second.

Arinya opened her eyes and looked at Fenric who was sitting in front of her with his legs crossed in a lotus position, and a sweet smile spread on his lips.

“You did great, Arinya.” He said. “Now, you can sleep.” He reached for her face and brushed the wet strand of hair sticking to her face away.

Arinya barely nodded and then a smile tugged at the corner of her lips.

’Yeah, truly fun. The only downside is that I’m very exhausted.’ she thought. ’But I’m sure once I wake up, it’ll all be fine.’
