Chapter 233: A white whale
Chapter 233: A white whale
After a few minutes she took a break the way she always did, sitting back slightly on her heels. Her hand replaced her mouth, fingers wrapping firm and slick around my shaft, continuing the steady rhythm while she caught her breath.
Lila rarely did anything without commentary.
“My week has already been absolute hell and it’s only Monday,” she said, voice casual, almost conversational, even as her fist twisted gently on the upstroke.
“Boss is still riding me about last week’s deliverables like I personally murdered his quarterly targets. The wife situation is getting worse, he actually called her from the office this time, right in the middle of the open floor plan. Mortifying. And that piece I had to rewrite three times? Still not right. I swear the client keeps moving the goalposts just to watch me run.”
I listened with maybe fifteen percent of my attention. The rest was occupied by the slick glide of her fist, the way her thumb kept brushing over the sensitive head on every pass, and by performing just enough interest to keep her talking. Talking kept her occupied. Occupied was the point. “Mm,” I offered, low and noncommittal. It was usually sufficient.
She shifted her weight, the tone of her voice changing as something she’d clearly been saving rose to the surface. “But the most frustrating of them all is that I’ve been trying to get my hands on something,” she said between smooth strokes, the phrasing deliberate, that smile still playing at her glistening lips.
“Something,” I echoed, mostly to keep the rhythm.
“Someone.” The correction came with a wider, sharper smile. “A white whale. I’ve been trying for months and it keeps not working. Which is honestly making me want it more. You know how I get.”
My hand moved to her face again, a slow caress along her cheekbone that looked invested. “What is it.”
The look she gave me was openly pleased that I’d asked. “A rich boy. Met him at a club a while ago. I didn’t even know who he was at first, had to do my research after like some kind of amateur detective.”
My attention sharpened, just slightly. The hand still resting in her hair stayed perfectly still. “Old money?”
“The oldest in this city. The kind where the money has its own money. Generational. Untouchable.”
“The Wolfe family.”
It wasn’t a question. Only one family in this city fit that description in that specific, almost mythic way.
Lila’s smile turned deeply satisfied, like I’d passed a test. “Take a wild guess which one.”
I already knew. I’d known from the moment she said club and refused me and months. The pieces had been arranging themselves all evening. “Cassian.”
“Give the man a prize.” She sat back a little farther, fully slipping into storytelling mode now, her hand never stopping its lazy, slick rhythm. “I met him at this expensive club months ago. He looked so handsome I got horny instantly. He let me sit on his lap. We drank expensive whiskey. I thought—”
A small pause flickered across her face, something raw and quickly covered.
“I thought he was into me. Turns out… he’s gay.” She said it flatly, almost clinically. “I had no idea. None. He just sat there looking like that, gorgeous, untouchable, and let me think whatever I wanted. And then told me completely without embarrassment. Like it was nothing. Like he was commenting on the weather.”
I didn’t move. My gaze drifted to the ceiling again, then back down to her face.
The information settled inside me with neat, surgical precision, arranging itself alongside everything else I’d been collecting over the past days.
Cassian.
Gay.
Confirmed by someone with absolutely no reason to lie about it. The dinner. The look across the table.
I thought of Noah’s face when Cassian arrived at the curb.
The way the boy’s entire world seemed to tilt on its axis just because a black car had slowed down.
And I thought of Cassian’s voice when he spoke to the security team… the dark, vibrating promise of what he would do to their limbs if they tried to hurt the boy.
The picture was clearer now. Much clearer.
Lila watched me closely, waiting for some reaction, surprise, jealousy, amusement, anything.
I gave her nothing and she continued sucking me off.
I kept my face as smooth as the marble in my foyer, but internally, the itch was gone. It had been replaced by the hum of a machine that had finally found the missing variable.
There it is, I thought.
The leverage wasn’t in the project.
The leverage wasn’t in the hospital board or the Wolfe family legacy. The leverage was the boy. The fragile, transparent, middle-class assistant who Cassian Wolfe was keeping like a secret.
Noah Bennett was the bridge.
And I was the only person who knew exactly how to cross it.
A sudden, electric burst of energy surged through me, hot and decisive. While she was deep throating me again, throat working, eyes watering slightly at the corners, I stopped her.
“Enough.”
My voice came out rougher than intended. I hauled her up off the floor in one smooth motion, guiding her onto the sofa.
In seconds I was on top of her, knees pushing her thighs apart. When I looked down, I could see how wet she already was, her pussy glistening under the low lamplight, inner thighs shiny with arousal.
Lila smirked up at me, licking her swollen lips slowly. “Impatient tonight,” she teased, voice breathy. “What’s gotten into you? You’re usually more… methodical.”
I thought, very briefly, about telling her, about the encounter with Cassian Wolfe, about the distinct possibility that he might be fucking her ex. I decided against it. Some information was more useful when kept private.
Instead I smirked, hooking my fingers into the waistband of her panties and sliding them down her legs, letting the damp fabric drop to the floor. Lila giggled, low and delighted, one hand drifting between her own legs.
She played with herself openly while she looked up at me, fingers circling her clit, hips rolling slightly, excited and expectant, eyes bright with anticipation.
I lined myself up and pushed inside her in one slow, deliberate thrust. Her walls were hot, slick, and tight around me.
She gasped sharply, the sound melting into a long, throaty moan as her warmth enveloped me completely. Her arms came up, nails digging into my back as she pulled me closer, hips lifting greedily to take every inch.
I reached down and kissed her, my fingers threading through her hair once more as I adjusted my pace.
“Tell me more about this club, Lila. Tell me exactly what he said.”
