Chapter 201: Divine Blood
Ishiki stared at the platinum window hovering before him, its luminescent text casting faint light across his face in the purple glow of Sorrow’s Edge.
=====================
Relic – Divine Blood
Type – Artifact
Rank – Mythical
Adaptability – I
Description – [There once was a mighty warrior born beneath heaven’s gaze. His father was a God. His mother was a mortal as beautiful as spring’s first bloom, dying as all mortal things must die.
The boy grew in power and purpose. He conquered seven kingdoms without tasting defeat. He brought prosperity to lands that had forgotten mercy.
They called him A Hero, A Savior.
Tough times ask for tough decisions. At the most crucial point in his life… the savior stood for the mortals.
For his father had been corrupted by the world tree… Bringing upon the unfortunate event of The Great Corruption.
Even when his sibling grew closer to the all devouring corruption… he refused to kneel.
He raised his blade against the corruption. Against his father and the Divine Will.
For this crime… he was sealed beneath the earth in chains that would never break.
His name was torn from history. His deeds were erased from every chronicle. His face forbidden to be remembered.
The warrior who conquered seven kingdoms died alone in darkness in the presence of the Memory Reaper, his name forgotten by the very mortals he’d fought to protect.]
Abilities – Incarnate Essence
Incarnate Essence – [The Divine Blood is indestructible, answering only to the bearer’s will. It can take any shape the mind conceives—weapon or shield, thread or chain, armor or prison. The blood maintains independence from the physical body. It can be separated, controlled remotely, manifested at a distance and can contain spiritual objects within itself. It can store spirituality separate from the bearer’s soul, creating a reservoir of power that exists outside the body’s limitations.]
=========================
Ishiki read the description three times… and each time he did. He understood more of it.
But there were things that contradicted with his knowledge.
’What is this World Tree now? And ’It’ was the reason that brought the great Corruption? And the demigod stood against the corruption on his own and was punished for it? ’
From what Ishiki had learned so far… the Angel was glorified as the the one who took down the corrupted god. But according to this description even the Angel was drawn towards the shadow of corruption.
This world’s history might even be much more complicated and messed up than Ishiki had thought earlier.
Ishiki dismissed the window and focused on the practical use of this new relic.
’hmm… its a liquid that can do anything.’ As he thought that, Ishiki willed upon the relic to show itself while raising his hand… and suddenly a weird black liquid seeped out from the tip of his finger.
The black viscous liquid continued to flow out and fell to the damp ground, without mixing in with the water, until Ishiki wanted to stop it… then he thought of a car.
As if it was connected to his mind the liquid suddenly moved and slowly took form of an actual car… but it didn’t have any features.
Following that, Ishiki opened his palm and thought of a large spear. The car turned back into the jelly and flowed towards his hand, taking shape of a spear.
Slowly and deliberately, Ishiki remembered how his first Vestige [Black Tether] looked and felt like. Guided by his thoughts the black liquid turned into an exact copy of the obsidian spear that Ishiki had once used.
Exhaling sharply… Ishiki examined the spear and found out that it was even more sturdier than the actual spear.
’Its Indestructible after all. ’
Feeling very satisfied with the results he dismissed the relic. But unlike normal vestiges… the black liquid didn’t disintegrate into motes of light. But rather, it seeped back into his skin… mixing with his blood.
It felt creepy to be honest… but it also gave him a sense of safety. ’It will not take time to get summoned like other vestiges. Its a great last minute defense system! ’
Having seen it, Ishiki let out a foul breath and focused on what he could currently do. His main goal right now was to find the guy behind Nina’s death and take her revenge.
But first he let his mind drift to the story of the Demigod. The story was tragic in its simplicity. A being born of mixed blood, powerful enough to conquer kingdoms, compassionate enough to weep for mortals.
A being who committed the ultimate sin, but not out of malice but passion and love.
And for that love, he was erased.
’Sigh… ’
He could not do much for the unfortunate thing… other than being the only one who remembers him.
It was sadly ironic that it almost made him laugh. He was cursed to never allow his real self to be discovered, cursed to be forgotten and he would remember someone forgotten by all.
Thinking about that, his attention shifted to the walls of this chamber. The Demigod had been here for so many years and he has been continuously scribbling on the walls.
He wondered if there were some important things in his messages. Ishiki raised the Jian and approached the wall.
After looking at them for some time, he realized that he could not read the texts and the drawings were not making much sense to him.
But he had a solution to it actually. Even thinking about it made him feel pain in his newfound heart.
Although it was repulsive, it was the reality now.
Without thinking much… Ishiki activated his Exclusive skill and dived into his soul space.
—
The Crimson moon hung in the void, all alone and covered by the veil of dark clouds that continued to shed tears for the unfortunate ones.
Filch, Yuki, Jeanne and Santiago stood in front of a make shift grave. It was Nina’s grave.
None of them spoke… and the rain drops kept coming down without a stop.
Filch had to bring Nina’s corpse to the Secondary Ring… because none of them would be allowed to step inside.
BOOOM!!
The silence was suddenly shattered like glass by the deafening fall of the gates.
Secondary Ring had been breached.
