Chapter 26: United Guild Meeting[1]

The sun had started to rise and with it the world filled with darkness was now brimming with light. Xior trailed behind the Wolf Tribe members slowly. He turned his head back and surveyed his surroundings if any Tiger Tribe members were trailing them.

The Wolf Tribe members talked to each other in a low voice, almost a whisper most wouldn’t be able to hear, a small smile was plastered on their face as they continued to talk.

Although, they were wounded they smiled without a care in the world. They hadn’t given up on their tribe and chief and soon hope arrived in the form of Xior.

They had thought that they might die without reuniting with their families. Some longed for their parents, some their lover and some their children.

In the distance three figures stood with their weapons in hand. Becca, Kayla and Alice stood there, weapons in hand and Tiger Tribe members down on the ground dead.

Seeing Xior safe and sound made them exhale heavily, they left the half dead Tiger Tribe spies and walked towards him.

Seeing Kayla the Wolf Tribe members shouted her name loudly, they were happy she was alive since they heard from the Tigers she had been attacked by the Dragon Tribe members.

They slowed down as Kayla put her hands on Xior’s shoulder and shook him, “took your sweet time didn’t ya, almost made us barge in the Tiger’s outpost.” She said with a playful smile on her face.

Becca stopped a bit further away, she looked Kayla who was as tall as Xior shaking him around like he was a kid and Alice on the side telling her to stop.

She lowered her head and failed to notice Xior looking at her instead of them, she turned and before she could move a voice called out to her.

A voice which she liked, someone who has been through thick and thin with her, it was Xior. “Becca wait, where are you going?”

Becca stopped and turned back with a smile and replied, “no where.”

Xior saw through her and walked towards her, he lowered his head and brought his face closer to hers, “don’t keep things bottled inside of you, Becca.” He said.

His voice was calm and soothing but his face, especially his eyes made it hard. Hard for people to trust, not that Becca didn’t trust him.

He told her not to bottle up things while he himself did that. She wanted to know what he had gone through, how did he get each of the scars on his body and so much more.

She not only wanted to listen, she wanted to be heard as well. To tell him how much she missed him, to tell him about her mission, to have someone whom she could talk freely to.

But the time apart had changed both of them, their hearts remained unchanged it was just they grew apart in those five years.

Becca closed off herself from most people and worked hard to become a successful hunter so the kids at the shelter can live a normal life and have normal professions.

Kayla took the Wolf Tribe members back to her tribe while Alice went back to hers. Becca and Xior went back to Dragon Guild and rested.

Xior quickly got in bed and fell asleep, it was evening now. Becca came to wake him up with his favorite snack in hand, a beef smash burger from a local joint in Sector H.

The smell of the burger entered his nose and he jolted awake. In front of him he saw Becca in casual clothes, a white t-shirt with a loose red buttoned up shirt and blue jeans.

“I brought you something, your favorite.” She said as she sat near him.

Xior looked at the burger and then at Becca, involuntarily a smile formed on his lips as he asked, “from Sector H?”

“Yes, from the joint on the right of the park we used to play in.” She said as he extended the burger towards him.

He took a few minutes and devoured it fully, his face was full of satisfaction.

“Becca, thank you for this. I had forgotten how they tasted like.

I’m thinking of buying a house in New Federation and moving the kids and the miss there.”

Becca knew he would say that, but not when. She smiled and nodded in approval. Time went by and it was time for the United Guild Meeting.

Xior and Becca quickly changed into new suits, both wore black suits and made their way towards the Dragon Guild’s conference room.

At the entrance stood dozens of hunters, each of these were High A-Rank to SS-Rank. Xior and Becca was taken inside by Rain as the final preparations ended.

The Guild representatives from the other seven guilds entered the room. In front were two hunters from the Griffin Guild.

Behind them were two members from each, Phoenix Guild, Basilisk Guild, Cerberus Guild, Leviathan Guild, Chimera Guild and lastly Hydra Guild.

Their chairs were already allocated so they all sat down. Xior and Becca sat at the place meant for Dragon Guild representatives

In front of a big screen on one of the ends stood Rain, he wore a white suit with a grey buttoned up shirt. His normal glasses and had his sword strapped on his back.

Not all of the representatives had good relations with Rain and the others attending the conference.

This was Rain’s turf and anyone who acted like a entitled brat despite everyone being an adult he would see it through that he or she gets punished severely.

He clicked on a buttoned and the screen turned on, it showed a connected map of places, pins on people and basic maps of the whole area.

Rain had been continuously running scenarios in his mind, and coming up with all this alone. He smiled and bowed slightly in front of the hunters not out of fear but their willingness to attend the conference in times of need.

He adjusted his glasses as the light reflected on it and said with a sarcastic tone, “let’s start the meeting.”
