Chapter 89: Audience With The King[1](Bonus)

aasaAs the sun came out the darkness faded away into nothingness, the whole world was illuminated and humans woke up from their slumber as birds chirped on the windows.

Xior stretches his body and gets out of his bed, he wore a simple white nightgown given to him by the Palace staff.

The ring which contained Acheron was still on his finger, he sensed that she was awake and brought her out. She too wore the same nightgown as him.

“Good morning, how did you sleep?” He asked.

“Sleep? Good more or less…first time I slept peacefully in a couple of hundred years.” She replied and went to the bath.

She quickly took a bath and came out to get ready, the King was away to find Meeka so until he returned the defacto ruler, Meeka’s younger brother Prince Aemond thought to show them the hospitality of the Voltaris Empire.

He hosted a feast in celebration of her return and to thank her saviors. Xior went ahead to take a bath while Acheron got ready.

She wore a white dress with a small cleavage, golden embroided belt was attached to it and white gloves to go with the dress.

Xior walked out of the bath with only a towel around him, just where Acheron stood a black suit hung on the side.

He wore a white shirt on top of which he wore a black coat, black pants, and a cape which had fur on its collor.

“Not going to tie your hair?” Acheron asked as she gazed him top to bottom.

He was good looking, even with his weird eyes as most would say. The suit hugged his massive frame and he looked as if he was a Duke of the kingdom.

“Do I have to? I don’t normally do that and I don’t know how to do it either.” Xior replied.

Acheron chuckled at his response, “don’t worry, I’ll do it. Come sit on the bed.”

Xior did as she asked and she took a band and wrapped it around his hair and made a warrior’s bun.

With one last check both of them exited the room and not far away Becca, Alice and Beatrice stood as they talked among themselves.

Alice wore a blue dress somewhat similar to Acheron’s, same for Beatrice. While Becca’s dress matched Xior’s perfectly.

It was red just like her hair and it enhanced all her perfect features more. She looked stunning as if she was not a human.

Another day passed, they had been on horseback for two days now. It was somewhat tiring but for the most part their journey was one without any issues so far.

Xior prayed that it stayed that way because this was the most days they went without things going wrong.

The arrival in the middle of the sea, the mermen, the Leviathan, the trial, the island, the vampires and finally Acheron. All of these things happened back to back, it didn’t give them enough time to rest.

“There’s a village up ahead my dears.” Alice said as she saw a faint light which flickered in the distance.

Upon getting near it, there was a torchlight at the entrance of the village. An old man greeted them, he was tall but his back was hunched, half of his face was covered by his long white hair and his big beard.

“Welcome travellers from afar, welcome to this humble village.” He greeted them peacefully as if he had done this a lot.

But Xior and Acheron had noticed that this was an act of being a frail old man. He was powerful, they didn’t know how much but it was enough to get them worried.

In the middle of the village, the villagers sat around a bonfire as they shared bread and wine amongst themselves.

Seeing the man approach them with a group of five people they suddenly got up and made way for them.

“You can sit with us, you will be provided with lodgings as well.” The old man smiled and said.

The group nodded and did so, the same bread and wine the others shared, it was given to them as well.

The villagers didn’t discriminate against anyone and that was the reason for the harmony for them. After eating till full they went to the inn where rooms for them were prepared and fell asleep.

Becca woke up earlier than anyone else, she walked around to check on everyone. Xior, Alice, Meeka and Beatrice were all asleep, dreaming about the things they wanted to do.

She went outside, the sun had barely risen but then she saw something move in the far distance underneath the horizon.

She squinted her eyes and then she saw what it actually was, it was a pack of direwolves, about a thousand in number led by two generals and one Alpha wolf and it was coming towards the village.

She quickly woke everyone up and they ran towards the gate, the pack was still at a considerable distance so the six people stood there and analysed what they should do.

“If we leave today…they all will die but if we fight…I don’t know if we will win or not against this large of a pack.” Meeka said.

Xior smirked slightly and faced Meeka who was on his right, “then we should make it worth dying for.”

The villagers were woken up from their slumber and hurried inside the granary, it was the sturdiest building inside the village.

Alice tightened her grip on her spear as Becca unsheathed her sword, Xior adjusted the gauntlet and the remaining three just took a stance to fight.

The direwolf pack growled, foam dropped down from their mouths, their eyes glowed red and their black fur bristled.

Alice doesn’t wait for them to get near her, she swung her spear and an arc of wind jumped from it and cut through dozens of the direwolves with each.

Their blood splattered all over but they still moved despite seeing a couple dozen of them being butchered by Alice.

Acheron raises her hand and a blood spike erupts out of the ground and impales the wolves who were unfortunate.

Another hundred or so wolves were killed instantly in one attack, Xior looked at her astonished by her prowess.

He didn’t see her fight back inside the coffin but now he did and he was glad he made a pact with her.

Becca and Xior ran towards the direwolves and split up, Xior went left and with each swing of his arm a dozen direwolves were slaughtered, some clawed his back but he kept going.

Becca on the other hand went to the right, she carved through a dozen like they were not a big threat.

Beatrice formed an armor with her tentacles and shot fire bullets in the middle and killed another dozen easily.

Meeka on the back used her Holy power to buff everyone up, as someone who was going to become the queen and the saintess she had to do this.

Alice joined Becca and Xior as they fought against the direwolves. The trio was unstoppable, the direwolves saw one of the three things before they died.

Either a gauntlet, a sword or a spear. Xior blocked four direwolves from ripping apart Alice’s back.

The one he grabbed in his free hand writhed hard to free itself but Xior tightened his grip, the wolf whimpered and he broke its neck and killed it.

The others were dead as he had clawed them with his gauntlet. Their numbers thinned but then suddenly the horde changed its course.

The wolves started to avoid the group, Alice tried creating a blood cage but she couldn’t utilise her powers to their full extent because of her contractor being not strong enough to handle them.

They were now heading towards the village from the side, Becca saw that and ran towards defending the village.

Xior stood still, he wanted to go as well but if he did then who would fight the remaining ones and three leaders, the two generals and the alpha wolf.

With Becca gone towards the wolves which left the horde, it was somewhat difficult to keep them at bay.

Some of them got past the group even though they attacked them continuously, Alice ran straight and stabbed three of them with her spear and swung it, which threw their bodies on the other wolves.

They were almost done, Xior took out his sword and swung it wide, an arc of wind jumped from it and cut through the trees and the direwolves alike.

Only a dozen direwolves remained, they stopped their advance, behind them the two generals approached the group.

They were taller than the direwolves, their eyes.
