Chapter 23 – A White Chest
Kai then shot forward, dashing into the axe trio before they built momentum. An outside step to the left let the center axe whistle past his ribs as his sword blurred in a backhand slice that carved the wielder’s leg.
Even before it toppled, Kai twisted and caught the right-side axe on Azure Sword’s flat and slammed his elbow into that goblin’s throat, cracking the neck’s bone like chalk.
A heartbeat later the leftmost axe came around in a desperate horizontal sweep. Kai jumped in response, his knees tight to his chest, letting the blade skim under him, and kicked downward. The stomp shattered the goblin’s collarbone, and a quick thrust through its heart sealed the kill.
Spear and shield attacked from the front. Rather than parrying the attack, Kai sidestepped, grabbed the wooden haft, and yanked the spearman ahead of its shield mate.
The goblin stumbled right into a saber strike intended for Kai. Steel punched straight through goblin hide, and its comrade impaled it.
Kai wrenched the spear free, reversed his grip, and threw it javelin-style. The shaft whooshed across ten meters, skewering the archer atop the fountain who was about to shoot an arrow. The bow slipped from limp fingers, clattering on stone.
The remaining saber wielder and shield-bearer rushed in rage. Naturally, Kai happily met them head-on.
He fainted low as a saber attack slashed overhead. In the same breath he slammed his palm against the shield rim, jumping over it, and used the shield goblin’s helmet as a springboard, flipping behind them both.
While upside-down, he carved a shallow crescent mid-air, and the Azure Sword whispered across their spines, instantly killing them on the spot.
A few seconds later, Kai had also killed the last two goblins with ease.
As Kai killed the last goblin, the Goblin Commander screamed furiously and ordered all of its subordinates to kill Kai all at once!
Looking at the more than 100 goblins ranging from level 10 to 19, Kai immediately used his [Resurrection of the Dead] skill on the 20 goblins he had just killed.
Subsequently, Kai and the 20 Goblins charged at the three Goblin Captains right away, as he knew that the situation at Cedric’s side was looking bad.
One of his undead Goblin Captains had been killed, and from time to time, they got injured more easily since the Goblin Commander had become crazy trying to get over his side to kill him.
If it wasn’t because Kai healed them continuously, at least two or three undead Goblin Captains would’ve been dead at this time.
Naturally, the sight of the dead goblins suddenly coming back to life was noticed by the goblin commander, making him become more furious as fiends could be seen on his face this time.
As time was not on his side, Kai quickly took a quick glance at his levels, as he knew that after he had killed the 20 goblins before, his levels should’ve increased at least twice.

Kai immediately distributed 10 free stats into Mana and 5 free stats into Magic.
[Stats]: Strength: 70 (+45) / Agility: 101 (+40) / Physique: 67 (+25) / Sense: 36 (+20) / Mana: 75 (+20) / Magic: 54 (+20)
Afterwards, Kai summoned his first undead goblin, as he felt that it should’ve been safe enough for him to let it participate in the battle.
Without hesitation, Kai charged toward the closest Goblin Captain with the intention to kill it as fast as possible.
The Goblin Captain suddenly felt a sense of extreme danger as it noticed Kai had set his eyes on him. It then kicked the undead Goblin Captain and twisted its body while swinging his prickly mace, aiming at Kai.
When it saw that Kai didn’t dodge and raised his left palm as if intending to block the attack, the Goblin Captain smiled since it felt that it could crush his hand.
However, the goblin’s smile instantly disappeared when it saw that even though it did damage Kai’s hand, his hand had only bled a little since only a few of the spikes pierced Kai’s gloves and injured his hand a little.
In response, Kai slashed diagonally and cut its body into two from its shoulder to the rib cleanly.
In this short time, the other two had been injured severely and were almost at their ends while more than 100 goblins had almost arrived, only 20 meters away from them.
Kai immediately ordered his twenty undead goblins at levels 20-24, his first undead goblin, and the undead goblin captain in front of him to welcome the incoming goblins.
As Kai was about to resurrect the Goblin Captain he had just killed, he raised his eyebrow in surprise when he noticed that a white chest floated above the dead Goblin Captain.
Unlike the Orbs rewards that he had received, where he could select the rewards by himself, the chest reward was a random reward where you could get everything within the color rank, such as skills, weapons, stats, etc.
Kai directly came to the corpse and opened the chest, hoping that he would get something that could help him in this fight.
Fortunately, Kai got what he was hoping for, as there was a vial with a blue liquid inside the chest, which made Kai happy since this item would increase his chance of killing the Goblin Commander.
The item that he had received was a simple unranked mana potion, but with this mere mana potion, which could restore his mana fully in an instant, this item was the item that he needed the most in his current situation.
Because the consumption of healing Cedric and his undead Goblin Captains wasn’t small since they always got injured whenever the Goblin Commander attacked.
Now that he had a mana potion in his hand, his chance of killing the Goblin Commander had increased to at least 40%.
Because the reality was better than Kai had expected since he had overestimated the goblins, the original 20% chance had changed to around 30% after Kai had killed the 20 goblins at levels 20-24.
Meaning that with only one mana potion in his hand, the chance had increased at least 10%.
“Kai, you bastard! Why are you smiling like an idiot instead of helping us right away if you’re that free?” Cedric cursed loudly when he noticed that Kai had been smiling for a while as he looked at the white chest in his hands.
Kai raised his eyebrows and came back to his senses when he heard it. He then used his [Resurrection of the Dead] skill on the Goblin Captain after putting the mana potion in his inventory.
