Chapter 6: Level 24 – Goblin Captain
When the goblin sensed that the person who shouted just now was a mere level 2 human, quite a few goblins immediately changed their prey as they wanted to kill Kai instead of normal humans.
Looking at a dozen goblins charging at him, Kai showed a calm expression as he played with his military knife, tossing it around using his left hand.
The moment the closest goblin had reached 5 meters away from him, he instantly threw his knife swiftly, aiming at its head, and instantly killed it.
[Ding! You have killed Level 5 Goblin, obtaining 25% experience points.]
Ignoring the notification, Kai looked at the group of goblins charging toward him from multiple directions. He calmly steadied his azure sword in his right hand while his left remained free after throwing the knife.
Without any hesitation, he spun on his heel and delivered a swift circular slash. His enhanced agility made the goblins’ movements appear slow, allowing him to slice through one charging from his right before fluidly shifting his blade upward to cut down another leaping from his left.
Blood sprayed in thin arcs as each goblin fell, unable to react in time. Their daggers never even grazed Kai’s clothes. Every swing of his sword was swift and precise, reflecting his expertise in swordsmanship as well as superior stats.
A single sidestep was enough to dodge a goblin’s sloppy strike, followed by a quick horizontal slash that neatly separated head from body.
Even though the goblins outnumber Kai in total count, they found themselves cornered by the monstrous gap in power. One after another, they charged in futile attempts to injure him, only to be easily cut down by his simple sword movements.
The final two goblins sensed the danger too late as they tried to retreat. In response, Kai simply swung the sword in a swift downward strike at the closer one before stepping past its collapsing body and finishing off the last with a diagonal slash, splitting it into two easily.
He flicked the blood from the blade and glanced at the scattered corpses. Despite being merely level 2, his boosted stats and his own combat experience were overwhelming.

[Ding! Due to your level that was higher than the skeleton goblin, your skeleton goblin has also leveled up to level 3.]

When Kai noticed that he didn’t receive any more random stats from killing the goblins, he wasn’t surprised as he understood what happened.
The reason why he didn’t receive more stats was because the more creatures of the same type and similar level he killed, the less benefit he would get.
He didn’t understand why it was like this, but he understood that if he wanted to receive more stats, he needed to kill either higher-level goblins or just find another monster or even human.
Naturally, it wouldn’t be as simple as that since you must kill a creature that’s a higher level compared to you or significantly stronger than you.
‘It seems that my guess is correct.’ Kai thought to himself, noticing that the skeleton goblin who was bound to the undead space had leveled up like before.
He guessed that there must be some benefits for the undead who had been binded to the undead space. However, he didn’t know them as he had just unraveled one of its functions.
Subsequently, Kai took his military knife and looked at the surroundings, noticing that the goblins seemed to realize that even though Kai was merely level 2, his strength was beyond that level.
As Kai thought about how to lure more goblins without leaving the entrance of the valley, he suddenly heard people’s screams in the dungeon gate’s direction, making him tilt his head unknowingly.
Near the dungeon gate, Kai spotted a goblin roughly 2,3m tall massacring people left and right as its strength was much stronger compared to the people present in the surrounding.
Its dark green skin was defined with muscles, crisscrossed by old scars that spoke to its combat experience. It wore reinforced leather armor that looked scavenged and battle-scarred.
Sigh!
‘Fortunately it’s not a First Echelon Goblin Captain, and just an unranked one.’ Kai sighed in relief when it noticed that the Goblin Captain was only a level 24 and hadn’t reached the First Echelon.
Otherwise, he would’ve taken Nana and gotten out of here immediately without having a second thought since he knew that with his current strength and situation, it was still almost impossible for him to kill a First Echelon Goblin.
Nevertheless, Kai needed to be extra careful since he knew that his overall stats were definitely way lower compared to the level 24 Goblin Captain.
What Kai hadn’t expected when he focused his attention on the goblin captain was that he saw a translucent panel of data appear in front of him, surprising him as it showed its simple information that let him know its stats.
[Goblin Captain]
[Level]: 24
[Race]: Goblin
[Rank]: Unranked
[Stats]: Strength: 70 / Agility: 60 / Physique: 65 / Sense: 50 / Mana: 45 / Magic: 40
[Skill]: Battle Cry
When Kai looked at the goblin’s stats, he smiled faintly as he thought that he would finally have his first proper fight after he came back in time.
The reason why he was surprised when he could see the goblin’s stats was because in his previous life, no one could see other creatures’ stats, as they could only see the other’s level and name if they willingly showed their name or title.
Subsequently, Kai added his 10 free stat points into strength and agility as he distributed 2 into strength and 8 into agility stats.
[Stats]: Strength: 33 (+25) / Agility: 48 (+35) / Physique: 31 (+20) / Sense: 15 (+20) / Mana: 19 (+20) / Magic: 14 (+20)
