“I told you not to talk shit, you bastard,” William said.

Gripping Asura tightly, he decided it was time to end the fight. He needed to finish it as fast as possible.

He sprinted forward, jumped toward the boss, grabbed Asura with both hands, and slashed down, cutting the creature clean in half from its head down to the end of its body.

The strike was quick, powerful, and most importantly, fatal. The creature couldn’t withstand it and was sliced in two, finally dying.

After that, William collapsed onto the ground. His abilities had worn off, and he was feeling weak. He passed out.

When William woke up, he looked around and realized he was inside a small wooden cabin. He was alone, lying on a mattress on the floor.

Through the window, he could see that it was raining outside. The sound of the rain hitting the ground and the roof brought him a strange sense of peace. William just lay there, staring out the window for a while.

Then, the cabin door opened, revealing a beautiful woman he knew very well. It was Rena. She was holding a bucket of water in her hands.

“You’re awake??” she said, surprised. “That’s such good news.”

Right after she entered, someone else stepped inside too. It was the adventurer, his entire body wrapped in bandages.

William was just as surprised. “You? I thought you were dead.”

The adventurer gave a weak smile. “I thought I was going to die too, but I managed to survive thanks to your friend. Thank you for the help, seriously. I didn’t want to die.”

The way he spoke made William believe him. It seemed like he had changed, no longer acting like he would do anything just to run away.

“I’m William, and her name’s Rena,” William said.

The adventurer chuckled. “I already know that. You’ve been asleep for about three days, so I picked up a few things. My name’s Burt.”

“Three days?”

Each thing they said left William even more surprised.

Rena sat down and started explaining what had happened. After William passed out, she carried him and Burt through the portal, and they were teleported to this region, where she found the cabin.

During those three days, she had been taking care of both of them. Burt woke up one day after they arrived. William, on the other hand, had been unconscious for three whole days.

Using all those abilities to defeat the boss had come with a price. He spent three entire days completely unable to wake up.

At some points, Rena even got scared, worried he might not wake up at all. But what kept her going was the trust she had in William. Deep inside, she believed he would pull through.

Of course, the fact that he was still breathing helped a lot too. She knew just how strong William’s healing power was, so she trusted it was just a matter of time before he woke up and returned to his full strength.

“And where exactly are we?” he asked.

Rena didn’t know how to answer.

“I found this cabin right after we passed through the portal, and it was empty. I’ve been staying close by, only going as far as the creek to get water or into the forest to find something to eat. From what I could tell, there aren’t a lot of monsters around. It’s been pretty peaceful.”

The floor they were on was the last one before the resting hub—the place William had been aiming for all along. He wanted to take a break from the dungeon, and to do that, they needed to reach the hub first. Leaving before that wouldn’t be worth it.

But William wanted to leave. He would feel terrible staying stuck in the same place for days.

“I just want to get out of this dungeon already,” he said. “Let’s keep going.”

“I wasn’t thanking you for that,” he said. “I mean… thank you for saving my life. If it weren’t for you, I’d definitely be dead.”

Rena looked a little flustered. “I’ll go help Burt with the bandages. If you need anything, just call me.”

She got up and went back into the cabin, leaving William alone again.

William grabbed the phone he had found and started checking the messages to see if there was anything interesting. That’s when he saw they were talking about the invasion of the Demon Island.

The invasion had already started! That made William even more anxious. He wanted to leave the dungeon as soon as possible, but it seemed like everything was going wrong for him.
