Chapter 128: Entertainment

Nonchalantly, Richard entered the prison. His two hands were resting in his pockets as he whistled a pleasant song.

“Is that?”

“A human!”

The locked-up troublemakers were shocked when they spotted him.

Even if the aliens could emulate a human’s appearance. The way Richard carried himself made it apparent what his origins were.

“HEY!” One of the larger criminals gripped the iron bars, catching the Master’s attention.

“Release me this instance, and I promise that you will be rewarded handsomely for your efforts!”

Richard’s eyes began to sparkle with amusement. Not halting his rhythmic whistling, he went towards the inmate.

“…!”

The eyes of the criminal instantly enlarged. When Richard had been far, he couldn’t take a glimpse at his cultivation. But now with them standing so close to one another, he realized the truth.

’A Master!’

The locked man would have begun to jump from joy if he wasn’t keeping his poker face.

With the threat outside, the chance of death was high. However, if he could buy the service of a Peak Master, perhaps leaving the city intact would be possible.

“I am willing to pay for an escort!” The man proclaimed loudly.

Wanting to ensure that the Master was going to agree to the guard duty, the prisoner relayed all of that information. Going into details about how he had acquired his riches.

Once the man was done, Richard stopped his song as a wide smile spread over his face.

“Somebody besides my Boss wants to order me around?”

Witnessing the confusion on the man’s face, Richard pointed to Michael, who was casually sitting on a chair enjoying the spectacle.

The inmate became bewildered. Did a Peak Master just call a Middle Expert his Boss? Certain that they were hallucinating or just heard wrong, they rubbed their eyes. Yet the reality didn’t change.

This wasn’t a dream, but a reality.

“Here is what is going to happen—”

Richard relayed the same message Michael had been doing until now. Just like before, the locked people were hesitant at first, but when they thought about the torture that awaited them if they remained here, they became eager to join the battle with the promise of turning over a new life.

“W—Wait!” The man who had tried to buy Richard’s services recoiled backwards. His face was flushing red from worry.

Obeying the plan Richard had suggested would mean he was destined to die! The only thing he was good at was extorting people, not fighting to the death! His bloated belly was enough proof of that.

“I—I haven’t broken any laws! The reason I was here was because an investigation was being conducted. But after they found that there was nothing to pin against me, I would have been left free!”

Thankfully he had spared no resources on bribing several officials. As such, no court had declared him guilty up until now.

In short, the man was arguing that there were no bad deeds to be redeemed. Rather than risking his life distracting the aliens, he should be treated just like any other ordinary civilian.

Michael let out a chuckle. As it turned out, observing the spectacle was more entertaining than he could have expected.

Richard arched an eyebrow. The fat man had just boasted about how he was exploiting people for their money, and now he wanted to act like he was innocent?

“My Boss gives you such a great opportunity, yet you dare to ask for more?”

His tone dropped to a threatening level, causing the criminals to instantly go back to their cells. If the Master were to go on a rampage, there would be no stopping him.

“Listen—”

Before the man could retort, Richard gripped him by the collar and threw him into the middle of the prison.

“OBSERVE!”

Richard’s shout echoed across the interior of the building.

“This is what happens when you try to abuse my Boss’ goodwill!”

If the man had said that he wasn’t willing to follow them, he would have simply remained locked in his cell. Yet he wanted not only to be freed but also to be treated as an innocent despite the things he had done up until now?

Boom!

Hell-bent on making an example out of the inmate, Richard began to rain punches on his figure. Of course he was holding more than 95% of his power. Otherwise, the man would die in one hit.

“Hey… Isn’t this Parker?”

“You mean the notorious loan shark that will give money to the most desperate and then exploit them for several times what they owe?”

Slowly but surely the locked criminals began to recognize the former boss of the outskirts. Most of them had resorted to doing drastic things in order to get money and settle the debts they owed to this man.

“Kill him!”

“Make him pay!”

In a bizarre turn of events the prison turned into a sort of arena. The prisoners were chanting in Richard’s honor as he slowly beat Parker to death.

’I like this guy!’ Devil’s Tongue laughed joyfully, observing the chaos.

’Don’t you dare discard this man later. He will prove entertaining in the future!’ The soul weapon had quickly begun to warm up to Richard.

Fueled by the onlookers’ chants, the Master lost himself in his fight, stopping only when his opponent’s limbs grew cold.

“ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!” He roared, raising his two bloody fists to the sides.

In response the cheers grew even louder. Had it not been for the prison walls designed with noise-canceling in mind, the aliens would have picked up the sounds long ago.

“You might be right. He convinced the prison pretty quickly.” Michael mused. “Besides that, I am exhausted. Letting him take the role while I rest will not be a bad idea.”

With a shake of his head, Richard made a gesture toward Michael.

“This is the person that deserves your praise. Had it not been for the Boss, I would have been left to rot just like you!”

Without hesitation the criminals shifted the target of their chant.

“BOSS! BOSS! BOSS!”

Thanks to Richard’s efforts, the prisoners were as determined to fight for their freedom as soldiers heading into battle.

With the Master’s help, Michael proceeded to free the inmates of several more prisons until the 24 hours of preparation passed.

It was time for the civilian rescue mission to begin.
