Among the numerous alien races that existed, one thing united them all: the majority sought to evolve into Titans. Massive creatures of immense presence, capable of bringing colossal destruction. But due to the massive amount of spiritual energy required, very few could ever dream of reaching such a level.

However, what lay beyond a Titan was something even more formidable. Ascendants, despite having many times more spiritual energy in their reserves than Titans, weren’t confined to colossal forms. Capable of manipulating their size at will, it allows them to create advanced high-level societies. Rightfully they were regarded as the final form of what any life could hope to achieve.

Only the Eternals and Primordials stood above them, though reaching the very pinnacle of power was considered impossible without external help. The Ascendants were revered as gods, yet in reality, they were merely near-divine entities. True godlike power belonged solely to the Primordials, who alone held dominion over the cosmos.

Currently, three overwhelming presences, radiating the unmistakable aura of Ascendants, roamed the boundless cosmos in relentless search.

“Waste of time.” Estelle, the only woman among them, heaved a disdainful sigh, her gaze shifting to the male in front.

“Rylan, do you believe it? God’s words about there being a Regressor who supposedly stole Singularis and used its power to reverse time? It seems unlikely. What if another Primordial stole it instead and is now just covering their tracks?”

Rylan remained silent for a few seconds.

“We are nobody to doubt God’s words… But I assure you, there is no need for concern. If another Primordial had truly gained Singularis before our God, we would be dead before we even knew it. Us drawing breath is proof enough.”

Russell, the male who had remained silent until now, scoffed.

“I understand the worries of the Ancient Ones, but is there really a need to send us searching for the supposed Regressor? Isn’t it for tasks precisely like this that we have enslaved so many other races? Sending a Titan or two should do the trick, no?”

Rylan shook his head.

“Taking into consideration that our enemy could know everything there is to know, it’s possible they are capable of challenging Titans. However, being able to rival us so quickly isn’t feasible, regardless of how much knowledge they might possess. Our rulers are simply being thorough, nothing more.”

Gradually, they began to near their destination: a beautiful star with eight planets orbiting it.

The solar system.

“According to our gathered intelligence, the race we are about to meet is called Humans.” Rylan exclaimed. “The strongest member of their kind is equal to a single Titan, though they appear to have changed the naming of their realms. In their case, they call their ruler the Emperor.”

Estelle sneered. “Pitiful creatures, wanting to be unique is a sign of low intelligence.”

Because the three Ascendants were part of the Etrox race, they were able to alter their appearance to mimic humans, making negotiations easier.

“Is it true they have yet to figure out mass teleportation?” Russell laughed. “We are really overqualified for this task…”

Clearly, the three were far from pleased about having to deal with such mundane affairs… But to their pleasant surprise, they spotted a figure residing at the edge of the solar system.

“Saves us trouble…”

The three Ascendants hovered over Pluto, their forms softly descending on the surface of the dwarf planet.

There, the beautiful form of Queen Seer awaited, patiently sitting on a rock with a closed golden book resting over her delicate thighs.

“Human.” Rylan, appointed leader of the Ascendants, spoke.

“Seeing you waiting like this… did you expect us to come?”

Seer’s blindfold betrayed no emotion.

“Yes. Fate foretold that a great threat awaits us.”

Estelle arched an eyebrow. “So you are an oracle? Good. That saves us some trouble.”

To avoid overwhelming Seer, the Ascendants had deliberately restrained the aura they emitted.

“May I ask… what is the purpose of your visit?” Seer asked.

Rylan cut to the chase.

“I will be honest. The Great Primordials are searching for a Regressor. Because of this, the mightiest races have intensified their conquest over lesser beings like yourselves.”

Rylan paused briefly.

“You have two choices. Bend the knee, kneel in submission, and accept the honor of becoming enslaved to the great Etrox race, and we will spare your kind after thoroughly searching for our target among your ranks. Or defy us… and be destroyed. In just a few hours, none of you would remain.”

A painted smile spread across Queen Seer’s face, her gaze lowering as she gently opened the thick cover of her golden book.

“Summon your strongest.” Russell suddenly bellowed. “There is no point going into detail with a mere servant.”

“Strongest?” Seer whispered, her hands halting momentarily as she turned over the pages.

Rylan nodded. “If you follow the natural order, led by the strongest, then only the most powerful among your kind is truly qualified to make such decisions. Where is this person? Summon them now, and the worst fate for your race may still be averted.”

It was astounding. The sheer, overwhelming power radiating from the souls of these three aliens seemed to surpass even the Emperor in virtually every conceivable way.

Seer could easily predict what would happen should she call the Emperor. The proud man would resist, challenge the Ascendants… and die, dooming his entire race in the process.

A pitiful end to their existence. After all they had endured, they would be extinguished just like that, and no struggling could hope to change the outcome.

“So this is why fate has been acting strangely lately.” Seer murmured. “Humans… humankind was never meant to survive, never meant to prosper… But to perish, due to their inability to resist.”

Throughout her life, Queen Seer had always believed her powers were nothing more than a curse. Being an oracle was one of the most harrowing fates a person could endure.

Worse still, fate had burdened her with a certain power… a technique, supposedly of the Supreme rank, yet utterly useless. She had never found a situation where she could truly wield it.

Besides being able to peer deep into the souls of living beings, Seer could glimpse their past selves and record them as echoes for as long as they were currently weaker than her… A frustratingly pointless technique. To use it, the target had to be weaker than she was, so why would she ever risk putting herself in near-death state just to summon a past version of someone already beneath her?

Even if a cultivator had their cultivation crippled, some trace of spiritual energy would remain in their physique. For instance, if the Emperor were to lose his realm, she would never be able to glimpse his past selves.

After all, even if people progress slowly, they don’t truly regress…

“So be it.” Seer proclaimed, pausing at the final page. “I shall fulfill your request and summon the strongest.”

The edges of her golden book began to glow, radiating a blinding light. Causing an unexplainable shudder to pass down the backs of the Ascendants.

“Heed my plea, remnant echo of a soul tormented across a distant future. Bind my spirit and aid your kin. I call forth… Harbinger of Ruin, Celestial Godkiller, Supreme Paragon Michael.”

From that moment onward, only death awaited.
