Chapter 308: Three Against One

The vibrant explosions marked the start of the clash between the two factions. Troy, Julia, and Gregory, the three Lords of the Eternal Blade, stood atop their castle. Their eyes locked on the far horizon.

The only thing they could hear through the communication channels they had established with the scout teams were their screams of anguish as they fell, one by one.

Julia sighed. “Was it necessary to sacrifice a part of our forces to weed them out?”

From her point of view there was no need to exercise caution. The Indomitable Alliance was nothing but a sham in her eyes.

Troy grimaced.

“Don’t underestimate them. Even if they don’t have Lords, they still have earned a spot in the blessed lands. There is a reason for that…”

He paused, an image of Michael smiling menacingly, with a finger over his lips, resurfacing in his mind.

“Plus… I have a nagging suspicion that they have some kind of plan…”

Gregory chuckled.

“Even if they do. What can they possibly do to us?”

Troy shook his head.

“Maybe you are right… Still, we would play it extra safe.”

The scout teams sent by the Eternal Blade were mere bait. To their pleasant surprise, the Indomitable Alliance took the bait quickly. Now, they had pinpointed the locations of the Grandmasters…

Lord Troy nodded.

“We have seven Grandmasters. Since one of them acts as the leader, she would remain in the castle. The other six would split into teams of two and strike Victoria, Claire, and Richard. Even if they are stronger than normal for their realm, they wouldn’t be able to keep up with two of their equals…”

A hideous smile tugged the Lord’s face.

“This will deal with their Grandmasters. Our remaining forces will overwhelm the unremarkable members of the Indomitable Alliance, while the three of us focus on putting their leader, Michael, in his place. I can only hope the drones capture his pitiful expression when he realizes that fighting had been futile all this time.”

“Since our victory is all but assured, I want our Grandmasters to break Victoria and Claire thoroughly.” Julia giggled. “It would be a pleasure to watch the facade of their image crumble in front of the world.”

Since Julia was one of the rare exceptions, where even reaching the Lord realm hadn’t fixed her disfigured face. She harbored deep hatred for those she deemed more attractive than herself.

It only added to her frustration that Victoria and Claire, mere Grandmasters, possessed beauty that not only surpassed her facial features but even her entire figure.

Gregory’s eyes narrowed, a smirk forming for the first time. “That sounds like a good time… Sadly, we can’t go too far since the world is watching.”

With the plan formed, they didn’t linger. Giving the order, they rushed toward the heart of the jungle.

The six Grandmasters trailed far behind, while the seventh stayed at the castle, having taken the role of leader. The Lords had deliberately avoided taking on that responsibility themselves. Even though it wouldn’t necessarily hinder their movements, it would spell disaster if their enemies somehow pulled off a miracle and defeated them.

There was simply too much on the line. If the Eternal Blade were to lose in the very first round, they would be thrown out of the blessed lands, and that couldn’t be allowed to happen! Losing in the later stages of the tournament wouldn’t matter in the slightest, but this was a fight they had to win at all costs!

Exchanging glances, the six Grandmasters spread out.

“Ho?” Richard, who had just finished dealing with the scout team, sensed two powerful presences drawing near.

“Two versus one? I like those odds…” He exclaimed, cracking his knuckles.

Simultaneously, Claire found herself flanked by two Grandmasters.

“Only two? I’m greatly offended.” She declared, sweeping her lance to the side, clearing the weapon of the blood that clung to it.

“You seem to have underestimated me…”

Meanwhile, Victoria, who had burned the nearby soldiers to a crisp, shifted her gaze toward the two warriors meant to confront her.

She didn’t utter a single word, but her dragon-like stare sent chills down the spines of the two Grandmasters.

“Good.” Troy muttered in satisfaction.

When the Lords faced Michael, every Grandmaster in the Indomitable Alliance would be occupied. Since the acting leader of the Eternal Blade was a Grandmaster, their victory was all but guaranteed, with no one left to challenge them.

“The plan is perfect!” Lord Troy laughed, sending every tree along his path flying.

Leo, positioned at a vantage point, took notice of the Lords’ approach.

Wordlessly, he shifted his scope to the Experts and Masters left behind by their leaders and began firing, aiming to eliminate as many as he could.

Finally, the surroundings cleared around the Lords, their gaze settling on the looming castle.

“You are done!”

Instead of wasting time climbing the protective walls, they simply obliterated them.

At that moment, the outcome of the battle seemed all but decided.

During the live broadcast, the commentators, who usually remained silent until a critical point in the battle, finally spoke out loud.

“Oh, gods, the Indomitable Alliance seems to be in a tight spot!” The female commentator exclaimed in concern.

“It was inevitable.” The male commentator sighed in dejection.

While the audience held their breath, the Lords stormed the castle, turning the place upside down in search of the Indomitable Alliance’s leader.

At last, the three froze as they entered the main chamber. An elevated throne was erected at the far end of the room, upon which Michael sat, unfazed. A faint smile tugged at his face, his leg crossed over the other, with an extended finger supporting his head.

“We meet face to face.” Troy exclaimed, drawing nearer. “And this time, there’s no one you can rely on for help.”

A second later, the Lord’s brow twitched. For some reason, Michael seemed even more unbothered than usual, despite being in the presence of three Lords.

“Enough games!” Julia declared, unleashing her aura, with the other Lords following suit.

In a heartbeat, the full extent of their presence collided with Michael.

The commentators of the broadcast were rendered speechless, the live chat abruptly halting as everyone stared in utter awe.

Despite the overwhelming pressure, Michael remained unnaturally calm. A smile still visible on his face.

“Is this all you’ve got?”

His mocking tone deliberately reached the spectating drones, his voice transmitting throughout the live broadcast.

Summoning Devil in his sword form, he wiggled his finger at the Lords in a taunting gesture.

“If so… This will be easier than I thought.”
