’The bad part of being surrounded is that you can be attacked from any direction. The good part of being surrounded is that you can attack in every direction.’ Michael mused, moving as fast as he could.

The enemies were in the hundreds of thousands, and his goal was to kill as many as he could. So rather than focus on any foe individually, he would target unsuspecting victims. If his ambush failed, he wouldn’t bother finishing the alien he had engaged, instead pouncing on the next one.

’Usually this isn’t a fighting style that I prefer since the number of my pursuers will only increase, but it’s the best form of plan at the moment.’

The trail of dead bodies slowly began to increase. The other captains also did their part, meeting the force of the aliens unafraid in an attempt to slow them down.

The two generals had jumped right into the enemy lines, as did Michael. Usually Roy would have been more cautious, but with the threat being so dire, he couldn’t allow these monsters to reach his troops.

The common soldiers focused on withdrawing backwards while providing artillery support whenever they could.

Ava shattered the ground beneath her as she used her hammer to squash several aliens like ants.

Before she was about to pounce on the next threat, she saw that Victoria was being held back by several Elites.

Of course, since Roy’s original estimate of the Higher aliens had been inaccurate, so was his assumption about the Elites. Rather than 100, they were closer to 1,000 in reality.

As such, Victoria had made it her priority to get rid of as many Elites as she could.

’I will leave the smaller foes to my subordinates. I can trust them with this.’ She thought.

“This idiot! Just because you are a Master doesn’t mean that you can take several Elites at once! Even Roy is only handling a single one at a time!” Ava mumbled, shooting towards Victoria in an attempt to provide support.

’I can see why Michael wanted me to support her.’ Her eyes shifted towards the enemy lines. With so many foes in the their ranks, she was unable to see Michael’s figure. The only confirmation that he was alive was the dead aliens, which would fall from time to time.

“How come every time he dashes forwards, I am forced to stay back?! For fuck’s sake, he is a realm lower than me!” She roared before hitting an Elite in the back of the head.

“Cute junior?” Victoria mumbled, shocked by her appearance. “What are you doing here? You are supposed to halt the Higher tier aliens.”

Ava pouted before delivering another strike. “I would have if someone cared more for their well-being!”

Despite the struggle of the 60 captains, the aliens’ numbers were simply overwhelming, forcing them to go backward, unable to hold them completely.

“To think that we could miss so many!” Roy clenched his teeth in frustration. “Had it not been for Captain Michael, we would have been surrounded by them, sealing our doom!”

Leo, Enzo, Amelia, Bryce, and the others fought with everything they had.

“Lately, it seems that we are fighting things that we have no business fighting.” Enzo complained, taking a breath before pouncing on another foe.

“This is what it means to be a part of the Indomitable Alliance! HAHAHA!” Leo laughed joyfully, unleashing hellfire with his two miniguns.

Bryce, who was positioned in the back, made sure to support anyone that found themselves in trouble.

’I hope Claire can come sooner.’ He prayed. A moment later, he focused towards the furthest point he could see.

“What is Michael doing there?!” He wondered out loud, his eyes almost popping out of their sockets.

Not even ten minutes had passed since the start of the battle, yet Michael’s kill count had already reached the triple digits.

“This is not enough. With this speed not only will I not be able to kill 20,000, but we also will be overrun.” He complained, his white military uniform slowly becoming drenched in blood.

’Is that what you are worrying about, you madman? Most would be running for their lives, scared shitless about being surrounded by so many aliens.’ His soul weapon pointed out in a joyful manner.

It was safe to say that it was having the time of its life!

“My goals are beyond your understanding.” Michael mumbled.

Relying on Perfect Vision, he went even further into the enemy lines. Even if he were to accidentally piss off an Elite, all he had to do was get away from their sight with Dash or Blink.

His sudden power-up would have gone unnoticed had it not been for Bryce, who had been paying attention from the sideline, ready to assist Michael should he find himself overwhelmed.

“I think he might not need my help at all…” The old man mumbled, deciding to assist Victoria and Ava.

Michael’s killing spree began to lessen the impact on the other captains. With the decreasing number of foes coming towards them, they weren’t forced to constantly move backwards.

’Are their numbers thinning?’ Roy thought.

“Don’t stop! As long as we hold on until the reinforcements arrive, we are going to survive!” He shouted, boosting morale.

Meanwhile, deep in the enemy lines, a large trail of bodies had been left behind.
