She immediately released Alex.

Chronos spoke.

“For some reason, You do not exist in the Akashic Records.”

Alex frowned.

“You’re like a ghost that has appeared out of nowhere,” Chronos continued, “and is now messing with timelines, outcomes, and destinies.”

“The universe cannot erase what does not exist.”

Alex swallowed.

“But I do exist,” he said. “I’m real, aren’t I?”

Aurora nodded slowly.

“That,” she said, “is what baffles all of us the most.”

She stared straight at him.

“What the hell are you, Alex?”

“Or rather… who are you?”

She continued,

“Your sister Lily exists in the Akashic Records.”

“But you don’t.”

Alex took a deep, shaky breath.

“I seriously don’t know what the hell I am,” he said quietly, “or who the hell I am.”

“Before all this… I lived on a planet named Earth.”

He clenched his fists.

“One day, I died.”

“And then I woke up in this body.”

Chronos nodded.

“You might think this only happens to you,” he said calmly. “But it doesn’t.”

“You are not the first.”

“And you won’t be the last as it happens many times.”

“It’s just that you look a lot like Evelyn.”

Chronos yelled,

“For the love of god, listen here and stop flirting, you bastard!”

Alex shrugged.

“Chill out, dude. You have my full attention.”

“And it’s my first time hearing a god call another god out.”

Chronos laughed darkly.

“Laugh all you want.”

“Because you’re going to cry later.”

Alex stiffened.

“What does that mean?”

Chronos’s expression turned cold.

“The will of the universe is not merciful.”

“It has many other ways to make you not exist.”

“And worse… to make you wish you didn’t exist.”
