“She said Elinor is dead,” Lilith sternly answered, while showing signs of pouncing on Lyra and finishing what she started.

“No! That little psycho is lying,” Lyra instantly argued, but to her shock, her little bro sternly glanced and her and warned, “Speak only when spoken to.”

“Ace, it’s a misunderstanding,” Dee3 cut in, finally making it to the scene and explaining why she did not make use of the curse array formation core to help Lyra.

Observing her state, I was beginning to understand, back when we first met, why she didn’t just run away on her own. Instead, she called Thunder and waited for it to come and pick her up. Physically, she appeared to be weaker than an average mortal. These observations made me a little concerned about Dee3’s health. I made a mental note to talk to her about this later.

“Lilith, honey, why don’t you hand the knife to me?” Dee3 said, prying the meat cleaver from Lilith’s hand. If not for the latter’s cooperation, she would have collapsed from exhaustion trying to do so.

“Where are her guardians?” Mary asked, getting protective of her daughter, feeling that this might not be a prank after all.

“Mom, relax. Lyra is overreacting. Let me handle this,” I stepped in, knowing my mother would make a huge deal out of this incident.

Signalling Lyra to get it together, I asked my little aunt, “Mandy, why don’t you take my mother and Dee3 inside and get started on the lease?”

“Wait—” Mary began trying to get to the bottom of this, but Mandy did not give her the chance, pulled her into the house, saying, “Mary, let the kids sort this out themselves. Let us finalise the lease. I am sure Ms. Dee3 has places to be, just like me.”

“Fine,” Mary had no choice but to agree. After all, Lilith’s guardians weren’t just average Joes. She was beginning to feel that leasing the Lansky manor to a celebrity might be more than what they bargained for.

As soon as our mother left her side, Lyra hurriedly hid behind me. She appeared to be genuinely afraid of Lilith. I had no idea what the little angel of death did, but I had a feeling Lyra was going to have nightmares about it for many nights.

Making sure Mandy, my mother, and Dee3 couldn’t hear us, I left my sister alone and walked behind Lilith and gently held her by her shoulder and questioned my big sis, “So, tell me what happened in detail. Don’t try to exaggerate to make yourself look less of a coward. I will ask Dee3 later.”

Without a high-tier curse core, Lilith was just an eight-year-old curse user who wouldn’t measure up to an average mortal-tier in terms of strength. Especially not Lyra, who had two mortal-tier curse tool spirits supporting her.

I couldn’t understand how Lyra not only lost to Lilith but also ran home crying for help. Honestly, if not for Elinor making Lilith promise her not to kill and not to use her curse abilities and behave normally in front of mortals, Lyra was only a few breaths short of becoming one of Lilith’s cursed corpse a.k.a. Lilith’s bitch.

Lyra has done a lot of stupid things in her life, but this was the first time I felt ashamed of being Lyra Lander’s younger brother.

Yes, Lilith had a very powerful innate curse art, but so did Lyra. I really couldn’t wrap my mind around this.

“Ace, are you my brother or that little psycho’s brother?” Lyra asked in a complaining tone, feeling judged.

“How dare you call my little sister a little psycho? Mind your tongue, lady,” I thundered, while pasting a curse suppression talisman squarely on Lilith’s back, cutting her connection with her curse core and her Curseling partner.

The curse suppression talisman was more effective on Lilith because her curse core and curseling partner were in her heart, i.e., in her body, so one talisman did the job, unlike in Ava’s case, where she held her innate curse tool in her hand, which also happens to be her curse anchor.

The curse suppression talisman was very handy. Emi had big plans for this talisman. The question was whether she could successfully implement them.
