This caught me off guard momentarily but it made sense after a bit of thought. The dragon was an existence infinitely close to godhood and so obviously it had something approaching that sort of conceptual power. It was painfully obvious that it’s concept was destruction much like the reversion of my main cursed technique. It’s destruction was pure however, mana based unlike mine. It was unbothered by missing me and began to charge up another beam that I noped the fuck out the way of.-

I knew intimately what getting hit with erasure did and wasn’t keen to experience it firsthand. This time however the beam struck the wall of Orario and created a paradox. [Durandal] made the wall indestructible and it had just been hit with a beam of pure destruction. The very world seemed to scream at this paradox until something broke. The world solved the paradox in the easiest way possible, it erased it. The very point that the beam struck the wall and that part of the beam simply got erased from time, like they never existed to begin with. It was horrifying on a deeply primordial level as even the dragon paused for a tiny moment as the sheer temporal toll of this struck it.-

The beast might be the closest thing to an unsealed god on the planet and can shrug off localized time magics but this was time being effectively edited by the entire world. Not even it could resist something like that. I used this momentary pause to blast myself onto the mountainous back of the beast. I coated my weapons edge in my own erasure and dragged it across it’s scales in a squatted run. This left a thin cut in it’s hide that a line of deep red blood dripped from for a moment before it started to scab over.-

It also made the dragon LIVID. It roared and the sheer power of this roar broke my bones and pressed my organs down like paper. I recovered thanks to my helmet protecting my brain but everyone on top of the wall? Reduced to red stains if they hadn’t gotten lucky and were flung away first behind the wall. Ottar was among those lucky few as he was durable enough to survive the impact of the roar and fall behind the wall before it could keep pressing him. –

I had only barely managed to restore some of myself when I blasted to the side to avoid the massive gaping fanged maw coming at me. I fixed the rest of the damages mid flight and stabbed the dragon with a beam of erasure before it batted me away with a wing. It was seriously trying to kill me at this point as it even ignored Ottar when he jumped in and started chipping a few of it’s scales and otherwise proving a nuisance. It got me in the end as it tricked me by feigning a claw swipe only to fire a beam of erasure when I was too slow to catch the trick by a split second.-

My head was thankfully spared but the dragon still batted it away with it’s tail like disposing of trash. Ottar died shortly after I smashed into babel and then through it to crash hard against the back end of the wall around Orario. I burned my energy as fast as possible to regrow my body but I’d never regrown an entire body from merely a head so this wasn’t a fast or easy process at all. It was also VERY expensive energy wise. –

By the time I was done I was down a whole quarter of my total energy. I quickly covered my bits below with a nearby cotton sheet I changed with my technique into shorts before rushing to Babel. I needed Haruhime who was camped at the entrance to the dungeon with Hestia and Ouranos to use her magic on me. I would have done it before fighting the dragon but the magic had a time limit and Haruhime only had the stamina to cast it twice before mind zeroing.-

By the time I saw the dragon approaching I didn’t have time to go get the buff.

“Alex what!?” Hestia exclaimed but I interrupted.

“Can’t talk need buff NOW!” I yelled and Haruhime panicked and started hurriedly reciting the incantation of her spell.

“Grow. That power and that vessel. Breadth of wealth and breadth of wishes. Until the bell tolls, bring forth glory and illusion. Grow. Confine divine offerings within this body. This golden light bestowed from above. Into the hammer and into the ground, may it bestow good fortune upon you. Grow” she chanted and a golden aura flowed from her clasped hands to me.

Instantly I felt myself be elevated higher and strength unlike anything I knew before fill me.

I blasted off with ease and space warped as I moved so fast the air couldn’t even break fast enough to be noticed. The sonic boom of my acceleration only registered after my feet planted into the side of the dragons cheek snapping it’s head to the side as it’s scales shatter on impact.

“ROUND TWO BITCH!” I yelled in glee at this result.

The dragon went to open it’s mouth to unleash another roar but i snapped into position below it’s chin and fully unleashed my newfound strength forcing it’s jaws closed creating a dull resounding “THWUB” as the roar choked in it’s chest. –

To my horror however it’s mana spiked dreadfully and the world started to press down on us as it’s body began to balloon in size and muscle. Like all high level monsters the dragon had a second more powerful stage. I was not strong enough to handle it. My thrill at finally matching the beast died in my chest as I instinctively understood how fucked I was.
