Chapter 73: Ch 73: A God’s End
The battle had just begun, but already, the odds had shifted.
Aegis stood on Gaia’s broken form, his foot pressing down hard into the shattered stone, unyielding, as if the earth itself could not break him. His trident glinted ominously in the pale light, the blade shimmering with power that even the Gods would fear.
Gaia’s enormous body lay crumpled, bloodied with cracks running across his stone skin like a fallen titan of legend.
The massive God groaned beneath Aegis’s weight, gasping in futile defiance.
“You… you bastard,” Gaia hissed through clenched teeth, unable to push Aegis off. “You can’t… you can’t just—”
Crack!
Aegis, without a shred of hesitation, slammed his foot into Gaia’s torso, shattering his ribs and sending shockwaves of agony through the Giant God’s body.
“This is the price for betraying me,” Aegis said calmly, his voice like ice cutting through the battlefield.
Medusa shrieked from a distance, her head swiveling as she saw her ally fall. The terror was palpable in her eyes as her venomous gaze landed on Aegis.
“No… no…!” she cried, stepping back as the reality of their situation hit. “Gaia! You… you can’t be defeated so easily!”
Aegis turned his gaze toward her, his face stoic, his next words filled with calm finality. “You think this is over?”
Before she could respond, Aegis was already in front of her.
Medusa’s eyes widened in terror as she swung her dagger-like nails toward Aegis’s neck, a last desperate attempt. But he was faster—much faster.
His knee met her chest with a sickening crack.
The force of the blow crushed her, sending her flying across the battlefield like a ragdoll.
Bang!
She slammed into the ground, crumpling in a heap.
Blood oozed from her mouth, and her breathing was shallow. She was barely conscious, but still alive.
Ann, watching from the sidelines, could hardly believe his eyes. His hands trembled as he saw Gaia fall so easily. He could hardly process the carnage. The arrogance, the pride, everything that had sustained his belief in his superiority, was crumbling before his eyes.
Aegis wasn’t just powerful.
He was a predator. And they were the prey.
Aegis took a step toward Ann.
The young man recoiled, eyes narrowing as Aegis’s shadow grew ever closer.
“No. This isn’t possible. You… you’re just a human!”
Aegis’s eyes flared with icy fury. He was done with words. Done with negotiations.
He raised the God-Killer Trident high.
The weapon hummed, the air around it vibrating with raw power. Aegis gripped the trident’s shaft, his knuckles tightening as it pulsed with energy.
The God-Killer Trident was not just any weapon. It was the harbinger of death to gods.
Ann’s heart pounded in his chest, terror clawing at his throat. He knew what that trident could do; he had seen it from a distance. It was no mere weapon. It was a tool forged to annihilate even the gods themselves.
“Stay back!” Ann shouted, his voice cracking as he summoned his remaining strength.
But it was too late.
Aegis charged forward like a tidal wave. The trident sliced through the air in a deadly arc, and the earth beneath them quaked with the sheer force of its descent.
Ann barely managed to roll out of the way, but not before the trident’s edge scraped across his arm, leaving a deep, bleeding gash. He staggered back, his mind reeling in panic.
“Gods… no…!” Ann’s breath hitched as he realized how little his power meant in the face of this unstoppable force.
But then, in a desperate move, Ann threw his hands forward, and with a primal scream,
“Avatar Displacement!” he shouted.
Instantly, a wave of energy erupted around him, golden light swirling as his body expanded and transformed into a colossal figure. His skin turned to stone, his eyes glowing with divine power. The air crackled with godly energy as he fully invoked his Mountain God form.
Aegis paused, watching as the transformation took place. He could sense the raw, unrelenting power that Ann had summoned. For the first time, a hint of uncertainty flickered in Aegis’s eyes.
“I am the Mountain God’s heir!” Ann bellowed, his voice now echoing like a thunderclap. “You are nothing before me!”
Aegis smirked, the corner of his lips turning up slightly.
“Is this your last attempt? Then let’s see how you hold up.”
But before Aegis could strike, the ground trembled again, this time under Medusa’s magic. She wasn’t finished. Her figure slowly rose from the ground, her face twisted in fury.
“You think this is over?” Medusa snarled. “I’m going to get for erasing my breasts!”
She raised both hands, channeling the last remnants of her strength. Her body crackled with energy, and her eyes blazed with an unnatural, terrifying light.
She, too, activated her Avatar Displacement.
A wave of energy swept across the battlefield, and Medusa’s body morphed into a gigantic serpentine creature of venom. Her once graceful form turned monstrous, her face now a twisted visage of power.
Aegis looked at both of them—Ann, now a towering god, and Medusa, transformed into a creature that could rival even the Titans.
For a moment, they stood in a tense stalemate, glaring at Aegis as if he were nothing more than a stepping stone.
Ann’s golden eyes glinted with malevolent triumph. “You think you can stand against gods, Aegis? You think you can fight us with your tiny weapon?”
Aegis, unfazed, raised the trident once again.
“Try me.”
In a flash, the battle erupted.
Gaia, still in his giant form, surged toward Aegis, but Aegis was already moving faster. His trident spun like a whirlwind, deflecting blows from Ann’s massive arms and cutting through Medusa’s venomous strikes.
The two of them, now imbued with divine strength, attacked relentlessly.
Ann swung a massive fist at Aegis, but with a fluid motion, Aegis dodged, his body moving with the grace of water, the power of a flood at his back.
The trident connected with Ann’s stone-armored chest.
Crack.
A loud roar of pain reverberated as Ann staggered back, clutching his chest. The blow had pierced his divine armor, leaving a deep wound. The godly light in his eyes flickered briefly.
Whoosh…
Before Ann could retaliate, Aegis was on him again.
The trident’s edge flashed with deadly intent, carving through Ann’s body like butter.
As a result, Stone and divine power shattered under the relentless strikes.
Meanwhile, Medusa, her monstrous form lashing out with cruel precision, aimed a deadly strike at Aegis. But with an almost nonchalant ease, Aegis sidestepped, his foot connecting with her side.
She flew across the battlefield, crashing into a jagged stone cliff, dust and debris rising around her.
Gaia’s laughter filled the air, but even he seemed to hesitate.
“Not bad,” he muttered. “But you’re still not godlike. Not yet.”
Aegis looked over his shoulder, his expression hardening.
“I don’t need to be a god. I’ve never needed that.”
With a single motion, he raised the God-Killer Trident.
“End this.”
And with that, Aegis moved in.
Ann’s golden form was no match for the fury of Aegis’s strikes.
Aegis’s trident struck Ann’s divine body with brutal force, tearing through stone and energy with savage precision. Each blow ripped apart the god’s once-mighty form, shredding his avatar to pieces.
“Argh!” Ann screamed in agony, his divine light flickering as he faltered.
Then, with one final, earth-shattering strike, Aegis pierced Ann’s chest.
The energy within him imploded.
Ann’s god avatar collapsed into dust.
