Chapter 118: The Continental War (6)
Elian led the human militia straight into the fray. His hyper-dense muscles bulged under his ash-stained tunic as he swung his Star-Iron reinforced Crater-Maker Plow in a wide, horizontal arc.
The agricultural tool snapped the legs of the armored centaurs and shattered their enchanted shields into fragments. The humans fought with terrifying alchemical endurance, bashing fallen knights against the stones and stripping their gear mid-combat.
Gorak threw himself into the center of the Blood-Mage’s berserker infantry. His overlapping bone-plated exoskeleton absorbed the kinetic force of their enchanted maces without taking a scratch.
“ALL HAIL THE SPRIAL!!!”
The Troglodyte Warlord unhinged his jaw, revealing double rows of serrated teeth, and bit clean through a paladin’s steel gorget. He spun around, using his Star-Iron gauntlet to punch a hole straight through a Frost Giant’s frozen sternum, ripping out a chunk of enchanted ice.
Above the chaos, Iron-Scale utilized the vertical space of the canyon walls to hunt the high-value targets. The Kobold Inquisitor fired his Clockwork Grappling Spools into the overhanging cliffs, swinging down through the battlefield like a metallic pendulum.
His dark scales blurred as he extended his scythe, decapitating three cavalrymen in a single fluid motion before grappling back into the cover of the steam vents.
Krug stood at the absolute epicenter of the carnage. The polished steel scales of the Apostle reflected the surrounding slaughter. He raised his recycled iron greataxe high above his head, igniting the weapon with the Violet Flame.
He brought the axe down into the bedrock, sending a shockwave of alchemical fire tearing through the enemy vanguard. The flame actively consumed their offensive magic, turning the Frost Giants into pools of boiling water and burning the blood-magic directly out of the berserkers’ veins.
Up in the Void, the Glacial Sovereign slammed his fists against his console. The Rank 11 and 12 deities watched their elite forces dissolve against Red’s biological war machine. The Forgecaster typed a massive override code into the server interface, seemingly a final, desperate gamble that drained millions of DP from their collective accounts in a fraction of a second.
The physical map fractured violently along the western horizon. The four gods bypassed their conventional armies entirely, deploying their pinnacle creations directly onto the field.
The ground behind the western banks tore open with seismic force. A Glacier Behemoth pulled itself from the frozen earth, a towering mass of blue ice and absolute zero energy that dwarfed the northern peaks.
Beside it, the Forgecaster’s creation emerged from a newly formed crater. The mechanical titan, composed entirely of molten slag and grinding iron gears, radiated furnace heat that incinerated the surrounding trees.
The Zephyr Lord summoned a serpentine dragon of razor-wind, its massive coils completely eclipsing the sky above the battlefield.
The Blood-Mage unleashed a colossal mound of pulsating flesh and thousands of screaming mouths, a biological abomination that crushed the remaining enemy vanguard beneath its sheer weight.
Red rested his chin on his knuckles, watching his primary monitor as the mountain-sized beasts cast long shadows over the Continental Moat.
“Yeah… that’s what I was worried about,” Red let out a sigh.
The scale of the Rank 10 creations defied the standard physics engine.
The Glacier Behemoth took a single step and shattered the bedrock beneath it. The creature froze the boiling Aegis water into a solid block of dark ice just by existing near the shoreline.
The mechanical titan of molten slag burned the surrounding environment, turning the eastern ridges into slick glass under its metallic feet.
The wind dragon coiled in the sky, generating a localized hurricane that ripped Elian’s human militia right off the ground and tossed them into the canyon walls.
The flesh abomination rolled forward like a living avalanche. It absorbed dead paladins and crushed centaurs into its expanding mass, opening thousands of maws to wail across the battlefield.
Red dismissed the tactical overlay and opened the Eastern Alliance master communication node. He pinged the specific visual interfaces of the newly assimilated high-tier gods. These were the deities whose surviving populations still marched across the western plains, desperately trying to reach the safety of the retracted steel bridges.
“The Sovereign has deployed his pinnacle units,” Red transmitted into the shared channel. His voice echoed cleanly over the screaming from the physical map. “Turn your migrating forces around and strike the rear of his army. Pin those creations down.”
The Rank 10 war god glared through the holographic window. He gripped the edges of his console, his knuckles turning white under the pressure. The bright chains of the Vassalage Contract glowed on his interface.
He had no option to refuse the direct military command.
The other vassal gods stared at the creeping wave of gray static devouring the extreme edges of the continental map. The third wave of the Void-Eater was actively gathering momentum in the north. They needed the Sovereign’s army annihilated completely so they could safely cross the moat before the glass-ash storms deleted their remaining citizens.
“We are mobilizing,” the Rank 10 war god grunted. He immediately began typing attack coordinates into his terminal.
Red cut the transmission and leaned back in his obsidian chair. He watched the massive beasts tear into his automated defenses. Old-Shell vented superheated steam into the flesh abomination. The biological mass simply regenerated faster than the thermal shock could burn it.
The level gap presented an absolute numerical wall.
“I could convert the Faith reserves into DP and buy the rank ascension,” Red muttered. He dragged a calculation window across his screen. “I have enough capital to reach Rank 10 right now.”
He tapped his stylus against the desk. Reaching the tenth tier unlocked the Sovereign Pet Creation blueprint. He could forge his own pinnacle beast to counter the Glacial Sovereign. He closed the calculation window a second later.
A newly generated pet spawned at level one. It would require decades of continuous feeding and grinding to reach the sheer mountainous mass of the ancient beasts currently marching across his moat.
He had approximately fifteen days before the Void-Eater consumed the entire hemisphere.
Red let out another long sigh and moved his cursor to the top right corner of his interface. The System icon for his Achievement Tab blinked with a bright golden notification. He had ignored the tab for months to farm as many achievements as he could.
Opening the menu would force the game engine to auto-claim every hoarded milestone, triggering an instantaneous and irreversible rank ascension.
“I guess sandbagging is over,” Red said to the empty Void. He dragged the cursor over the blinking icon. “Time to catch up.”
