Chapter 75: New Divinity Trait
[ 1x DIVINITY TRAIT TICKET ACQUIRED ]
A small, physical object materialized from the interface and dropped into Red’s shadowy palm. It was a rectangular ticket made of a strange, indestructible crystal that shifted colors in the dim light of the Void.
In the System, Divinity Traits were the fundamental rules that governed a God’s existence. Aurelius had possessed the Divine Share, allowing him to pump his own DP directly into his Paladins. Red’s initial SSS-Rank trait, the 100x Multiplier, was the only reason he had survived the mud. Earning a second trait was an astronomical leap in power.
Red closed his spectral fingers around the crystal. With this, he could gain another trait that would make him even stronger, but he couldn’t select the trait according to his will.
“System. Redeem.”
The crystal shattered into a cloud of glowing, microscopic runes. The Void darkened as a massive roulette of ancient, glowing text began to spin rapidly in the air before him. The runes blurred, shifting from gray to green, then to a deep, burning gold, and finally settling on a brilliant, blinding crimson.
The runes locked into place, sinking directly into Red’s shadowy avatar.
[ A RANK TRAIT ACQUIRED: THE OMNISCIENT EYE ]
[ DESCRIPTION: The absolute authority of perception. Grants the user the ability to view the exact System statistics, status ailments, hidden traits, and numerical values of any entity within their sight. ]
Red felt a sharp, burning sensation behind his featureless visage. The violet glow of his eyes flared, casting a harsh, dissecting light across the Void.
It was a normal trait, which wasn’t beneficial, but it was useful in some cases. A God could only watch over their territory or the land they rule on. To see the status and stats of another being, one would need either to send their followers to another land and encounter someone, or someone would need to enter their territory.
It was most useful during wars and battles, where opponents had gathered in once place.
However, Red had Omni-Web root network that fed him sensory details.
Thus, the trait not only binded to his avatar, it reacted to the pulsing energy of his newly upgraded obsidian console. The violet veins running through the stone terminal flared to life, syncing the Omniscient Eye directly with the Omni-Web root network spread across the continent.
Red stepped up to the console and looked down at the holographic map.
Previously, the Omni-Web had functioned purely on seismic feedback and mana vibrations. It was a topographical map with glowing dots that told him where
things were, but not what they were.
To see his own followers, he had to use a localized camera feed on another screen.
Now, the map had evolved into something utterly terrifying.
The map itself remained a massive, glowing grid of topography, but as Red hovered his hand over a cluster of dots in the deep swamp, the interface reacted. A cascade of holographic text dropped down beside a specific dot representing Gorak.
[ NAME: GORAK ][ RACE: TROGLODYTE WARLORD (TIER 3) ]
[ HP: 4,500 / 4,500 ]
[ STR: 185 | AGI: 45 | VIT: 210 ]
[ TRAITS: SUBTERRANEAN HIDE (PASSIVE), BLUNT WEAPON MASTERY (LV. 6) ]
[ STATUS: FATIGUED, TRIUMPHANT ]
Red blinked. He swiped his hand across the map, moving his focus away from his own territory and panning south, toward the smoldering ashes of the ancient forest.
He found a flickering, weak green dot hiding in a blackened grove. He focused his Omniscient Eye through the Omni-Web roots buried beneath the ash.
[ NAME: THE ROTTING DRUID ]
[ RANK: 4 (LESSER DEITY) ]
[ DP: 540,200 ]
[ FAITH: DROPPING ]
[ ACTIVE FOLLOWERS: 1,784 ]
[ STATUS: EXTREME PANIC ]
[ TRAITS: FUNGAL ASSIMILATION, WOODLAND DECAY ]
Red leaned over the obsidian console, his hands gripping the cold stone edges.
The fog of war was completely gone. Now, he not only knew where his enemies were standing, he also knew exactly how much Divine Power they had left in their reserves before they De-ranked. He knew their physical limits, their hidden abilities, and their exact follower counts. If a rival God was bluffing about their strength, Red would see the mathematical truth floating right above their head.
He possessed absolute informational supremacy.
“Knowledge is power, indeed” Red whispered.
He focused his gaze on the assembly.
[ EXPEDITIONARY FORCE DETECTED ]
-Troglodytes (Heavy Infantry): 50
– Shell-Kin (Armored Vanguard/Transport): 10
– Grey-Fins (Amphibious Stalkers): 30
– Kobolds (Scouts/Crossbowmen): 20
[ TOTAL UNITS: 110 ]
[ AVERAGE MORALE: MAXIMUM (ZEALOUS) ]
It was a fraction of his army, marching across the Dead-Lands to claim a city that still held fourteen thousand grieving humans. Before, Red might have worried about a civilian uprising. But now, with the Omniscient Eye, he could see the exact status of the Sun Spire’s populace miles away.
[ STATUS: MANA-STARVED, DESPAIRING, UNARMED ]
Down at the soot-stained western gates of Bastion, the heat of the forges pushed back the chill of the swamp.
Iron-Scale stood at the front of the column. The Kobold Inquisitor had wiped the mud from his leather armor, his Star-Iron cane resting lightly in the ash. He adjusted his quartz monocle, his slitted yellow eyes scanning the one hundred and ten hardened survivors chosen for the march.
They were battered, covered in the blood of Paladins and the black tar of the swamp, but their eyes burned with the fanatical light of the Violet Flame.
Beside the Inquisitor, Warlord Gorak rested his massive, cracked hammer on his broad shoulder. Fifty Troglodytes stood behind him in absolute, rigid silence, their gray muscles coiled like springs.
Behind the infantry, ten massive Shell-Kin grumbled low in their throats. Their broad, rocky shells had been laden with supplies, extra Star-Iron chains, and the heavy banners of the Spiral. Flanking them in the shadows were thirty Grey-Fins. While twenty Kobold scouts skittered along the perimeter with crossbows loaded with armor-piercing bolts.
Iron-Scale struck his cane against the stone earth. The sharp CRACK instantly silenced the low murmurs of the troops.
“The False Sun has fallen,” Iron-Scale hissed, his raspy voice carrying over the hissing steam of the city’s vents. “His golden towers are cracking. His people sit in the dark, crying out to a sky that has forgotten their names.”
The Inquisitor pointed his black stiletto straight out into the fog-choked expanse of the Dead-Lands, pointing West toward the crumbling Sun Spire.
“The Ka-Lam-Tee has claimed their earth. We are his hands. We go to pull down their rusted idols and drag them into the shadow of the Spiral.” Iron-Scale bared his needle-like teeth in a chilling smile. “Show them the mercy of the iron.”
Gorak raised his massive hammer to the sky and let out a deafening, guttural roar.
“FOR THE SPIRAL!” the Troglodyte bellowed.
The roar was echoed by a hundred monstrous throats, a terrifying sound of absolute victory that shook the stagnant water of the bogs.
Without another word, the massive Shell-Kin began to march, their heavy steps shaking the ground. The Troglodytes fell into a disciplined stride, their boots carving deep tracks into the ash. The Grey-Fins and Kobolds melted seamlessly into the surrounding gloom, moving like phantoms alongside the main column.
High above in the Void, Red watched his expeditionary force step past the outer barricades and vanish into the dense, toxic fog of the Dead-Lands.
The war for survival was over. And the era of conquest had officially begun.
