Chapter 91: Healer’s Flame vs Bloody Flesh (3)
Water burst from the scroll with tremendous pressure, launching Ebony through the air across the room and straight through the glass in the hallway.
Ebony ended up falling from the second floor directly into the backyard. She was soaked and burned by the boiling water, and she barely endured the shock long enough to pronounce her spell.
“He… heal…” the girl shouted with difficulty, struggling to breathe while feeling every inch of her skin burning.
{{Life Magic: H▨alin▞}}
The girl’s body glowed as the burns began to fade, but this time it was different from the others, because her magic was running out. The light still responded, but no longer with the clean speed it had before, and that only made things worse.
Ebony tried to stand, but her head kept spinning while her body felt weaker and weaker. Despite the surge of adrenaline from the pain, now that she was fully healed, that adrenaline was beginning to fade.
The yard, the wall, and the shadows of the mansion seemed to sway from side to side, as if everything were spinning around her.
In an attempt to survive, the blonde searched the ground for broken glass. Grabbing a large shard with a sharp point, she tore a piece of her clothing, wrapped her hand, and gripped the shard. It wasn’t a real weapon, but it would serve its purpose.
“(This isn’t over yet, you bastard… I’m not dying that easily. I still have enough magic for a couple of heals or a few Purifying Flame hits… If I can get close, I might win… I just need to get close…
)” the blonde thought.
Ebony tried to focus to sense the vital presence of her enemy. However, her senses only kept dulling. The poison, the pain, and the drain on her magic were making her slow, clumsy, and far blinder than she liked.
“Interesting,” the assassin said from the window while carrying the body of the fake Lucian. His voice drifted down from above with an irritating calm, as if the scene in the yard were merely a curious observation for him.
“That fire you used is capable of burning my spell inside people. Something like that isn’t simple, not even for the best Healers. But what’s most curious is that the magical energy inside the body was also disturbed, as if it had tried to escape.”
“And what the hell does all that mean? Are you writing a book?” the blonde said. Even battered and half-boiled, she still had enough spirit left to answer with a scowl and a foul mood, clinging to her sarcasm like it was another weapon.
“Ignorant woman, it means your ability could evolve until it can burn the magic inside people. An ability capable of burning mana is something unusual and very dangerous.”
The assassin jumped from the window and landed on the grass, still carrying the body of the fake Lucian. He landed lightly, without the slightest visible effort, like someone far too comfortable among corpses, traps, and other people’s blood.
“And considering you can heal your own wounds using Healer magic, I assume your trait is broken. Therefore, you are a Visitor from another world.”
The assassin injected reddish magic into the dying body he carried over his shoulder. The energy sank into the nearly dead flesh with a sickening smoothness, as if it already knew the exact path it needed to follow.
“It’s a shame you figured it out… Now I’ll have to kill you, huh,” the blonde said with a tired smile. It wasn’t loud, but it was clear enough to show she still had no intention of surrendering.
“How brave you are, woman… But honestly, thank you. This makes everything easier. The original plan was to make it look like Kanary Melian’s most loyal butler went mad and killed everyone in the mansion. After all, his own daughter died because of her.”
The assassin dropped the body he was carrying onto the ground. He let it fall like a worthless sack, confident he no longer needed to carry it since the next part of the plan was ready.
“But now we’ll say that we heard a disturbance in the mansion and came to help. It turns out a Visitor had descended and slaughtered everyone. That way we can even be hailed as heroes of the kingdom, hahaha.”
The body of the fake Lucian rose from the ground while the assassin’s fingertips glowed with his magic. The movement was stiff, rigid, and unnatural, just like everything that bastard touched with his blood magic.
He extended his hand and his puppet ran forward to attack the blonde. There was no pause or hesitation; the body obeyed as if it were still alive, charging straight at her with the sole purpose of grabbing her.
Ebony tried to dodge, but her legs no longer responded. Her body failed her at the worst possible moment, and that small delay was enough to leave her exposed before an enemy that didn’t need to tire or feel fear.
With no other option, she responded by cutting her attacker’s throat. The improvised shard opened the flesh in a quick, desperate, messy motion, trying to at least stop him for a second.
But the body felt no pain or fear and kept moving forward, wrapping her in a crushing embrace. The puppet’s arms closed around her with brutal strength, pressing her against it as if trying to fuse her into that flesh.
“Coagulate,” the assassin shouted with a mocking tone while pointing his open palm at the blonde.

The puppet’s body began to deform. Its muscles tore and its bones snapped. Every sound was too close, too wet, too alive, as if Ebony had been trapped inside a nightmare of flesh.
Within seconds the flesh began to wrap around Ebony, forming a bloody cocoon where a face appeared on one side. The structure closed around her quickly, sealing out both light and air.
The blonde tried to break free with a strike, but flesh and bone surrounded every part of her body. It was like being caught and wrapped by a spider. The more she struggled, the more she felt the prison tightening around her.
Unable to free herself with her weakened body, unable to breathe through the flesh and blood surrounding her, she tried to think one last time. The pain in her chest, the dizziness, and the lack of air began to blend together until even forming thoughts became difficult.
“(I can’t die here… I can’t… I have to do something… Damn it… fucking Lucian, where the hell are you when I need you?)”
At that moment, when her lungs no longer felt oxygen flowing, a door suddenly opened. The sound came from the mansion like an absurd interruption, almost out of place, just as everything was closing in around her.
Daniel stepped out of the mansion with his twin axes in each hand. He looked half asleep but ready to fight, as if he had just woken up with a streak of drool at the corner of his mouth.
“I heard some noise… what the hell is going on here?” the young man said, holding back a yawn while looking around the place with tired eyes.
