She turned in a slow circle, examining her own hands with the focused curiosity.

“I can also transform at will,” she said, more to herself than to him, testing the statement against the reality of it.

Her form shifted, contracting and reshaping in the space of a breath back into the double edged black sword with its draconic winged hilt, the chaotic energy now burning considerably brighter and more aggressively than it had before the upgrade.

Then she expanded back out into her spirit form just as quickly.

“Yes. That works very well.”

“Good,” Adonis said. He looked at the status information still hovering at the edge of his awareness and read through it carefully.

“Master,” Vexa said, watching his face with those burning eyes. “You have that kind of expression.”

“What kind of expression?” he asked.

“The one that means someone is about to have a very bad day and does not know it yet.”

He looked at her.

She smiled again, bright and absolutely unrepentant.

“I gave you that trait specifically,” she said. “I had thirteen upgrade cycles worth of accumulated potential and I chose that one above everything else available to me because I have been watching you fight for long enough to understand how your mind works. You do not need more raw power, Master. You have catastrophic raw power. What you need is leverage.”

“So, you thought about this, huh,” he said, amused.

“Yes, I think about everything,” Vexa replied. “I am your sword soul. Thinking about how to make you unstoppable is the entirety of my purpose and I take it very seriously.”

He looked at her, this living fire spirit built from the accumulated Harem Force of the women who had chosen him and the chaos energy that ran through his blood, and felt something that he did not often feel when evaluating new capabilities.

Genuine surprise.

“Why don’t yoy test it yourself, master?” Vexa urged, nodding toward the small potted plant sitting on the windowsill of the room.

Adonis looked at it. Reached toward the trait with his focus, then pushed.

The plant instantly started expanding

It did not grow in the way plants grew, slowly and with the biological patience of living things adding themselves incrementally to the world.

It simply became larger, all at once.

He released the focus.

The plant immediately stopped growing. But it did remain on the increase size.

It now filled most of the upper half of the room, its enormous leaves pressing against the ceiling and window frame.

“The maid is going to be upset about this,” he commented.

“That she will.”

The Chaos was expanding, and there is no one to stop it.
