“It worked! It actually worked!” Adam thought, euphoric. He wasn’t doomed to be a cripple. The system, for all its cruelty, had a built-in mercy for those who could keep climbing.

He allocated his new Skill Point to Crystal Shard Shot, bringing it to Level 2. It was a celebration of the strategy that had saved them.
