Chapter 105: The match begins

Two people faced each other as the crowd made noise, the announcement went off explaining the rules.

The matches at Halekuwait had begun. The stands were packed and Masamune was there as well.

But Nem was OK, other than the numbness running through her body.

Nem began her attack.

Nem shot her fireball and Kevin countered with his spear, the magic collided in between them and exploded. Nem sent another to the side and Kevin countered again. Kevin summoned another spear but Nem was faster and he was struck by the fireball. Hed tried to dodge it but he was overweight and couldnt get out of the way in time.

Gyaaaaaaa!

Protection magic was layered over the field to prevent serious injury and it put the fire out. Kevin was still able to fight but instead of being vigilant his face looked scared.

Nem follows up having already summoned the fireballs back and she fired them all at the same time.

Kevin barely had time to think, he summoned his spears back and crossed then in front of his body to defend. The fireballs crashed against the spears but they werent meant to be used in defense and they couldnt with stand the attack. His spears broke and all three fireballs crashed into him.

Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Cheers and groans could be heard from the audience. Kevin barely held onto his consciousness.

Nem wants you to surrender!

The match should have already been decided but Kevin was grinning for some reason.

Kevin was trying to figure out a way to win but couldnt think of a way to reverse the situation. However he had a plan in case this happened.

Kevin stuck his hand in his pocket with an evil grin as Nem watched him confused. And what he pulled out was

Silver vine.

Its a great threat to younger cat people, just the smell can make them dizzy. Of course as they get older the effects decrease and even disappear but Nem was still just a kid.

This wasnt considered a foul but it was still a cowardly move. Kevin knew he would be called a coward for doing it but he was willing to accept that, putting victory ahead of everything.

He looked down at the silver vine then back at Nem who was alert.

This is my win.

Kevin was convinced of his win and went to throw the silvervine at Nem but his movement was stopped. He looked at it not understanding.

Huh?..

The silver vine that should have been in his hand had disappeared without a trace. Even more mysterious was that the smell of it was gone from his hands as well. He sniffed them to be sure and looked down to see if hed dropped it. The audience laughed as he crawled around looking for it but it was gone.

What are you doing?

Nem asked a simple question but Kevin couldnt answer, at this point he wasnt sure himself.

If you dont surrender I will force you.

W- wait! Ill surrender!

Kevin said quickly.

The winner is Nem!

Cheers rose up at the announcement. Kevin left the venue still doubting his defeat.

Nem looks up at the three watching her from the stands and gives a peace sign. Toa and Sufilia hold up their own peace signs but Masamune just smiled. Toa whispered angrily telling him to give her a peace sign back but he just said it was the obvious outcome. And she relaxed as he smiled.

But in reality, no one knew this but on Masamunes left hand were traces of his red-black magic power.
