“Not only that, if you had noticed, when the maid mentioned Jeffrey’s name, he looked calm and gave out too practiced a surprise.” Lana continued. “All in all, this was one of the most complicated cases I have ever encountered till now.”

“This… this isn’t just complicated,” Mr. Crow muttered. “It’s rotten to the core.”

The car moved smoothly along the dimly lit road, streetlights flashing past the windshield in steady intervals. Shadows stretched and shrank across Lana’s face, but her expression remained calm, almost indifferent.

’Evil wrapped in excuses always thinks it’s justified,’ she thought.

“He built layers upon layers of protection,” Lana continued, her tone even. “Money, power, formations, witnesses, lies. But he forgot one thing.”

Mr. Crow leaned forward instinctively. “What?”

“Karma doesn’t need permission,” she replied softly. “And he would be facing now.”

Just as Lana had predicted, far away from her and back inside the mansion, George stood alone in the dimly lit living room.

The air smelled faintly of alcohol and old wood, heavy and suffocating. He poured himself a glass of wine with steady hands and muttered under his breath,

“Finally… both bitches have been dealt with.”

The deep red liquid swirled inside the glass as he lifted it. He didn’t savor it.

Instead, he swallowed it in one rough gulp, the burn sliding down his throat. With a quiet clink, he placed the empty glass aside and leaned back against the sofa, his thoughts drifting into darker corners.

’I’ll need to find another woman,’ he thought impatiently. ’Lately, it’s becoming unbearable.’

The moment that thought surfaced, an image flashed through his mind, his granddaughter. The one he had been using for the past five months. His lips clicked in irritation, his jaw tightening.

’If only that girl hadn’t died so early,’ he thought coldly.

A slow breath escaped him as regret flickered briefly through his chest, not remorse, but annoyance.

’If I had known she would die so soon, I would’ve done everything faster.’ His gaze shifted toward the sofa where her body lay motionless, covered neatly as if she were merely sleeping.

Greed seeped into his eyes.

’Her soul is gone now,’ he reassured himself. ’That girl Lana exorcised it.’ He straightened, his breathing growing uneven. ’There’s nothing wrong with using what’s left.’

He stood up and walked toward the body.

Suddenly, the body twitched.

George froze mid-step. His heart slammed violently against his ribs as he stumbled backward. The lights overhead flickered erratically, casting warped shadows across the walls.

“What… what’s going on?” he whispered, fear finally creeping into his voice.

Panic surged through him. He fumbled for his phone, the same one where he had left Lana a glowing five-star review.

His fingers shook as he tried to delete it, desperation clawing at his chest. ’If I erase it, maybe she’ll come back,’ he thought wildly.

Before he could touch the screen, the phone ripped itself from his hand and smashed violently against the floor.

George gasped.

“No!”

He rushed forward, but the phone suddenly flew again, slamming into the wall with brutal force. This time, it shattered completely, reduced to twisted metal and broken glass.

George staggered back, terror flooding his face. His breathing became shallow as he spun around, his eyes darting wildly.

Then a soft voice echoed through the room, chilling and intimate.

“Are you enjoying your life?”

His blood ran cold.

“Do you really have no shame… thinking of doing something so filthy to your own granddaughter’s body?”

George screamed and whipped around. “You… you didn’t leave!” His voice cracked. “That’s impossible! She exorcised you!”

Laughter rang out, clear, hollow, and distorted.

The next instant, an invisible force yanked him upward. His body slammed violently against the ceiling, pain exploding through his spine as a scream tore from his throat.

Before he could even gasp, he was dropped mercilessly to the floor. Blood streamed down his face, splattering against the tiles.
