“The only way we can get a replacement vehicle is by contacting headquarters and requesting a backup unit. Since it’s already night, we thought it would be unsafe to stay outside.”

She smiled politely.

“So we were hoping you might allow us to stay here for the night.”

Daniel leaned back slightly in his chair.

Then he gave a small smile.

“That won’t be a problem. You can stay here tonight.”

Once everything had been settled, Lana casually glanced toward Jenny.

Then she pointed lightly in her direction. “Grandpa… who is she?”

Daniel followed Lana’s gaze and gave Jenny a brief indifferent look before turning back to Lana with a smile.

“Oh, her?”

He waved his hand dismissively.

“She’s just the daughter of one of the maids.”
