The creature launched itself into the air, raising its hammer for another heavy vertical strike. It roared louder, white smoke billowing from inside the helmet.

The boss turned slowly to the right. Daniel’s eyes squeezed shut. Stones and glowing shards rained down from above.

Daniel immediately opened his eyes and saw the black-hooded person carrying him in his arms. He gently set Daniel on the ground and placed a flask beside him.

The boss charged again at full speed, its hammer dragging along the ground, eyes burning crimson. But the man stood firm, his movements calm and steady.

Then he lowered his body, clenched his right hand into a fist, and unleashed a fire blast shaped like a fist straight at its face.

The fireball exploded on impact, spreading in a wide cone that forced it to step back five paces. Sparks flew as the metal helmet cracked under the blow.

Daniel glanced at the flask beside him, the red liquid inside catching the light.

It was a small, palm-sized glass flask, round and sealed with a cork. The red liquid inside shimmered ominously, like it could burn through anything.

Daniel carefully extended his right arm, grabbed the flask, and brought it to his mouth. He uncorked it and drained every last drop in one go.

He was thirsty, after all.

Suddenly, his body began warming rapidly, as if his blood were rushing faster through his veins. His breathing steadied, and his dislocated left arm slowly began to set itself.

The scratches from the fight gradually closed, and the blood streaming from his forehead eased, slowing to a stop.

Daniel was healing, slowly but steadily, his eyes fixed on the black-hooded man as he hurled fireballs again and again and again.
