Originally, she’d thought of giving him money as a birthday gift… but that felt cheap and impersonal. A meal felt warmer.

“What do you want to eat?” Kitazawa smiled, patting her head.

“I… I’m treating! What does Sensei want to eat?” she asked, eyes shining.

“Me? Hmm… I’ve always liked grilled meat.”
