Shion steadied herself and spoke.

“I don’t know,” Shion admitted. “I didn’t see your death. The vision stopped after the trees appeared.”

“I didn’t die…?”

Hope burst across Suhō’s face. “Priestess—maybe this time really will be different!”

Shion slowly clutched the small bell at her chest—her mother Miroku’s keepsake.

Trees… Why trees?

Could this really mean…

that she wouldn’t have to sacrifice her life to seal Mōryō?
