Kitazawa shrugged. “I don’t take threats lightly.”

“You’re planning to act?” Her eyes narrowed. “That’s dangerous. You know memories can be extracted even after death.”

Mt. Tanuki wasn’t far—still within the Land of Fire. Even if Mizuki managed to hire rogue ninja, finding a Jonin-level one on short notice was unlikely.

And even if he did… unless it was someone like Kakuzu, they wouldn’t stand a chance.

“Alright then,” Kurenai said softly. “I’ll wait for you to come back.”

Kitazawa leaned in, kissed her again, and with a light wave—he turned and walked away.

Panic surged through the remaining bandits.

Once it was done, Kitazawa turned his gaze to Mizuki, who was still dueling the second Chunin bandit leader. He had the upper hand.

Kitazawa didn’t intervene. Instead, he sat down to recover, pretending he had drained his chakra.

Minutes later, Mizuki walked over, face slightly flushed with victory.

“You alright?”

“Just a little chakra depletion,” Kitazawa said, standing. “Mission complete. Let’s return.”

“Return?” Mizuki scoffed. His expression twisted. “Kitazawa, you’re not going anywhere.”

Kitazawa frowned. “What are you talking about?”

“Don’t play dumb!” Mizuki snarled. “You stole my Best Teacher title! Took my reward! And your class ruined my reputation in the match! You think you get to walk free?!”

Kitazawa’s gaze sharpened. “Are you questioning the Hokage’s judgment?”

“That old fool? He’s half-blind!” Mizuki spat.

’Perfect,’ Kitazawa thought. ’That’s the kind of treason that clears me of any suspicion.’

“I’m a Special Jonin now,” Kitazawa said, tone warning.

“Ha! A backdoor promotion!” Mizuki sneered.

Kitazawa’s lips twitched.

“But out of old times’ sake,” Mizuki continued, smirking, “I invited a couple of friends. Come on out!”

Two figures landed beside him—both Chunin-level.

“Still think you have a chance?” Mizuki grinned. “Kill him!”

The two lunged, blades drawn.

Leaves rustled.

Their blades met air.

“Where—?!”

’Wind Release: Violent Wind Palm!’

A powerful gust surged from Kitazawa’s palms, crashing into the ambushers like a tidal wave.

“Scatter!” Mizuki shouted, stumbling back.

Kitazawa appeared out of nowhere, his kick slamming into Mizuki.

Mizuki barely blocked in time, skidding backward—right to the cliff’s edge.

Then he froze. His pupils shrank in horror.

“Y-You… how do you—Rasen—?!”

Rasengan!

Kitazawa vanished again and reappeared before him, slamming the spinning chakra sphere into Mizuki’s chest.

“AHH!”

Mizuki screamed as he staggered and tumbled off the cliff.

Kitazawa stood motionless, watching his fall.

The System’s mission had been to imprison him. But Kitazawa decided not to leave threats alive—especially not for the sake of a Fire Release Jutsu.

Besides, he wanted to test the system’s claim that failure wouldn’t result in punishment.

Rather than hide the body, he’d let Konoha find it. That would be the proof he needed to appear innocent. Mizuki’s own words would bury him.
