Chapter 144: Anger is Love! Death is Life! Blood is Glory!
Chapter 144: Anger is Love! Death is Life! Blood is Glory!
A blue mountain of muscle leapt down from the hole in the ceiling.
When Fury landed, she easily cracked the ground beneath her feet into a spiderweb-shaped pattern.
Her grin was as wide and malicious as ever, and the reaction that Jiaoying’s children had upon seeing her was not insignificant.
Luckily, the greater being had far bigger fish to fry.
“Delightful! You have no idea how bored I’ve been! Watching that girl wait around moping for those two, slogging through papers, giving belly rubs to that adorable little mutt..!”
Fury stretched her body. Her scantily clad armor did a poor job of concealing the signs of womanhood that she was so proud of.
“Ah… That’s all well and good for those weak types. But women of my ilk usually have different appetites.”
In an instant, Fury was upon Abel.
She raised her club-like arm and used it like a battering ram, slamming it into the old man’s side as a return for the blow that had woken her up.
To his credit, Abel did manage to block some of the damage. But that did very little to prevent him from flying toward the wall.
At the last moment, he pivoted his body so that his feet were pressed against the wall and his knees were bent.
Concentrating power into his legs, he shot off the surface like it was a springboard.
When he drew his weapon from its scabbard, an arc of light followed the path of his airborne slash.
Time seemed to slow down.
Abel watched with great shock as fury turned around before vaulting in the air over the attack, and him.
As their bodies slowly lined up, one above the other in mid-air, Fury rotated her body so that she was staring down at the old man again.
Her axe appeared in her hand, even more demented and ominous-looking than before.
Smiling sinisterly, Fury poised her scythe for a cross-body slash that would have cut Jiaoying’s master in two without a shred of resistance.
But the old man had hardly lived as long as he had by allowing the agility and violence of his opponent to surprise him.
Once again, the ringing of metal reverberated through the room as Abel raised his sword to block her malicious maneuver.
With two great swordsmen, nearly at the peak of their power and locked in a full struggle, the surroundings were hardly adequate.
There was a large explosion as gold and red light blew the dining room apart. The entire east wall crumbled all at once, and sunlight poured in from outside. The hole above the dining room had suddenly widened, and it was as if the entire second floor were going to come down at any minute.
Abel was lying on his back in a small crater, his clothes disheveled and dusty, but his body seemingly uninjured.
Well, aside from the barely noticeable signs of fatigue. Abel was not a young man anymore. And Violet Core, he may have been, it was still a bit difficult for him to try so hard to keep Fury at bay while simultaneously trying to calm her down and protect the Dean.
Though it seemed he could retire the need to protect the Dean. Fury seemed solely focused on him.
She dusted herself off, cracking her neck casually as she grinned.
“Don’t tell me you’re down and out already, you wet noodle. I never get to run around and play anymore since she started fucking those two.” Fury spat. “Not that I don’t get it though. I wouldn’t mind sampling those goods for myself.”
Instructor Abel slowly got to his feet.
“Xu… if you’re in there, it’s not too late to stop this.”
“Falling on deaf ears, old man.”
“You’re stronger than her! You know your master’s heart! Rest control from that animal and let us try to talk this out!”
“I gotta pee… I don’t know if I remember how though. I haven’t used this thing in-”
“I will have no choice but to subdue you, Xu Jiaoying! Is that what you want?! Because you aren’t strong enough to take back control?!”
Fury started to speak when all of a sudden, something interesting caught her eye.
Master Abel noticed it as well in the form of energy waves rustling the air. He scoured for the source and was completely shocked by what he found.
“I hate to be rude, but… I really loved this house…!”
Slowly, Liora was hovering off the ground, her wheelchair humming with a brilliant azure light.
The wheels of her support snapped out of place, repositioning themselves into seemingly flat disks.
They gained speed as they rotated, keeping her airborne while the blue crystals across her chair lit up with power.
Liora bent her brows into an unusually fierce scowl. It did not seem to fit her perfectly adorable face even in the slightest.
“I don’t know who you are… but you’re delusional if you think I’m going to let you hurt my mother..!”
Blue sigils appeared at the head of every crystal. They fired concentrated beams of magical energy.
The magic beams superheated the air as they came down relentlessly.
Abel spun his sword at a speed that was dizzying to the eye. He twirled his blade gracefully, deflecting the constant stream of attacks that came his way.
Fury’s eyes sparkled as she brought her hands to her chest, swooning.
“Aww, are you protecting me, sugar lump? That’s so sweet of you, even after that bit of-”
A stray beam fell between Fury’s feet.
Liora glared down at her hatefully.
“You… You are not my mom. Y-You’re a thing like a gray hair or a hemorrhoid! And if you dare to speak to me so casually again, then the old man will not be the only one to feel my anger!”
Fury let out a low whistle as she put her hands down.
“Wow, tough crowd… You have one little blackout incident and it gets held over your head for the rest of time. Humans are so prone to grudges… I like that about them!” Fury held up both thumbs in approval.
No matter how much she tried, she didn’t get any other reaction out of Liora. Her disappointment was immense.
But Fury was an entity who, even when she had nothing to do, would always find some way to occupy her time.
She grew bored with the old man quickly. How interesting could he really have been if he was being held at bay by a cripple of all things?
No, what she needed was an actual challenge. Something to make her mouth water and set her loins ablaze all we once.
Her eyes naturally fell on Raidis. Fury sifted through Jiaoying’s memories and found the instance where Yari, terrified out of her mind, had claimed that she could not best him.
“I do so despise things being blown out of proportion… Let’s find out if you’re the same!”
Fury took a step forward.
“Ugh… You all… make it really hard for a guy to get some sleep, you know..?”
Somehow, the new voice was able to cut through all of the noise in the fighting grounds.
Everyone naturally turned to its source, finding a young man in sleep pants. He held a small, three-headed pup in one hand, and a sheathed sword in the other.
“She doesn’t usually come get me for just anything, so I knew it had to be something big, but this… A little out of my expectations.. Man, just how hard was I sleeping…?”
The young man was breathtaking.
He was a chiseled and slender 7’5 of pure muscle. His body was wrapped in a layer of olive colored skin, contrasting perfectly with the stark white hair that fell well below his waistline.
His almond-shaped eyes were deeply familiar, though no one at present could have possibly known that.
He pushed his hair out of his hand with a single, smooth motion.
“Now, just so I can have some clarification before I get to work… Who’re the bad guys exactly?”
