Chapter 88: Jiaoying Against An Immortal
Jiaoying’s body is enveloped by fire.
It is a swirling, bright red column that shoots into the night sky and nearly returns it to day.
The horses nearby quickly flee, and Solomon cannot say he blames them.
His body is also telling him to run and hide.
Jiaoying’s aura is suffocating. The heat she gives off is calamitous.
When the column of flame is dispersed, and she is revealed, Solomon feels his breath leave him for the second time in his life.
She is a statue of a woman.
She stands 7’4 at the very least, with muscles so perfect that they look like they were chiseled from marble. Her blue skin is a soft, midnight color, with patches of what appear to be scales dotting her legs and biceps.
Her hair has grown out dramatically and turned an ominous black color. Her ears have lengthened and become sharp, like an elf’s.
A pair of dark horns curls out of her head and points toward her back. Their glossy sheen and sharpness make them look like weapons of pure obsidian.
The tusks that jut past her lips are sharp, white, and horrific. At first glance, she appears to be an orc, but the tail that swishes behind her back quashes that theory.
Her armor can barely be called that. She wears a bejeweled leather chestplate that holds her breasts in place, in addition to a single shoulder pauldron depicting a horned creature.
Her red skirt is adorned with the same gold and rubies that decorate the rest of her armor.
A single tiara wraps around her forehead, with a glowing red gem in the center.
Her sword is no more. Instead, it has become a large axe with an ominous, infernal glow.
Gripping her axe, she turns her head to the sky and releases a deep, throaty battle cry from the depths of her very soul.
It causes the very ground they stand upon to rumble as if a quake has ensued.
Gorgon’s gaze has changed. Her eyes glow a deep red, and she digs her claws into the ground in anger.
“Fury…!”
Jiaoying turns back to her with a smile of sadistic glee.
“You know us! Have we killed someone you loved before?”
The ground underneath Gorgon boils as her aura superheats the rock.
“RAVA!”
At the same time, Rava and Gorgon rush forward.
The air cracks when they move through it. The pair is so damned fast that Solomon cannot even hope to follow their movements.
In an instant, they are upon Jiaoying.
Claws raised, they swipe to cut her to shreds from both sides.
She raises her axe hand to block Rava. Then, with the other hand, she summons a shield to stave off Gorgon.
When the first collision ensues, the ground underneath them instantly cracks.
The crack spreads along the rumbling mountain, and the entire thing begins to come down like a house of cards.
And yet, the three never stop fighting.
Gorgon’s hair stretches and balloons, just as it did with the giant.
The serpents in her hair go right over Jiaoying’s defenses and lunge at her from above.
Jiaoying rolls out of the way, causing the snakes to rush headfirst into the crumbling mountainside.
The entire mountain has already begun to come down. The flat peak the fighters were standing on is now rendered sideways as it falls.
Out of the corner of her eye, Jiaoying sees Solomon with his sword buried in the ground, his body flapping like a blanket in the wind.
Her lips curl in amusement as she stands upright, unencumbered by gravity.
“Ha! Do not blow away, handsome! I want you available to sate my hunger after my victory!”
“Arrogant little whore!”
Gorgon lunges at Jiaoying again, her knee sailing directly into her face.
Jiaoying’s head snaps back, blood flying from her nose.
Before the blood can even git the ground, Gorgon grabs her by the hair and punches her in the face three times in quick succession.
Shifting her grip, she grabs Jiaoying by the horn and hurls her into the air.
Rava finally succeeds in his attack, biting into her midsection and earning a roar of pain from her.
Though it quickly turns into something else.
“AGHHHH~ Ahh, yes, that’s what I wanted!! Let me return the favor, kitty!”
Jiaoying bites down into the fur on the side of Rava’s neck.
The creature’s eyes go wide, and Gorgon can hear her familiar’s pain.
“No, my baby!” Gorgon creates a golden lance out of her armor.
She hurls the weapon at Jiaoying, and the weapon easily cuts through the soundbarrier.
In the infinitesimally small second before she is pierced, Jiaoying knows that she cannot avoid the weapon coming to strike her. Not with Rava still biting into her midsection.
But she could always make Gorgon regret throwing it.
“Here, kitty-kitty!”
Grabbing hold of Rava’s wing, Jiaoying pulls it at an awkward angle so that it shields her body.
When the spear connects, it goes through Rava first. It pierces his wing, goes through Jiaoying’s shoulder, and staples them both to a piece of falling rock.
Rava roars in pain, and he finally releases Jiaoying.
“NO!”
“Yes!”
Jiaoying reaches for the spear that is keeping her pinned and rips it out of her arm.
Once it is removed, she hefts her axe into one hand and buries the edge into the side of Rava’s body.
The wound is deep, and blood spills in a free fall.
Before Jiaoying can properly separate herself from him, the mountain crashes into the ground.
The blue being is flung into a shallow lake of green, stinking water.
She sneers as she begins to lift herself out of it, her disgust palpable.
“Ugh… I’ve always hated this damned stinkpit of a realm- Oh, shit.”
After seeing an attack coming in the water’s reflection, Jiaoying rolls out of the way just as an enormous mound of rock crashes into the place she once lay.
Three more rocks strike the lakebed, each one bigger than the last.
Jiaoying finally scrambles to her feet, and when she does, she raises her axe in the air and swings it right down the middle of the rock.
It splits open as easily as a block of butter, and the fragments fall on either side of her.
“I don’t understand why you’re so upset… Hounds are the superior pet anyway!”
Floating high above the lake bed is an ocean of mountain rubble.
Gorgon hovers in the center of the mass of rock, her aura a bright red color, and her body is becoming larger and more twisted by the second.
“You barbarous, fucking whore.. I swear on my honor as Gorgon of the Deathless, I will give you the most excruciating death you can imagine..! Let’s hope your father comes to watch you die!!”
A shadow covers Jiaoying.
Wiping the blood from her nose, she smiles at the towering monster, hissing at her as venom spills from its maw.
Jiaoying smiles voraciously, her heart pounding and her blood boiling.
“I wonder… will eating your heart be what finally returns me to life?”
