Chapter 89: You F*cked Up
Gorgon was an absolute monstrosity.
She was a giant, golden beast with scales like precious metal, and eight heads sitting atop long, snakelike necks.
The creature stood on four legs, each thicker than an entire grove of trees put together.
It unleashed a deep, throaty roar that traveled for miles throughout the realm.
Solomon had his head crushed by a fallen rock as the mountain crumbled.
He only revived a short time ago, too late to stop the conflict that was clearly worsening.
Gorgon held the fallen mountain rubble high in the air above her many heads using some sort of telekinetic ability.
Solomon was baffled. He had never in his life seen a display of power quite like this one.
But as he looked towards Jiaoying, he found her unafraid. Smiling.
Even beneath all of her blue skin and muscles, he could still see the woman as he knew her.
Against dramatically unfair odds, she wasn’t backing down. She was standing proudly, with a smile on her face. Even against an enemy that she knew could not be killed.
Solomon was nearly blinded by the light of her majesty.
This was a warrior. This was a knight.
In that moment, Solomon felt something for Jiaoying that was completely new.
Idolization.
“Come on!”
One by one, large chunks of rock drop from the sky like meteors.
Jiaoying covers her axe in red aura, nearly doubling it in size and filling the air with embers.
With a single swing, she not only cuts the boulder coming to crush her, but she completely demolishes it.
A shower of pebbles and sand rain down over the shallow lakebed as Jiaoying cuts down rock after rock hurled at her.
“Boring, boring, BORING! Enough of these distractions!”
Jiaoying waits for the next boulder to come closer before she acts.
She lowers her center of gravity, concentrating power into her meaty thighs before springing up.
Jiaoying rushes headfirst through the boulder.
Her body begins to resemble a firefly whizzing about in the night.
It is as if she is flying, but what she does is nothing so graceful.
One by one, rock after rock, Jiaoying bounces across the sky, turning boulders into specs of sand.
All the while, she laughs maniacally, as if she is having the most fun of her life.
A larger piece of rock lands near Solomon, making him realize that he should most likely find cover.
And then he remembers.
His group.
He turns back in the direction he came and begins crawling over the rubble to get to them, hoping that they are all safe and sound.
And most importantly, that they hadn’t seen anything.
“There! No more little games!”
Jiaoying destroys the last rock. Now it is she who stands above Gorgon, but her situation has not changed. There is still a massive distance in size and power between the two.
Gorgon hisses. “Your zeal will be your undoing!”
“A tale I have heard over and over again!”
Jiaoying drops out of the sky hard and fast.
Opening her mouth, Gorgon spews forth a tornado of deep green flames.
However, Jiaoying doesn’t stop her descent.
“I would not have become what I am if I feared a little heat!”
Jiaoying surrounded her entire body in a dense, almost liquid aura.
When it hardened, Jiaoying fashioned her aura into a sharp point.
As the flames surround her, she barrels through them like a drill.
She comes down like an arrow, piercing the back of Gorgon’s mouth and bursting out the back of her head.
A shower of blood, bone, and scale flies free. An ecstatic smile crosses Jiaoying’s face as she lets the glory of the moment go right to her head.
It is almost as if she is drunk. The dopamine coursing through her brain is so surreal that she could die.
“Heads Up!”
Releasing her aura, Jiaoying whirls around in midair and swings her axe.
She cuts through the Gorgon’s first neck as if it were nothing.
The slash from her blade travels more than 100 yards away, severing the top of a distant mountain and causing it to slide down it’s surface.
“Immortal, but not invulnerable! Your flesh is as soft as wet paper, monster!”
Jiaoying lands on the back of the Gorgon.
She runs across the surface of her body, cutting through her scales like mad and dodging the mouths of her other heads.
“One more time then!”
When one of Gorgon’s heads dives to gobble up Jiaoying, she leaps backward, a victorious smile on her face.
She hefts her axe over her shoulder and executes a powerful downward swipe.
Gorgon’s head splits completely down the middle.
Jiaoying smiles viciously.
“As fragile as a newborn bird..! Even the tiger had tougher fur!”
The air suddenly sharpens.
Jiaoying feels something shift out of the blue, but before she can do anything, she feels a pain seize her body.
The golden scales underneath her feet shift into spears harder than metal.
In an instant, they shoot up and pierce her legs, biceps, forearms, and back all at once.
She coughs as a rush of blood escapes her esophagus.
“Cheating… fucking… monster..!” Jiaoying growls through gritted teeth.
Suddenly, the creature she’s standing on goes completely still.
Jiaoying looks at the plate of scales directly in front of her.
Slowly, they begin to melt into a liquid pool.
The pool stirs, and a nude woman rises from within the depths of the creature.
She is beautiful. Infuriatingly so.
Her skin is a deep mahogany brown and as smooth as a bar of chocolate.
Her hair was also a deep brown color, with rich, curly locks and some loose braids.
Scars adorn most of her body, the most noticeable of which is across her left eye.
A pair of brown horns curls back over her head. Her form is leaner than it appeared under her armor, but she feels just as deadly as before.
If not more.
“…Did it amuse you? Challenging me with only these meager remnants of your strength…? I should like to laugh at you, if I weren’t concerned you had an actual mental impairment.”
Jiaoying watches the hydra heads she severed grow right back.
But not only do they grow back, but two additional heads form from the same stump.
However, Jiaoying is not yet broken.
“There remains more fight in me as well, monster!”
The blue creature flexes her muscles hard.
The golden spears impaling her instantly shatter, and she lunges at Gorgon with her axe poised to strike.
“Horribly brutish.”
Gorgon catches Jiaoying’s axe arm with one hand. She twists her wrist until it completely snaps.
“Good! Your struggle will make my victory all the sweeter!”
Jiaoying throws out a thick leg towards Gorgon’s side.
Suddenly, a tail sprouts from the back of the deathless.
It wraps around her leg before it can connect with her, and whips her through the air at dizzying speed.
She is slammed hard onto the solid spikes lining Gorgon’s scales.
Trying to recover, she rolls over just in time for the butt of her very own axe to be driven right through her stomach.
Far away, climbing over the mountain rubble, Solomon feels something in the wind change.
He turns around and sees the worst-case scenario unfold.
Immediately, he rushes back to her.
Before he realizes it, his body is ballooning in size, and horns are bursting out of his head.
“GORGONNN!!!”
Solomon lunges into the air, his hooves carrying him a dramatic distance in only a single bound.
Gorgon turns her head, and their eyes meet.
But then, time comes to a screeching halt.
The world is suddenly painted over with a grey brush.
Gorgon immediately snarls.
“What. Are. You. Doing…?” A voice asks through clenched teeth.
Gorgon whirls around to face her sister.
“I am not in the mood for you, Alchemist! Begone from my sight, or-”
Alchemist slaps her hard across the face, splitting her lip.
“Your mood is of little concern to me at present, sister.” She says the word as if it’s venom on the tongue. “You are coming home.”
Claws burst out of Gorgon’s hands. “You whore, you dare-”
“You forget yourself.” Alchemist snaps. “You forget his plan, and he is not at all pleased. Punishment will be swift and immediate.”
Gorgon’s face suddenly pales. Beads of sweat dribble out of her pores.
She looks around at all of the devastation she has caused.
The powers she used.
The spectacle she created.
Suddenly, Gorgon feels sick.
“I-I’m sorry, I-”
“You need not apologize to me. Only him. And I pray, for your sake, that he is of a mind to listen.”
Gorgon’s mouth is dry, but she nods. “I-I… I need to get Rava.”
“I have already secured your brother. We return to the citadel at once.”
“Y-Yes…”
Together, she and Alchemist disappear from the area, and the world returns to normal.
Solomon can’t explain what has just happened, but suddenly, Gorgon is gone.
There is no trace of her giant, scaly form, or even the nude appearance she had just displayed.
All he can see is Jiaoying, falling through the air.
Solomon is already mid jump, so it is nothing for him to angle his body towards her and catch her before she hits the ground.
Solomon takes the brunt of the fall on his back. There is a loud crack, and the ground opens up beneath them, leaving the two in an underground tunnel.
As he returns to human form, he blinks slowly until the dark spots leave his vision.
His spine has been shattered by the fall, but is already putting itself back together.
Groaning, he attempts to turn his neck to check on Jiaoying.
“Jiao… Are you-”
A blue hand suddenly clenches his shoulder hard.
The woman in her arms lifts her face, and her eyes meet his. She smiles, her tusks red with her own blood.
“You’re a real lifesaver, handsome… You’re exactly what I needed right now.”
Fury sits up on top of Solomon, straddling him.
She raises her one good arm and flattens her hand like a blade.
Solomon is not surprised when she buries her hand in his chest and wraps her fingers around his heart.
