“A choke point,” Nyx nodded, her eyes gleaming. “We ambush them as they re-materialize. Their shields will be down for a few seconds during the transition.”

“Exactly,” Sunny grinned. “We capture the fleet. We reverse-engineer their Warp Drives. And just like that… we jump ahead a thousand years in technology.”

“And,” Nyx added, calculating the rewards, “since they initiated the aggression, the Dream Consciousness will classify this as a Defensive War. The payout for winning will be double.”

“We’re going to be rich,” Sunny laughed.

He leaned back on his moonlight throne, feeling the thrill of the game. It was refreshing to fight a war where the stakes weren’t the actual extinction of his friends, but merely points on a scoreboard.

“I wonder what the other Gods are doing,” Sunny mused, thinking about the artificial yet real entities trying to conquer their own universes.

“Do you think someone is ahead of us?” Nyx asked, a hint of competitive worry in her voice. “Maybe God-Model #45? The ’Berserker’ type? He might have conquered a galaxy by now.”

Their worries were valid. Some of the personalities they created were ruthless efficiency machines.

Sunny shook his head slowly.
