Lom’s voice had changed. It no longer carried the tone of a somewhat strong yet weak demon god trying to survive in the shadows.

It was resonant, hollow, and laced with the power of the Real Void. He looked at his hand, not as a part of his body, but as a weapon of mass erasure.

He clutched his fist.

His head rested comfortably on Nyx’s thighs. He looked up at her, watching the moonlight reflect in her starlit hair.

Nyx plucked a grape from a silver tray, a fruit grown from the dream essence, and brought it to his lips.

Sunny opened his mouth, savoring the sweetness that tasted like peace.

“What is it, dear?” Nyx asked, her fingers pausing as she ruffled his hair. She felt the shift in his aura, the transition from lover back to Sovereign.

“Two things,” Sunny said, rubbing his temples as the information flooded his brain. “The rats in the wall… Kairos and Mongo. They’ve finally decided to crawl out of the sewers. They are heading toward the palace to seek an audience.”

That didn’t bother him. He had known they were there for a long time. They were predictable. But it was the second jolt of intuition that made his blood run cold.

It was something that he didn’t recognize. It was ancient, cold, and possessed a weight that made the entire ’Bubble’ of their reality feel like it was made of thin glass.

“Someone else was just gazing at me,” Sunny whispered, his voice tight. “Someone far stronger… strong enough to contend with the Void Mother. But the information is broken. It’s like looking at a reflection in shattered glass. I don’t know what it means.”

Nyx’s expression grew serious. If something could hide from Sunny’s intuition, it was a threat of the highest order.

“Do you need to go back?” she asked softly.

Sunny looked at her, then at the peaceful world they had built. He felt a surge of stubbornness. He had worked too hard for this break.

“Not yet,” Sunny said, forcing himself to lie back down, though his muscles remained coiled. “If I rush out every time the enemy sneezes, I’ll never get a moment with you.”

He took her hand, lacing his fingers with hers.

“Let’s focus on our game. We’ve already conquered thirty-four universes in this simulation. Do you think any of the other Gods are ahead of us?”

Nyx smiled, seeing through his attempt to change the subject, but she played along. “My spies have infiltrated the neighboring universes. Most of those universes are fractured, ruled by petty warlords who can’t see past their own suns. Only a few have been consolidated under a single God, and even then, their technology is stagnant. We are in the lead, Emperor.”

“Good,” Sunny nodded. “We’ve been at this for tens of thousands of years in dream-time. You’d think I’d be bored of ruling, but watching these little stories unfold between us and our lifeforms… it’s the only thing that keeps me sane.”

He looked at Nyx, his gaze softening.

“Nyx… did I tell you? In the real world, the Multiverse of Gods is officially my territory now. The conversion is also nearly complete.”

Nyx leaned down, her lips brushing against his forehead. “Congratulations, my love. A king of two worlds. Don’t you think that requires a celebration?”

“A celebration? What do you have in mind?” Sunny asked, a smirk playing on his lips.

“No, not that… I mean that too” Nyx giggled. “But first let the people celebrate. We spend so much time making them work, making them evolve, making them fight. For one day, let’s just let them be happy.”

She waved her hand across the interface of the Dream World.

Immediately, a notification pulsed through the systems of every lifeform in the simulated empire, billions of humans, elves, and spirits across thirty-four universes.

Sunny laughed, the tension in his shoulders finally dissolving. The war could wait for a few more hours. In the dream, he was exactly where he needed to be.
