Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Graveknit In Action (part 1)
The Carrion Knight pulled the reins and stopped the horse.
The carriage creaked slightly as it came to a halt.
Aiden pushed the door open and stepped out first.
The morning air was warmer here, and the town smelled of food, livestock, and damp wood. He glanced around calmly, observing the people and the layout of the streets.
A few passersby looked at him briefly, then went back to their business.
Nothing unusual. But when Graveknit stepped out.
The moment its stitched body appeared, everything changed.
Unlike the Carrion Knight, Graveknit had made no effort to disguise itself.
Its body was a crude patchwork of bones stitched together with thick black threads of necromantic energy. Extra bone fragments stuck out from its arms and shoulders like jagged spikes. The hollow eye sockets glowed faintly as it straightened beside the carriage.
For a moment…
The entire street froze.
A woman carrying a basket stopped walking.
A merchant froze with his mouth open.
Even the children stopped running.
All eyes turned toward the strange creature standing beside Aiden.
No one in this world had ever seen something like Graveknit before.
A man near the butcher stall squinted, trying to understand what he was looking at.
“W-what… is that?”
Another man slowly stepped backward.
“That thing… that thing is made of bones…”
Someone dropped a wooden crate.
Then one person screamed.
“MONSTER!”
That single scream was enough.
Like a domino effect, panic exploded through the street.
“MONSTER!”
“RUN!”
“CALL THE GUARDS!”
People scattered in every direction. Stalls overturned, baskets fell to the ground, and terrified townsfolk ran through the streets as fast as they could.
Aiden watched the chaos unfold with a completely calm expression.
“Well…”
He glanced at Graveknit.
“That escalated quickly.”
He raised his hand slightly.
Black mist immediately began gathering around him.
“Let’s start…”
The mist exploded outward.
One by one, undead soldiers formed around him.
Fifteen basic-grade skeleton warriors appeared first, swords and shields already raised.
Then the stronger ones formed.
Nine bronze-grade undead, former body tempering practitioners, materialized beside them.
Their presence immediately changed the atmosphere.
People who had been running froze in horror when they saw the undead army suddenly appear.
One man fell to his knees in shock.
“W-what the hell is happening?!”
The Carrion Knight stepped forward calmly, removing the cloak hiding its armor.
Its massive cleaver rested against its shoulder as it looked over the street like a battlefield.
Aiden glanced at it.
“Carrion.”
The undead knight turned slightly.
“Yes, my lord.”
Aiden gestured toward the panicking town.
“Take command.”
The Carrion Knight lowered its head.
“As you command.”
It raised its arm and began issuing silent orders.
The skeleton soldiers immediately spread through the streets, blocking escape routes. The bronze-grade undead moved like predators, heading straight toward groups of armed guards rushing to the scene.
The battle had begun.
Screams echoed through the town.
Steel clashed against bone.
But Aiden didn’t even look back.
Instead, he turned toward the center of the town where a larger compound stood behind tall wooden fences.
Graveknit stepped beside him.
“My lord,” it said. “That is the residence of the sect that governs this town.”
Aiden nodded.
“Good.”
He started walking toward it calmly, stepping over a dropped basket of fruit.
Behind him, chaos spread across Riverfall.
But Aiden didn’t bother watching.
“Let Carrion handle the town,” he said casually.
Graveknit walked beside him.
By the time Aiden and Graveknit reached the center of the town, the noise of battle had already spread everywhere.
Screams echoed through the streets behind them.
Steel clashed against bone. People ran in every direction while the undead soldiers hunted down guards and anyone foolish enough to fight back.
But the closer Aiden walked toward the sect compound, the quieter things became.
The sect’s residence stood behind tall wooden gates reinforced with iron bands. The buildings inside were larger than the rest of the town, clearly the place where the people in power lived.
Smoke lanterns hung along the walls, and several armed disciples were already rushing toward the entrance.
Aiden stopped a few steps away from the open courtyard.
Inside, four men were already walking out.
Three of them wore elder robes. Their bodies were lean and hardened, their movements steady and controlled.
Body Tempering practitioners.
Standing slightly ahead of them was a tall man with a long beard and sharp eyes.
The Sect Master.
His aura was stronger than the other three.
Clearly the strongest person in the entire town.
They had already been alerted by the chaos.
The Sect Master had been preparing to head out and help the town guards suppress whatever was happening.
But when they reached the courtyard entrance…
They saw Aiden.
And beside him…
Graveknit.
The four men immediately stopped.
Their eyes locked onto the strange creature stitched together from bones and corpse fragments.
Even seasoned fighters like them felt a chill crawl down their backs.
One of the elders frowned deeply.
“That thing… is dangerous, sect master.”
The Sect Master narrowed his eyes.
He studied Graveknit carefully.
That thing was definitely not human.
Not a beast either.
It looked like some kind of demonic construct.
Then his gaze shifted to Aiden.
A young man.
Calm.
Too calm.
“You there,” the Sect Master said coldly. “Who are you people?”
Aiden looked at them as if he were examining livestock.
Four body tempering practitioners.
Not bad for a small town.
But nothing special either.
He tilted his head slightly.
“Graveknit.”
The undead servant stepped forward immediately.
“Yes, my lord.”
Aiden pointed casually at the four men standing in the courtyard.
“Can you take all of them?”
Graveknit looked at the four cultivators.
Its hollow eye sockets glowed faintly as it observed their breathing, stance, and muscle tension.
Then it nodded.
“Yes, my lord.”
It flexed its stitched arms slightly, bone fragments shifting under the black necromantic threads.
“They are… quite weak.”
The elders’ faces instantly darkened.
One of them shouted angrily.
“Arrogant monster!”
The Sect Master’s killing intent exploded.
“Kill them!”
The four cultivators rushed forward at the same time.
Their feet slammed against the stone courtyard as their bodies surged with physical power.
The closest elder arrived first.
His fist shot forward like a hammer, aiming directly at Graveknit’s skull.
“DIE!”
