Chapter 86: Chapter 86: New Skills
It gestured toward the wagons behind it.
“We will transport them back to our town shortly.”
Several skeletons were already loading carts with sacks of coins.
Others were stacking bodies like firewood.
Aiden raised an eyebrow slightly.
“You’re taking the bodies too?”
The Carrion Knight nodded.
“Yes, my lord.”
A nearby skeleton dragged two corpses across the dirt.
Graveknit spoke calmly.
“The undead citizens in our town require sustenance.”
Aiden’s gaze drifted toward the corpses.
“They can eat animals, right?” Aiden asked.
Carrion Knight answered.
“They can, my lord.”
“But it does not satisfy them the same way.”
Graveknit added quietly,
“Human flesh provides stronger nourishment for undead.”
Aiden watched as skeleton soldiers dragged another pile of corpses toward the wagons.
He was silent for a moment.
Then he shrugged.
“Fine.”
His voice was completely indifferent.
“Take everything.”
He turned and started walking out of the sect compound.
“Coins, valuables, corpses…”
He glanced back at the ruined courtyard.
“Don’t leave anything behind.”
Behind him, the undead army continued its work.
Stripping the town of everything it had left.
The road back to Aiden’s town was quiet.
The sun had already sunk below the horizon, leaving only a dim orange glow along the distant mountains. The forest around the road was silent except for the steady sound of the carriage wheels rolling across the dirt path.
Inside the carriage, Aiden sat comfortably against the seat while a small translucent screen floated in front of him.
He was checking the system again.
His eyes moved across the numbers slowly.
“Not bad…” he murmured.
The number beside the gold coin icon shimmered slightly.
Gold coins: 2437
When he left his town earlier, he only had a little over three hundred gold coins.
Now he had gained another two thousand from the town they just raided.
“Two thousand gold coins from a small place like that…” Aiden muttered. “Seems about right.”
Outside the carriage, the sound of hooves echoed as the horse continued pulling them through the dark road.
Carrion Knight was still steering the carriage from the front.
Behind them, several wagons followed, dragged by skeleton warriors.
Those wagons were filled with sacks of coins… and piles of bodies.
Aiden glanced out the window for a moment, then returned his attention to the floating screen.
Another thing had changed.
His level.
He leaned back slightly and smiled faintly.
“Level twenty-four already…”
The experience from killing the sect members, the guards, and the warriors had pushed him up three whole levels.
From Level 21 to Level 24.
He opened his full status screen.

Aiden studied the screen carefully.
His bronze-grade summons had increased again.
Earlier today he only had ten.
Now he had thirteen.
He had successfully turned three of the sect’s body tempering elders into undead.
And the most valuable one…
The Sect Master.
More body tempering undead meant stronger frontline fighters.
His undead army was growing quickly.
Aiden closed the status screen with a thought.
The window vanished instantly.
He leaned back and looked out the carriage window again.
The moon had already risen, casting a pale light across the road.
Somewhere in the distance, wolves howled faintly.
Aiden crossed his arms.
“There’s still one more town nearby…” he said quietly.
Graveknit, who was sitting across from him inside the carriage, lifted its head slightly.
“Yes, my lord.”
“The second town I reported earlier.”
Aiden nodded.
“We attack tomorrow.”
His voice was calm.
Like he was talking about normal business.
“Once that town is gone, this whole area will basically belong to us.”
Graveknit bowed its head slightly.
“As you wish, my lord.”
Outside, the wagons continued rolling forward.
Behind them, the corpses collected from the town swayed with the movement of the road.
Ahead of them…
Aiden’s undead town waited in the darkness.
—-
Night had already settled when Aiden returned to the villa.
The entire place had become eerily quiet.
Pale lanterns burned along the hallways, their dim green flames casting long shadows across the stone floor. A few wraith maids drifted silently through the corridors, cleaning and arranging things like nothing unusual had happened.
Outside the villa, skeleton guards stood motionless near the gates while bronze-grade undead patrolled the streets of the town.
Inside his bedroom, Aiden sat on a wooden chair near the window. The moonlight spilled into the room, mixing with the faint glow of necromantic energy coming from the Dark Mana Fountain in the center of town.
A translucent screen floated in front of him.
The Skill System.
Aiden rested his chin on his hand as he studied it.
“Seven skill points…” he muttered quietly.
That meant he could purchase three skills if he wanted.
Aiden flicked his finger slightly.
New skills appeared on the screen.
He began reading them one by one.
[Grave Calling—Active Skill
This skill allows the necromancer to instantly raise multiple weak undead from nearby corpses within a certain radius.
Unlike Lord of the Dead, which focuses on raising stronger undead individually, Grave Calling is meant for battlefield use.
When activated, dark mana spreads through the ground and reanimates the fallen as temporary undead soldiers.
These undead are weaker than normal summons and will eventually collapse once their necromantic energy runs out.
However, they are extremely useful during large battles where corpses are everywhere.
The more bodies present on the battlefield, the larger the temporary undead army the necromancer can raise.
Cooldown and mana cost increase depending on the number of corpses used.]
[Bone Prison—Active Skill
The necromancer summons thick skeletal pillars from the ground to trap a target.
These bone structures rapidly rise from beneath the enemy’s feet, forming a cage of hardened bone that restricts movement.
The prison can hold enemies temporarily, making it easier for undead forces to surround and eliminate them.
Stronger enemies can eventually break the prison, but the skill still provides valuable control during combat.]
